The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Blaine Gabbert to replace David Garrard as the team’s franchise quarterback. But right now, Gabbert says he has a long way to go before he’s ready to replace Garrard.

“I’m learning from a great quarterback,” Gabbert said. “David’s the starting quarterback of this football team.”

Garrard has faced some criticism in Jacksonville, but Gabbert has nothing but positive things to say about the man ahead of him on the depth chart.

“He’s the starting quarterback. He’s a heck of a football player. When people say he’s not, that’s wrong,” Gabbert said.

But the Jaguars only chose Gabbert because they think he’s going to be a better quarterback.
