Rob Ryan vows to “beat the ass” of “the all-hype team”

Rob Ryan, Alex Albright AP

After becoming one of the Eagles’ many high-profile acquisitions over the last week, Vince Young proclaimed Philadelphia the “Dream Team.” Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan may have given the Eagles a different nickname today.

Speaking to reporters at Cowboys camp, Ryan said that he was happy with the Cowboys’ relative lack of big-name free-agent signings because he thinks the players the Cowboys already have are good enough. And then he said he’s looking forward to playing a certain other team that has received more attention in free agency.

“These are proven players, and that’s what we need,” Ryan said. “I don’t know if we win the all-hype team, I think that might have gone to somebody else, but we’re going to beat their ass when we play them.”

Ryan didn’t mention the Eagles by name, but I think it’s safe to say that’s who he was referencing. And with that, Rob Ryan has given us a brash statement that even his brother Rex will find it tough to top.

Oh man. I love this. I love football. I’m not even a fan of the Eagles and Cowboys. Go NFL!

  3. mdpickles says: Aug 1, 2011 10:29 PM

Welp, Rob just guaranteed two losses by 30+ points.

  4. cwt123 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:29 PM

You may hate the Cowboys, but coming from a Dallas fan, I for one am glad they finally have a coach with a set of balls!

    (Can I say that?)

  5. schmedley69 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:29 PM

The Ryan family is the biggest bunch of blowhards since the Mandlebaums. “You think you’re better than me?!?”

  6. jeepin08 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:30 PM

Thats just what we all need. Another big mouth Ryan babbling about anything.

  7. docredskin says: Aug 1, 2011 10:30 PM

As a fan who despises both teams, I kind of hope they do. The Eagles are one Michael Vick injury away from having quadruple negative Young (Can’t Nobody never tell him nothin’) ruin this “dream”season.

The Packers will still kick their ass just like Ryan thinks his defense will.

  8. rodn3y1 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:30 PM

yea let em birdies know not 2 forget dallas is in there division!

  9. macjacmccoy says: Aug 1, 2011 10:31 PM

maybe he was talking about his brothers team. Cowboys play them week 1.

Probably not but they have been just as over hyped the last few years as the Eagles have been this year.

  10. jjrs89 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:31 PM

The all hype team? So he’s going to beat the pants off of the jets?

  11. jtm12180 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:31 PM

  12. rollolarson says: Aug 1, 2011 10:31 PM

It’s gonna be great to see him do it too

  13. jcjets says: Aug 1, 2011 10:32 PM

i don’t get why people hate the fact that some of these coaches talk a little smack. When you play sports with your friends, or video games, you don’t do the same? These guys aren’t giving press conferences regarding the debt ceiling..why take it so literal?

  14. atwatercrushesokoye says: Aug 1, 2011 10:32 PM

Funny Rob Ryan is the epitome of “All-hype” if you actually look at the stats for his defenses only once have they ranked above 21….way to live off of your family name!

Maybe he should try guarantees, his brother guarantees a Super Bowl year after year, and look at how he keeps delivering on that!

It’s fun watching these two idiots lose year after year!

  15. apdaddy77 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:32 PM

Rob is just moody because he entered the thrid trimester of his pregnancy.

  24. cstanley028 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:35 PM

  26. jdhel8 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:36 PM

And Rob has done exactly what in his overweight life???

  28. oscojoe says: Aug 1, 2011 10:37 PM

Now this is a great NFL side show Rex vs. Rob. That should be fun (Their teams open up the season against each other)

At least their fan base with having something to look forward to each week to keep them entertained.

  29. eaglesfan723 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:37 PM

Sounds like Dallas is a bit resentful because the eagles are always the ones doiong the ass kicking when they play eachother…and it looks like the Eagles improved this offseason not the Cowgirls. And Why do the Ryan brothers always sound like pompous a-holes?

  30. newagerocker says: Aug 1, 2011 10:38 PM

As fat (horizontally challenged for the politically correct types) as Rob Ryan is. Those balls must be bigger the grape-fruits for him to even be able to see them……

  34. melonnhead says: Aug 1, 2011 10:38 PM

Tonight Cullen Jenkins tweeted “Talk is cheap. Let them talk. We are focused here and I could care less. We are worried about ourselves n getting better. He must be nervous”

Ryan mentioned HYPE and Jenkins naturally assumed he was talking about the EAGLES hahahaha

  37. meangreen2 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:40 PM

He should be more concerned with his pregnacy then what the Eagles are doing in free agency.

  38. tashkalucy says: Aug 1, 2011 10:40 PM

When Rob was hired in Cleveland he said at his first new conference that his teams always stopped the run, and “you can look it up.”

One reporter did and found Rob’s D always ranked in the lower 25% in the league in giving up run yardage.

  39. t16rich says: Aug 1, 2011 10:40 PM

Yeah guess what buddy boy? The Pats are a Brady injury away, Colts are a Peyton manning injury away, and the Jets are a Revis away from their season being shot. injuries are part of the game and you can say that about any team.

  45. legaleagle513 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:43 PM

    ======================

What’s ballsy about a defensive coordinator running his mouth during training camp?

What is it about the Ryan family that makes them so full of themselves? Could one of these fat fools win something please?

Between the father and the sons, the Ryan family is sporting about 1000 pounds of playoff failure.

Except of course for Rob, whose never been to the playoffs as a
    coordinator.

  48. cowboy88 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:43 PM

Oh and some of u are talking about packers? They the 2nd best team now sorry but eagles surpassed them. heck they gave gb all they could handle last year

  51. The Baseball Gods says: Aug 1, 2011 10:45 PM

Is Rob Ryan pregnant?….He must have gotten too close to Tony Romo. Candice crawford will not be happy.

  52. ilduce24 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:45 PM

I love me some Ryan brothers…I’m a Jets fan and not a Cowboys fan, but Rob is the man…

And to the first comment…what fan are you? Because I’m pretty sure the Eagles haven’t “hoisted” a trophy since 1960…which doesn’t even count as a Super Bowl victory…

But further analyzing that comment you’re probably a Packers, Saints, Pats or Steelers front-runner…

  53. baddegg says: Aug 1, 2011 10:46 PM

    I love it.

I hate the Cowboys but I love that he said this. Everyone puts down the Ryan bravado, but Rex Ryan got his guys in NY to believe and their play followed suit. There is value to the bravado, actually.

I know Philly fans would rather just have everyone quake in fear at their signings and just hope and pray not to get beat too much. If you approach them like that, you are definitely going to lose. If you look at them as just another team, maybe you have a chance. In other words, why give Philly a huge psychological advantage just because they are everyone’s “offseason champs.”

So, I hate the Cowboys, but today, I say, GET EM ROB!

A Ryan that hates hype. That’s new.

  61. jebsta16 says: Aug 1, 2011 10:53 PM

I am finding it hard to believe that this Cowboys defense is much better than the one in Cleveland. The few Cleveland games I have seen they went with a 3 man rush and drop everyone else into coverage right off the bat. I didn’t see so many of these exotic blitzes they keep talking about him installing. Yeah and I know about Ware, I guess we will see how he looks in coverage. I think the most over-hyped move of the year was the Cowboys getting Ryan.

  62. paulieorkid says: Aug 1, 2011 10:53 PM

Love them or hate them, the whole Ryan family is just classic.

And for everyone who calls them losers with no right to mouth off — they all have strong resumes, plus a number of Super Bowl rings — Buddy won at least two as a defensive coordinator.

No Ryan has ever couched my team, but ya gotta at least appreciate the spice and flavah they bring to a profession so largely obsessed with not voicing something that could be construed as incendiary. It sure as hell beats a league full of Dave Campos and Marty Mohrningwhegs.

    The Ryan — very refreshing.

Until JJ dies or sells the CowBabies, nothing much will change. At least now they seem to have a few coaches with a little moxie. At least, show a little excitement from the sidelines. Just keep your mouths shut and coach whoever is on the field and maybe win a couple of playoff games.

Yeah, we’re psyched the front office seems to be “all in”, but honestly, until they win some games it doesn’t mean Sh*t. What this does is leave Reid with little excuse IF he and the coaching staff can’t take the Eagles to the next level.

    _______________________
Wasn’t just Rex Ryan’s attitude. They added some important players as well (Scott, Leonhard, Cromartie, and Holmes), and some young players (like Revis) experienced their natural improvement. Not saying Rex didn’t do anything for the Jets, but I figure it was more his defensive expertise than his trash talking that did the trick.

As for “offseason champs” it all depends on what you’re talking about. This isn’t like the Redskins throwing a ton of money at the biggest name FA regardless of need or fit. The Eagles already had an explosive offense. They needed to improve their secondary and pass rush, however. So, they went out and picked up a DE and a DT that should seriously boost their pass rush, and Nnamdi and DRC to seriously boost their secondary. Personally, I hope they keep all three. This is more and more a passing league every year, and if you want to shut down offenses like the Saints, Packers, Colts, and Pats have you need a lot of good CBs. Also, if they keep all three, they’re still in good shape if one gets injured.

    hey eaglesfan723:

Cowboys have won 4 of 5 including a shutout and a playoff win. Go sign another 30+year old free agent and draft a 27-year old rookie.

I hope you enjoy taking the off-season champions ttitle from the redskins cause that’s as good as it will get this year or any other. Don’t bother to start fitting yourself for the Super Bowl ring that will never come. Eagles have been the most over-hyped team of the last 10-13 years and they have nothing to show for it. Every year is supposed to “finally be the year” or “going all in” and they always end in failure.

Andy Reid is still an idiot, your def coordinator is an offensive line coach and michael vick will never make it through the season with King Dunlap protecting his blindside.

How do our 5 rings taste bitch?

  88. demstinkinbums says: Aug 1, 2011 11:15 PM

  92. jsrdc says: Aug 1, 2011 11:18 PM

mdpickles, yeah, right. Your team is good on paper. Let’s see how that translates. Reid may be using that very paper to wipe his arss after his cheesesteak breakfast – nobody has ever won the SB in preseason or even week 17 of the season. I know you Philly fans are hyped up with all of the additions, but until your Snyder-like off-season pans out and translates into a SB victory, ease up on the SB talk, and remember you are trailing the Cowboys 5 Lombardi trophies to none in your legacy. Can you dispute that fact?

Eaglesfan723, Uhhhhh – true to form, you are delusional Eagle fan – talking about the Eagles always doing the Ass-kickin? Here are the FACTS, and not your incorrect and ridiculous assertions – Through January 2, 2011, the Cowboys lead the all-time series over the Eagles 59-45. The total includes regular-season and postseason games. That is 15 games in FAVOR of the Cowboys. No wonder you fans boo Santa Claus and throw battery-filled snowballs – losing to your bitter rival just flat out sucks, doesn’t it?

Anybody who doesn’t like Ryan’s comments, allow your team’s play shut him up. I love his comments. Like another post on here said, they haven’t had this type of confidence out of their D-coordinator for far too long. Let’s see what your team can do when it counts. If your team wins, I will be the first to congratulate you. I don’t think it can get any more fair than that.

  93. dccowboy says: Aug 1, 2011 11:19 PM

+So why wouldn’t you automatically assume he meant the JETS? Dallas plays them the first game of the season and clearly the Jets are more hyped ( By Ryan’s Brother) than the Eagles are. Also, if he meant the Eagles wouldn’t he have said we’re gonna beat their ‘ass.es’ TWICE???

Pretty funny how people are so anxious to accept the title ‘most overhyped’. LOL

Love them or hate them, the whole Ryan family is just classic.

And for everyone who calls them losers with no right to mouth off — they all have strong resumes, plus a number of Super Bowl rings — Buddy won at least two as a defensive coordinator.
    =============================
They don’t have a “number” of SB rings as coordinators.

They have one. in 1985. From Buddy.

Rex Ryan was NOT defensive coordinator the year the Ravens won the Super Bowl. And Rob Ryan was not DC in New England when they won.

Super Bowls won as position coaches don’t make you a “winning” coach.

And the Ryan in question right now, Rob, is 30-82 as a defensive coordinator.

    Now that’s a “strong resume”.

Alot of Cowboys hate. That’s ok. It’s easy to talk crap about a guy who has accomplished more than any of us armchair QBs have ever accomplished.

    1. Mike Vick can’t match the year he had last year. Its unrealistic.

    2. Culture shock. The Eagles will have growing pains with all the new pieces in this puzzle.

    3. Andy Reid’s clock management will ruin your year in the end.

    4. Nnamdi has never played in the spotlight. It’s easy to lay low in SoCal and play “exclusively” RCB. His true colors will show, good or bad.

    5. Cullen Jenkins is a product of Dom Capers’ genius.

    6. Nate Allen and Safety to be named later.

I can go on and on. Every team has question marks. That’s not my point. The truth is its just as idiotic to think that Dallas has no chance as it is to think Dallas will whoop Philly’s ass.

That’s why they play the game. I will point out one small point. The Cowboys have never had a coach with confidence. The last time a Dallas coach guaranteed something it was the 93 NFC Championship.

As for the National Media, what they fail to mention is that the Eagles are forced to buy a defense because of their inability to draft good players on that side of the ball. But whatever, keep spinning the bs stories, and why not throw in the requisite ‘bad fan’ story for good measure. So unoriginal.

  149. indianheadmeatpackingcompany says: Aug 2, 2011 2:25 AM

This is coming from the self-hyped and proclaimed “America’s Team”. Remeber their last playoff game? 34-3? The one where they cried because their asses couldnt cash the “Spuer Bowl” check their massive holes wrote. Remeber last season when they were going to be the first team to play a home Super Bowl game? And then had to pay to attend (theyre just lucky there were actually seats for the tickets they bought). Dallas is right near the top when it comes to all about hype and over the last decade or so has not come close to living up to their claims.

  150. jsrdc says: Aug 2, 2011 3:03 AM

    bigplayray,

No, it doesn’t count, its not relevant, and you proved it in your post saying the only win in the modern era is from the Giants. Yet you want to be acknowledged all the way back to 1960? WHAT COUNTS IS SB WINS. That is the pinnacle, and the point of playing this game. The Eagles have zero SB WINS.

You pathetic Eagle fans can only talk about the Cowboys from 1997 on, but we can’t say anything about you never winning a SB, in the current NFL era, AFTER the merger, not before the merger, when it wasn’t even a SB but a championship? What a perfect example of the pot calling the kettle black.

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE SINCE 1960 is the question. Win a SB. Until then you have ZERO platform in which to talk. If you have 5 SB wins like the Cowboys do, your legacy speaks for itself. It’s real simple – win one. This year you have zreo excuses (not that you had legitimate excuses before, but with the Dan Snyder approach your team took during this FA period, you REALLY don’t have any excuses). Don’t talk about it, DO IT. And then yes, you will have one in your history. The Steelers own 6, but that shouldn’t count for anything? I bet it would if it was the other Pennsylvania team that could sport that legacy. Pathetic? What is pathetic is your apparent level of bitterness and butt-hurt. Man up, and move on yourself. What a maroon.

Like your boy bigplayray, you have demonstrated a perfect example of the pot calling the kettle black. Well done, just not too astute. They were the ones that showed the rest of the league how to stop Mike Vick and made Andy Reid pout about his murdering QB getting roughed up too much.

Either you totally don’t understand the moral antecdote of Damocles and Dionysius, or you are incredibly stupid and don’t know how to translate it to this scenario. The sword represented the constant shadow of external threat that great men must live under. It was not intended to be a tool of instigation, but a symbol of the sacrifice required by the successful. What a fall from grace. What a great time it was watching them have to actually face the reality of NOT playing in the SB on their home field.

This year it will be much of the same for the Egirls. Hype it all the way to another “no SB for you” season. Will be great to watch.

Whatever past glory the franchise might have, it is a fact that during the last 10 years, no team has been more overhyped and underachieving that the Dallas Cowboys.

If the Eagles get a lot of attention, it’s because they make the playoffs every year. Simple as that.

Second, is it me, or does Rob Ryan have a human inside his stomach? And I mean a full grown human not a baby? WTF is that? Someone should see if he passes a conditioning test…

Third, Rob you are not your brother and you are not a head coach… Making a statement like that is foolish and although I get the motivational tool you are using (which you stole from your brother), The Cowboys have ALOT of work to do.. .You have some very nice offensive weapons, but your D has no idea what is coming to it this year…

Finally, Whoever made the comment about “they are over hyped just like Dallas was the past few years” this is the best statement I could have read to describe this…

I am completely comfortable with my team and where we are. If I were bitter, I would resort to calling fans from other teams maroons and stuff like that.

Ok, you know you’re so right. What have we done since 1960? We don’t have a Super Bowl win. In 30 years when JJ is dust, the new Cowboys stadium is a relic or a parking lot, and we’re in flying cars; if the Cowboys don’t have another Super Bowl win, will your legacy still feel as much like a legacy?

Point that I was making is the further you are removed from a situation, the less relevant it is. No rings for Eagles, but like I said earlier, when we DO win, which will be before any of you other NFC East teams, your argument will be HOW MANY. Or it will be, Eagles had to spend a lot of money to win, or something of that nature…..Didn’t take the “Snyder approach”. We actually addressed needs………

Have your team do the talking for you, not your empty words. All I have heard is SB talk based on FA pickups. Free Agency has never won a SB. You need to get past the first 17 weeks of regular season play before that is even a possibility. Stop the delusional behavior. IF, and only IF you win a SB do you have a platform in which to speak. It’s true enough that image SHOULD not matter, but this is the $9+BILLION NFL, and it does.

The ultimate in sartorial professionalism (and, mind you, this is coming from an Eagles fan) is of course Tom Landry. He always had class, and his dress indicated such; He screamed professional.

From Landry & Lombardi, to Roger Penske, to Pat Riley & Phil Jackson, they show in their style what professionalism is all about. It speaks volumes as to their approach to the “game”.

Not saying others can’t get away with a somewhat sloppy appearance (NE comes to mind), but for my own taste, you dress to the level you WANT to achieve.

And Andy and Rex and Rob should do better.

I remember the last time a cowboy talked a bunch of stuff about an Eagles team. Buddy Ryan put a bounty on his and few other players heads.

The redskins did the same and it resulted in buddy ryan having his “gang green” destroy the skins so much that a player on the Eagles yelled to the other sidelines “hey, you need some more body bags” thus you had the body bag game.

And then just last year the Redskins jumped on top of Vicks back with their knees atempting to injure him and knocked him out of the game. The redskins did win that game. But after they talked a bunch of smack about how the Eagles made a big mistake. In game two of the season Vick came out and put on maybe the greatest game ever played in the modern era and crushed the Redskins.

The moral of these stories is do not put the Eagles on blast. Its not a good idea.

Oh and Packers fans you won LAST year congrats now realize it isn’t last year anymore. And the PAck have less of a chance that the eagles if your starting QB goes down

    @leagle911,

Clothing worn and opinions on it is a subjective thing, regardless of whether or not this is a 9 billion dollar Fan -paid business . Ryan is not under any type of dress code by the NFL, so if the NFL isn’t mandating it, why should an Eagle fan demand that from the Cowboy’s coaching staff? You even commenting on it is ridiculous – PERIOD. you have obviously seen what your HC wears on the sidelines, as well as Belichick, and have pointed it out as not appropriate, in your opinion. When the players and coaches get off the team buses, they are all dressed professionally. When they are on the sidelines, image doesn’t (and shouldn’t) apply – which you agreed to, but then in the same sentence you pointed out this is a 9+ billion dollar NFL – so which is it? You are being way too ambiguous here . I mean, come on – seriously? Your 2 cents is a waste of money regarding this subject.

  200. jsrdc says: Aug 2, 2011 2:43 PM

    zeussuperman,

Your offense that is so “Dynamic” hasn’t changed hardly at all from last year, and if you remember correctly, we split with you, and both games were won by either team by 3 points or less. We all know our D was not great last year, but the Cowboys STILL played you tough. We also lost our starting QB for half the year, and fired our HC as well, and still finished on a strong note. As dynamic as your offense was last year, injuries still took its toll, and your team exited the playoffs early. I think the Packers were very happy to take a win over being called dynamic any day, and they were the most dynamic offense in the league, IMO, to win it all amidst all the injuries they had.

You and the rest of the Eagle fans who are anointing them as the most dynamic offense in the league for this year is nothing more than semantics. If and when it translates into wins, THEN and only then are you able to sit here and CONFIRM that they are the most dynamic. What is important is wins, not being dynamic, and not talking about it, but demonstrating it via execution and effectiveness of the game plan.

If and when the Eagles are able to do this, I will give them credit for it. Until then, like I have said before, the Eagles are 0-0, and are on equal footing with every other team UNTIL they win the SB, and then they will deserve that title. Getting there won’t cut it. Winning it all is the ONLY thing you can do to back up your talk, as it is the ultimate goal in this league, and why teams play the game.

  201. jsrdc says: Aug 2, 2011 3:13 PM

    nasheagles,

Since there wasn’t a true “need” for CB for the Cowboys, the team decided it would retain who they had. Who wouldn’t have wanted Nnamdi if they could get him? He is that type of player. Philly didn’t need him once they got DRC and had Samuel on the other side. They went on a Dan Snyder-like signing spree, because they had the money, are WAY overdue for a SB win, and are going all out to try and win one. I don’t blame them at all, but having said that, Reid is on the hot seat, and will likely be fired if the Eagles don’t at least make it to the NFC Championship. If Reid can’t make it that far with the players now on this team, it is an experiment that didn’t work out. I know how those go – Roy Williams was a big example of that.

Had we picked up Nnamdi (which if you read, the Cowboys AND Jets both voluntarily dropped out of the race) Newman would have been cut. Nnamdi CHOSE to go to the Eagles – he wanted out of Oakland, wants to win a SB, and who can blame him. He will be good, no doubt, but I have no issues with Jenkins and Newman playing under Ryan. Newman had a good year last year, played through ankle and rib injuries, and still was effective. Jenkins needs to step it up and play like he did 2 years ago. If he does that, and he and Newman can stay healthy in this Rob Ryan led D, The Cowboys will be competitive, and will win more games than the 6 they won last year (btw, only two games last year were lost last year by 8 or more points – the Cowboys were competitive, but they couldn’t finish games). And all of that with our HC getting fired, and our QB missing virtually half of the season.

The Eagles don’t scare me. You can puff out your chests all you want with the new teammates, but until it translates into wins, you are just another Washington Redskins-type team with a high payroll, and results that aren’t commensurate with the pay.

  202. melonvoxveritas says: Aug 2, 2011 3:46 PM

jsrdc — How is Kitna looking? Seems like the team favored him over Romo.

  203. jsrdc says: Aug 2, 2011 4:06 PM

    melon,

I haven’t heard a thing about Kitna, and you won’t unless Romo get’s hurt. The team rallied around Kitna last year because they had no choice. It was only Martellus Bennett who said something about Kitna having the chance to compete for the starting job that I recall, but we all know that isn’t going to happen. Kitna’s role is well defined, and Bennett is still lucky he has a roster spot at this point. Bennett was more consistently targeted when Kitna took over for Romo – is that just a coincidence? I think not. Bennett better just shut up and play, because a healthy John Phillips (ACL) will compete for playing time. It has been roughly one year since that injury, so Phillips is probably at least 85-90% back

  204. saturn1111 says: Aug 2, 2011 4:46 PM

The notion that the Ealges are “just another redskins team” is ludicrous. Two teams spending money on FA’s in the offseason doesn’t make them identical.

and last year’s win vs. the eagles came against our scrubs. claiming that the two teams split last year is equally ludicrous.

  205. rayrsatx says: Aug 2, 2011 5:05 PM

  207. jsrdc says: Aug 2, 2011 7:12 PM

    saturn1111,
You are right – two teams spending money on FA’s in the off-season doesn’t make them identical. What DOES make them identical is if those FA’s don’t pan out, and the experiment doesn’t work. Let’s face it – the Eagles have made a HUGE FA run. Arguably the biggest FA run in quite some time, and anything less than a SB win will be a disappointment, since the Eagles are now the “dream” team.

Now, let’s get to what I actually said.

What I SPECIFICALLY said was this, and please not the first word of this – until – which is key, and very appropriately placed:

“until it translates into wins, you are just another Washington Redskins-type team with a high payroll, and results that aren’t commensurate with the pay.”

IF the Eagles don’t do what they are now expected to do (win a SB) by their fans and the analysts (note analysts begins with anal) with all of these high-profile signings, they are just as guilty of trying to buy a SB as the Skins were when Snyder did what he did with FA signings.

I didn’t say unequivocally that they ARE just another Redskins team – I have given the Eagles the opportunity to prove they will win, and the FA experiment (which is what it is) will work out.

I think I was pretty fair with what I said.

Lastly, for the final game of the season, we also had our “scrubs” in the game – Mcgee (0ur 3rd string QB) started the game, and Kolb started for the Eagles. Both teams had scrubs, but the Cowboys still won. Why do I have a feeling had you won that game, you would be boasting about a sweep. A win is a win, even in pre-season, when they don’t actually mean anything for the regular season. It is still a morale builder, and that counts for something.

I don’t know why everyone is making a big deal about signing three 30 year olds that their teams no longer wanted. Vick proved what he was last year, exciting , hurt often and can’t the big game. Not worried just can’t wait for them to fall apart and hear big fat Reid try to explain why.

Something for the Eagles chest-beaters to think about:

In the two games they played last season, the Eagles scored all of two points more than the Cowboys. The Cowboys lost the first game – led by Jon Kitna – by 3 points, and won the backups-against-backups game by 1 point.

So two seasons ago, the Eagles were swept in 3 games by the Cowboys, with the Cowboys scoring 48 more points than the Eagles. Last year, with the Cowboys’ starting QB out and a new head coach installed in the middle of the season, and hotshot Vick in place, the Eagles only squeak by by 2 points.

This year, the Cowboys have a healthy starting QB, stable coaches, a great new DC, healthy starters at all key positions, and a ton of tape on Vick, who’s not taking anyone by surprise anymore.

Nothing guarantees a Cowboys win – every Cowboys fan is sadly aware of that – but any Eagles fan who thinks their team is destined for anything but a hard-fought struggle this year is deluded.

    **********************************

Maybe but I’ll gladly take Flynn who came within a hair of beating the Patriots over Young who’s most likely to start flossing his teeth with a Glock once the Philly fans get on him for his 3 INT games.

Rodgers goes down, it sucks but we ALREADY know he’s a Superbowl caliber QB. Eagles and Cowboys might believe they have the same but they do NOT have the hardware to back it up. At best it’s a guess….

And you’re right – it’s not last year. We brought back 15 people off IR from last year. (so we basically beat the Eagles and won a Superbowl with UDFA and street cast offs).

The only FA we lost of any name was Jenkins – who was pretty invisible in the SB so yeah – I like our chances this year.

    ———————————————–

Yeah now you’re just being a delusional homer.

    Vince Young 31-17
Matt Flynn 3-2, including a loss to DETROIT, in which he couldn’t hold on to a lead.

And stop acting like your perennial champions. As if the Packers have the Super Bowl locked up for the next 10 years because they have Aaron Rodgers and because ESPN blows the current champs.

Remember a team named the Saints? They were going to be perennial champs too according to ESPN.

Remember a guy named Peyton Manning? One of (if not the) greatest QB’s in the history of the game? How many rings does he have? ONE! Aaron Rodgers couldn’t hold Peyton’s no. 2 pencil from him clip board. I would say that his offenses have been just a “smudge” more prolific than your offense.

And how many teams have repeated as champs?

Come back to reality and realize that while the Packers have a chance of getting back to the Super Bowl and winning, those chances are slim to none.

Do you really think you are going to win again with the same bums on defense? Don’t you think that every team has the “one man down, next man up” philosophy?

IT RARELY WORKS! If your 3rd string guys were truly as good as your first string guys, THEY WOULD BE PLAYING FOR ANOTHER TEAM!

You caught lightening in a bottle, and it even surprised you. No one, including you’re dumb azz, thought that the Pack were gonna get that hot and win the Bowl.

Face it, leave out Clay, and there is just nothing that impressive about your defense. Clay can’t take enough juice to make EVERY play on the field.

So stop with your Steelers attitude. You’re not gonna the Bowl 20 times over like you think you are, and that is just reality.

    @norcaleagles,

“JSRDC, First of all, why do you cowboy fans keep bringing up the fact that your team beat us once last season? Do you really take pride in beating our 2nd and 3rd strings in a meaningles game for the Eagles”
    ________________________________

I was responding to an Eagle fan who brought it up – I didn’t solicit the argument. SB wins is what ultimately matters to me, not regular season games, although, to set the record straight, it was our 3rd string Qb McGee who started and beat Kolb who started for the Eagles that game. I guess Kolb was considered a scrub. And besides, a win is a win.

“And YES, your team is in bad “need” for a CB. You guys had a horrible secondary last season”.
    ________________________________

That bad need would be S, not CB. Newman had a good year, even though he had to fight through rib and ankle injuries, he started every game. Jenkins had an off year, but it was ball at S who had a horrible year. He was a CB converted to S,and it didn’t work out at all. It was also time for Wade to move on, and he did, just not how he would have liked to.

“I remember when Romo was healthy he was putting up great numbers, but you guys went 1-7 in the games he started because your secondary couldn’t stop anyone.”
    ______________________________

You aren’t telling me or any other Cowboy fan something we don’t already know. Having said that, the Cowboys were in most games, only losing three by 8 points or more. So, we couldn’t stop anybody, but we were able to put up points against most teams. This year, with Ryan on board, and Elam brought in at S (who played under Ryan) the D will be improved quite a bit, IMO. And, if the D can get to the opposing QB, that will help the db’s that much more, something that ALSO wasn’t there last year.

All this chatter and publicity between the Eagles and the Cowboys…….

……while the Redskins quietly stockpile impressive young talent, trim the fat, release malcontents and stay out of the limelight.

Is this bizzaro-world? Whatever it is, as a Skin’s fan, I LOVE IT.

    Have at it Dallas/Philly!

I cant Believe all the Retarded Comments about Ryans Weight. Who gives a S**t what the guy looks like !! Hes not a Player, Hes on the Sideline !! And as for Philly beating Dallas. Ummm I dont think so. Dallas has beat them them several times. Including 3 times in ONE year !!! I’ll take Romo over Vick or Young ANY DAY !!

    ================================
Keep despising, because you aint going nowhere with John Beck at the helm in Washington. And before we slob on Packer knob, The Steelers nearly came back on them – they were by no means dominant at all – You dont turn the ball over on them, they’re just another team. This is a different season altogether , a lot of teams are starting all over again due to the lockout and injuries are bound to mount. Ryan still shouldnt have run his mouth, though.

  224. houndog50 says: Aug 7, 2011 9:50 PM

Geez Philly fans, Rob Ryan is nothin, if you listen to the talk comin’ out of Detroit, the Lions are going to kick your asses (and anyone else’s asses) all year long. So, if you make the playoffs you’re doomed right along with Packers, Saints, Falcons, and all the other NFC teams. 6-10 last year and their fans (and their GM) think they’re goin’ to the SB. Check it out!

CRUSH THE EAGLES! I WANNA SWEEP THEM DURING THE REGULAR SEASON, THEN GET THEM IN THE PLAYOFFS AGAIN AND REALLY KICK THE CRAP OUTTA THEM! THATS A SUPERBOWL IN ITSELF! BEAT THE ALL CRAP/DOG KILLER/CHEAPSHOT TEAM!!!
