Roddy White: If media won’t put Moss in Canton, give the vote to players

The members of the media who vote for the Pro Football Hall of Fame are divided on whether Randy Moss is worthy of induction in Canton. That makes one active player very unhappy.

As far as Falcons receiver Roddy White is concerned, Moss is a slam-dunk first-ballot Hall of Famer, and if the voters don’t realize that then they don’t deserve to be voters.

“Just walked in the door and the question on NFL network is randy moss a 1st ballot hall of famer,” White wrote on Twitter. “If he don’t get in on the first ballot than only football players should vote for the hall of fame cause than means u just hating on moss.”

White may have a point that players should have some say in the Hall of Fame selection process. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to include some former players on the Hall of Fame panel.

But there are also completely legitimate reasons to vote against Moss: He was a constant headache who eventually wore out his welcome with every team he played on, and he has fewer catches and yards than Tim Brown, who has been voted down by the Hall of Fame selection committee.

So if the voters think Moss is not a Hall of Famer, they’re not necessarily “just hating on” him. But White may be right that players should have a vote.
