Colts sign Ernie Sims

Sims_Ernie

Ernie Sims is heading to Indianapolis.

Sims, the ninth overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft, has signed with the Colts.

The Lions drafted Sims and thought he had the potential to become a superstar. But while he started all 16 games in each of his first three seasons, he never became quite the player they thought he would in Detroit.

In 2010 Sims signed with the Eagles and started 15 games. Now he’s expected to earn a starting job with the Colts.

watched Simms all year long with the Eagles last season… guy is fast.. thats about it.. undersized.. easily blocked.. total disapointment.. mediocre at best

Good. Get him as far away from Philly as possible. The only thing you can count on him for is potentially hurting relevant players during non-contact drills in training camp.

This guy would be awesome….. in flag football

I’d rather the Colts have kept Clint Session.

Ernie Sims is average at best. He misses tackles and has no on field awarness.

I would have rather had the Colts kept Charlie Johnson and moved him to LB. Sims craps the bed.

The Eagles technically traded from him last year but ssshhh will Joe Banner enjoys his 5 minutes.

As a Lions fan I can tell you Ernie over pursues EVERY PLAY! He is fast but small for his position. Another Millen Bust! But he at least was always a class act and never got hurt. (Maybe becuase he never really tackled anyone)!

Wow….The Colts just added another linebacker who can’t tackle. I admire the Polians for keeping this tradition alive in indianapolis, especially when this year’s free agency crop was sure to unintentionally break the mold for them. This has got to be hard work to find NFL caliber players who cannot tackle, but the Polians find these guys each and every year. Can’t wait to see this defense this year:)

Man he looks like a serial killer in that Pic !

He was terrible for the Eagles….always out of position….speed is great but it doesn’t help you if you’re never in the right place. He did have a good game against Indy….maybe they didn’t watch any other film on him?

So many haters. Admittedly I haven’t seen much of his on field play but the Colts are a system team and a guy who is fast with a good motor fits the Colts mold. Can’t tackle? He averaged 124 tackles per year his first 3 yrs. And he has played at least 15g in 4 of his 5 years.

Nice pickup for the Colts, very low risk cheap pickup that could have high reward. He’ll he may not even make the team, but maybe he might see this as one of his last chances and bust his butt. Anybody that saw this guy play in college know he has talent. Some guys just don’t fit some systems, maybe that’s what happened in Detroit and Philly. I think on paper he fits the colts system well. He is fast and undersized LB exactly what the Colts Tampa 2 system is all about. Not taking on offensive lineman but using their speed to run in space and make plays.
We will see in camp how bad he wants it, he better show up or Polian will drop his ass in a heartbeat.

Can Ernie Sims fool another team for another 16 games? I was shocked at this guy last year. I dont think he studied any film. Was lost all season.

Thats what I don’t understand t16rich, if he is as bad as all these Eagles fans say he is on these comments then why the hell did he start 15 games last season. Either the front office and coach’s are idiots and did not notice his terrible play or they had no one better.

That will not happen in Indy, Gary Brackett is one starter and we have two up and coming rookies (Pat Angerer and Kavell Conner) that both played well when Clint Session went down last season. He better play well to beat out those guys.

Les Bowen did a run down of the Eagles defense last season. Some of the players played exceptional (Asante Samuel), most of the others played average. However, the stats showed that the reason the defense was so terrible was the CB opposite Samuel and Ernie Sims.

Good luck with “Cinnabon Sims,” Colts fans!

The most entertaining thing about this guy is his nickname. And that’s not saying much.

The D. Coordinator (Sean McDermott) was an idiot.

They also had no one better. The Eagles keep LB at the lowest priority on defense.

He’d be a good backup, I guess, but a horrible starter.
