Zach Miller expected to return to Raiders

Zach Miller AP

The highest remaining player on our Top 80 free agents list continues to wait for a new contract.  It looks like tight end Zach Miller will get that contract to stay in Oakland.

“People close to the situation paint a picture of Miller being told by the Raiders to be patient, wait for the Raiders to tie up other loose ends and free up the necessary salary cap room so that they can give him the kind of contract he deserves,” Steve Corkran of the Oakland Tribune writes.

The Raiders were expected to spend big to keep Miller all along, but we remain surprised one of the most complete players at his position in all of football hasn’t received more offers elsewhere. At least that we know about.

“Zach is still a free agent, and I’ve talked to him several times, and hopefully that situation will be resolved soon,” coach Hue Jackson said.

Corkran writes Miller will be back with the Raiders, likely by Thursday, barring a “last-minute jaw dropping offer” from another team and a change of heart from Oakland.

Al Davis has spent plenty to retain his key guys since the end of last season.  Miller has probably been the organization’s most consistent player since 2007, so the only surprise here is that it has taken so long to get his deal.

Come to Baltimore Zach, we just lost Heap and could use you here.

Like they did with Huff, I’m sure the Raiders already have the deal in place and they are just waiting to free up cap room to announce it.

Why have the Bills not signed this guy. They have not had a good TE in Years. PLS PLS PLS sign him.

Huff stated he could not keep from laughing when he would read all the Reports he was going to go to Dallas or some place else over the past couple months.

Huff stated at Raider camp that he has had a deal with the Raiders for a long time and was told he would be signed when allowed to sign and cap space was freed up.

Huff also stated he received many calls but told his agent he had no interest as he was Drafted a Raider and wanted to remain a Raider. When asked about why you have heard little on Miller he asked back why have you heard little on me. He stated he had talked to Miller Sunday and told the Reporters “I hope it works out”, with a huge smile.

It has also been reported out of Raider camp “Think the Raiders are sad regarding Nnamdi?, think again” They report last year during the Raiders chance at making the Playoffs Nnamdi had a minor injury and refused to take a shot and play. It was determined then that the aging CB would not be brought back and the Raiders made no offer to resign him.

Mid 20’s pro bowl player. Raiders would be smart to pay the big bucks to keep Miller.

I thought he would have been a good get for alot of teams. Arizona? Buffalo? Denver? Miami?

MILLER is part of the “family”
he would never sellout and leave like that scum bag asomough…. Other teams dont understand this cause they dont care about their own like the raiders do..
We run our team like a family not a business..
just look at our coaching staff its all former raiders….
The media likes to paint a negative picture of the oakland raiders but we all know the truth

This has been a pretty bleak free agency period for Oakland. I can’t believe they didn’t get any O-line help or secure a corner to take over for “He who shall not be mentioned”. I just can’t believe that we’re going into the season with Chris Johnson opposite Stanford Routt. Yikes. Plus, Jacoby Ford broke his hand.

I expected Miller to get a lot of offers and I was hoping Miami would have snagged him. I wonder what offers he has turned down already. Raiders have a good player in Miller

    @huejackson

Can we lose the “family” garbage? All we heard from the Raider faithful was about how Nnambi was part of the Raider family and would never leave. Now, surprise, surprise, he’s gone and we get the “sour grapes” attitude from you. News flash hue, IT’S A BUSINESS!!! This isn’t middle school where everybody’s sitting around the campfire singing “Kumba yah”. This is grown men sacrificing their bodies for millions of dollars. See the difference? Grow up!

What a dumb little bitch you are Hue. You have ZERO football knowledge, let alone the business model. Theoretically speaking, had we KEPT Nnamdi, your little piehole wouldn’t be leaking out so much ignorant text now, would it? Buster azz wanna be “fans” like yourself need to keep a lid on it and detach yourself from the fantasy world. Lets diagnose your “rant” step by step.

“Never sell out like scum”…really? All I have to say is RETARDED. Yea…because everyone who “left the franchise” for a variety of different reasons were “sellouts”. What a turd brain you are.
“Other teams don’t understand this”….again, really? And pardon me, but care to break it down where you majored in Business and how long you have been running an NFL team?

“We run our team like a family, not a business”…Well most of us just laughed at that idiotic notion because in case you didn’t notice…DRUM ROLL PLEASE….FOOTBALL IS A BUSINESS!!!!! TA-DAAAAAA! And it is RUN AS SUCH. NO ONE, I REPEAT, NO ONE IN THIS “BUSINESS” runs an organization like a “family”. You aren’t a fan. You are an uneducated ignorant moron who knows ZERO about the Raider organization, it’s history, nor it’s REAL LOYAL FANBASE. Slap yourself stupid for that rant. Fool.

boknowsvt, all is not lost. I for one am happy Al Davis did not just blindly hand Gaither or Cromartie a ton of money. In the past, Al has been too quick to spend freely on questionable players. Our O-line is shaky, but it was not terrible last year. Daniel Loper did fine when filling in for Gallery and he has taken his spot. There are a lot of FA’s out there still, so if we need more help we can go get it. Right tackle is a foggy picture.

Getting Zach Miller back is crucial. He is a great TE, a great Raider, and losing him would be noticeably worse than losing Nam. I really liked Nnamdi, but I think his loss will be less devastating than some people think. And Jacoby Ford should be ready before the preseason is over. He’ll be ok.

Yeah I’m a little worried that they haven’t been more active. They looked at Gaither but he didn’t pass his physical. How far over the cap are they right now?

we all knew this, and bottom line what’s the hurry, they can’t pratice until the 4th anyway. I think Wimbleys long term deal is not going as smooth as the raiders would like, and no way is wimbley worth the franchise tag he received.

I love the fact that all of the haters gotta get on here and slap some tex, until their dumbolt. Nothing more then haters.

Bottom line raiders biggest need last year was o-line. They addressed that with Wiz jr , Barksdale, and also now Campbell will get his opportunity as well now that Cablle is gone. With Veldeer, and Barnes/Henderson, I think we will be alright. Biggest addition is Wiz jr,. If he is anything like Steve he will play until the whistle blow, and then some. I personally do not like Cooper Carlisle, but what do I know. Nnamdi was great, but. DHB needs to have his breakout season, the same way McFadden has his last year. Also keep eye on the rookie TE from Miami.

Huff, Miller, Bush, Barnes, Moss, etc….they are all back to continue something they started, and want to finish it. We all knew Nnamdi was gone when Al tells everbody so in a press confernce. Nnamdi decision to miss out. Go Raiders!

  17. raiderfankirk says: Aug 1, 2011 1:49 PM

Don’t see any big losses. D was fine the games Nnamdi missed and thumped the queefs without him. Would love to have him back, but not for Tom Brady money. Little help at wolb would be good.

  18. raiderfankirk says: Aug 1, 2011 1:54 PM

Slapyourselfstupid looks like you have moron. Raiders look out for their own more than any other team.
