Seahawks sign Zach Miller

Denver Broncos v Oakland Raiders Getty Images

Zach Miller is heading to Seattle.

Miller, the tight end who was one of the best remaining NFL free agents available, has made a surprising decision to sign with the Seahawks after it looked like he would stay with the Raiders, ESPN is reporting.

The Raiders took Miller in the second round of the 2007 draft, and he’s been their starting tight end since. Last year he led the Raiders in catches (60), receiving yards (685) and receiving touchdowns (five).

Miller will be the Seahawks’ starter at tight end, and perhaps Tarvaris Jackson’s most important receiver.

  4. footballfanatic3431 says: Aug 2, 2011 5:19 PM

The Raiders just lost their 2 of their top 3 players.

But if you ask their fans, they are going to compete for the Super Bowl this year.

    Goodluck Zach.

Great pickup for the Seahawks. T-Jack will be targeting him often as a safety valve when he sees his primary receiver isn’t wide open.

  8. onebadace says: Aug 2, 2011 5:20 PM

I don’t know who to blame in Oakland for letting Miller walk, but this is a huge blow for their offense.

  9. JackLeone says: Aug 2, 2011 5:20 PM

Almost everyone is bolting from OAK. You would think after such a turn around last season, the player would want to see what they could build upon. I guess not…… carry on then.

  17. woods546 says: Aug 2, 2011 5:23 PM

This is terrible. Nnamdi was bound to leave. No one thought Miller was going anywhere. This is a major hit to the Raiders’ offense. How the Raiders messed this up is beyond comprehension.

  19. bobwhitequail says: Aug 2, 2011 5:24 PM

Schneider and Carroll are the Anti-Ruskell. Tim Ruskell, the former GM, seemed to only draft midgets. These guys only get giants. Mike WIlliams 6’5″, Miller 6’5″ (I think), Sydney Rice (6’4″). All primary targets are huge.

  27. buzzkillbill says: Aug 2, 2011 5:27 PM

Yikes. a coupe of 6’4″/6’5″ wide outs coupled with a couple of the same size TE’s in Carlson and Miller… Looks like T-Jack should have the quick, short pass thing pretty much figured out!

    Williams
    Rice
    Tate
    Miller
    Carlson

    I like it.

  28. pftrumors says: Aug 2, 2011 5:28 PM

Carlson, Miller, Rice, Tate, a little bit of Beast Mode Lynch. I’d say the Rams will have to fit a bit harder for dominance in the NFC West.

  29. majorseahawk says: Aug 2, 2011 5:28 PM

  32. stealthhawk says: Aug 2, 2011 5:29 PM

Before anyone says “How are all these Seahawks receivers going to get any catches with T-Jax there?” again, please remember that Jackson is only a stop-gap.

The Seahawks WILL draft a QB early next year and may even go after Palmer again after he is released from the evil clutches of Mike Brown.

If Jackson can’t be at least serviceable with all the weapons Carroll and Schneider just provided him than the entire league will know 100% (not just Vikings fans) that he indeed sucks.

As for now, things are looking good for Jackson and the Seahawks.

  33. ratbastardshanahandjob says: Aug 2, 2011 5:29 PM

Al wants to know who this Zach Miller guy is. He still thinks the Raider TE is Dave Casper……

The Raiders will win again when this abomination known as Al Davis is gone……

The Al Davis Commitment To Excrement continues……

  34. emil4423 says: Aug 2, 2011 5:29 PM

  35. therolandobottom says: Aug 2, 2011 5:29 PM

If the Raiders want to win a single game this year they need to sign Kevin Boss, Mike Bush, Carlos Rogers, Kirk Morrison and Malcom Floyd by tonight. This might be the worst offseason I have ever been a part of as a Raider fan.

  36. valhallarising says: Aug 2, 2011 5:30 PM

It’s sad that Zach Miller moves to the Seahawks and T-Jack is actually a quarterback upgrade for him…

  37. wojowbk says: Aug 2, 2011 5:30 PM

“Great pickup for the Seahawks. T-Jack will be targeting him often as a safety valve when he sees his primary receiver isn’t wide open.”

And then he’ll proceed to rifle the ball at the Gatorade cooler on the sidelines.

  39. shackdelrio says: Aug 2, 2011 5:31 PM

Still not sure why Arizona didn’t pursue him. Alot younger and more productive in recent years than Heap.

  40. wojowbk says: Aug 2, 2011 5:31 PM

Well at least we still have…uh…….ummm……..oh that’s right we don’t have anyone else that can actually catch the ball. But man do they run fast!

  41. forthelove says: Aug 2, 2011 5:31 PM

This is really bad news for the Raiders. Hue Jackson has a lot of upside as the new coach, but the Raiders are definitely suffering some collateral damage for letting Cable go (e.g. both Gallery and Miller leaving for the Seahawks).

  42. bleedblue18 says: Aug 2, 2011 5:32 PM

Nice pick up Seahawks, Miller is a good TE.

  53. stampnhawk says: Aug 2, 2011 5:37 PM

Solid signing. With Jackson, SEA needs a solid TE as a check down guy. Carlson was a Hasselbeck favourite until last year, when he developed a case of the dropsies (Wildcard game removed, one good catch, one where a fallen Saints defender left him wide open). With no Matt around, he was certainly in limbo.

Special thanks to Al last year for pending over the cap and dividing the locker room with handling Cable the way he did…netted us a coach and two solid players.

Best Seahawks recieving corps, on paper, in a number of years, by far….required with the question marks at QB.

  54. oakfan23 says: Aug 2, 2011 5:38 PM

LOL!! Relax Raiderfans, I love Zach too, but he’s a tight end. They will save a ton of money signing a guy like Kevin Boss or Carlson when he is released. Zach is going up to play with Tavaris Jackson, and then Charlie Whitehurst when Jackson is benched. I can’t believe Zach signed up for that. Boss or Carlson can be very good in Oakland’s offense as well. Don’t forget, Jackson and Saunders are offense guys, they’ll make it work. Oakland is building the kind of culture that wins in the NFL, you don’t see Pittsburgh and New England and Indy, spending a fortune in free agency, when guys leave, its the next guy up and Keep it moving!! Keep winning because there is a good culture and good coaching in those places. That’s what Hue keeps saying, “next man up” Im loving what he’s doing, im tired of spending a fortune on guys and being medioce, if we’re gonna lose, lets lose without 5 or 6 max contracts on the roster. This is the turnaround guys, just let it take its course, see the bigger picture.

  55. raider17 says: Aug 2, 2011 5:38 PM

Its ok Raider fans. Let’s sign Boss from the Giants and keep it moving. He was a cable guy! Let him go! We march on! We only want guys that WANT to be here. We will be fine. Going to Seattle? I’ll let that speak for itself.

    Long Live Al Davis!!!

Raiders… love you, but you let this one slip away. Waited way too long to re-sign him, thinking he would always be loyal and just keep waiting for you. Miller knew this, and since the Raiders acted like they were going to take him for granted, he walked. Raiders alone are responsibile for this one.

  60. 808raiderinparadise says: Aug 2, 2011 5:42 PM

And if Zach’s dad reads this….this happened at the neighborhood postal annex in Ahwatukee where Zach grew up and his family lives. I was standing in line behind him and all the employees were telling him they hope his son comes to the cardinals. Oh well….we lost another one.

Bush is tendered. i agree on boss. i would also like Rogers maybe Floyd, but WE NEED O LINEMAN MORE THAN ANYTHING.
but if we didn’t add any other offensive players, this offense would still be 10 times better than any of the Collins/Jamarcus/etc. offenses.
And LB is probably the second lowest priority for this team right now (behind Safety).

Anyone who thought that the owners would get a bigger piece of the revenue, a dramatically reduced rookie wage cap, AND get veteran players to agree to push back UFA does not deserve to be making personnel decisions for an NFL team. How hard was it to figure out that free agency would return to normal after a new CBA was signed?

You know how many of those Super Bowls were won while Zach Miller has been alive?

    Zero.

You Raider fans keep thinking you have some kind of tradition and mystique. The only ones who remember those Super Bowls are you. The rest of us remember the team that set the NFL record for most consecutive 10-loss seasons….and given the way you’re letting talent escape, there will be a lot more of those in the future, before any more Lombardi trophies.

  74. tjacks7 says: Aug 2, 2011 5:53 PM

I’m generally a firm believer in building through the draft. But this free agency period is unlike any other in recent memory and the Seahawks capitalized. If Jackson can play average consistently and limit the turnovers, this offense could explode.

I have no clue about their defense though.

Miller is the first person to leave this off season that the Raiders weren’t prepared for…. this includes Cable Gallery and Nnamdi.
    ________________________
There is a huge difference between knowing someone is going to leave and being prepared for them to leave. Who is Nnamdi’s replacement, and who will pick up the slack now that Gallery is gone? Were they prepared for Higgans to leave too? Face it, players with options are deserting the franchise. I don’t say that to belittle Raiders fans. In fact, I feel sorry for them. They deserve so much more from the organization they support. I’ve heard and read so many reports about how chaotic the organization is, however. How long do you really expect players with options to remain in that kind of situation? Some can be convinced to stay by overpaying them, and some can’t. Either way, with the salary cap back in place, you can only overpay just so many players.

  86. Grinds My Gear says: Aug 2, 2011 6:00 PM

Also love the guys who are dogging T-Jack when their QB is Jason “Dump Off” Campbell. He may have a down field arm, but he’s got a screen pass brain. It’s just as well. The great DHB can’t get open and can’t catch anyway.

  91. andyreidisfat says: Aug 2, 2011 6:08 PM

I would love what the Seahawks have done had they kept Hasselback. In fact i even think they might be somewhat of a contender considering they beat the Saints last year in the playoffs.

But iwth Jackson as your starter i just can’t see the Hawks being better than the Cards. Only one team is going to come out of the west once agian in the the NFC and the Cards have the best QB in the division so i’d still put my money on them. now if Jackson can somehow play well and he has the targets to do it then maybe the Seahawks are a contender.

As for the Raiders i don’t get it. You let maybe the 2nd or 3rd best offensive tightend get away from your team. Miller is a beast as a pass catcher and a real nice safety for any QB. Big mishap letting him go. Even if you sign Boss who is a good blocker but only average as a pass catcher it is not replacing Miller. That being said i hope they do get Boss as he is a good blocker ad with out him Babin will have an easier time to get to Baby Manning sour puss

  93. Dusty Grey says: Aug 2, 2011 6:09 PM

So the Raiders have their best season since their last Superbowl appearance, so of course Al Davis fires the head coach and then goes on to lose three of their best FAs. What the hell is going on in Oakland. It might be time for the NFL to step in under conservatorship.

Actually, Davis let Miller walk because he doesn’t run a sub 4.0 on his 40 time. Same thing for Gallery now that I think about it…

For the Seahawks, their 2TE sets line now looks like this: Rice, Carlson, Miller, Okung, Gallery, Unger, Moffitt, Carpenter, Williams. That’s a lot of big bodies up front. To that end, every 3rd and Long play is pretty much just going to be game of Flyers Up in the center of the field…

And no, the Seahawks wont release Carlson. He’s on his rookie contract, and they dont need the roster or cap room.

    ============================

Who on Earth would use this quote other than someone mocking Al Davis? Here are a couple of suggestions for new Raider sayings:

    A commitment to irrelevance.

    Just cover baby!!!

    theashleyguy says: Aug 2, 2011 5:57 PM

Now all the Seahawks need is a great Cornerback. We have the money so go get Asante Samuel. He wants to be wanted and he’s just been demoted to third best CB. Come to the Hawks and make us an NFC champion contender.
    ________________________
Not just a matter of money. The Seahawks would have to be able to offer up something the Eagles really want, and the Eagles don’t trade valuable players at a discount. Just ask the Cardinals.

  97. sdboltsfan says: Aug 2, 2011 6:14 PM

As a Charger fan, I’m relieved. Chargers can’t seem to cover TE’s.

  98. pacificnw7722 says: Aug 2, 2011 6:14 PM

GREAT signing by Seattle……now go get CB Asante Samuel and call it a good FA period.

  99. stanklepoot says: Aug 2, 2011 6:16 PM

Grinds My Gear says: Aug 2, 2011 6:00 PM

5 years, $34m and $17m guaranteed. They can keep him. He’s making just a small bit less than Vernon Davis (the highest paid TE).
Miller is now the 2nd highest paid TE.
    ______________________
Miller managed to thrive with Russell, Gradkowski, and Campbell under center. Miller earned that money.

  100. theashleyguy says: Aug 2, 2011 6:17 PM

You said that “All Seattle needs is a cornerback and a ball that throws itself.” Fair enough. But there are two parts to the answer there: First, with a hugely improved offensive line and two blocking tight ends, Jackson doesn’t have to do much throwing–just hand the thing off and hit a few short passes. Second, he was doing extremely well before Favre showed up. This is a chance to prove himself. Oh and did I mention that with the tallest receivers in the NFL and two blocking TES, and a greatly improved Offensive Line, we are also unstoppable in the Red Zone?

  101. vahawker says: Aug 2, 2011 6:17 PM

You guys still harping on T Jack? You don’t honestly believe he was brought in to be the QB of the future? He will hold down the fort until the Hawks pick up the REAL QB of the future.

  102. favresgrundle says: Aug 2, 2011 6:17 PM

I am so pissed off about this!

    signed….J. Peppers

  103. stealthhawk says: Aug 2, 2011 6:18 PM

Todd Haley’s Temper says: “Ok you want more recent? 33-3, and that was the last game between the 2 franchises.”

And that matters how? Regular season buddy. Raiders didn’t make the playoffs and the Seahawks did. You’ll all bitch and moan about how it was the division and maybe it was but they still handed it to the defending SB champs.

    Sourgrapes Raiders fans.

  104. red513 says: Aug 2, 2011 6:20 PM

Pete must really love Cable or really hate Al, $7 million a year???
Zach is a good TE, but $7 mil/year $17 mil guaranteed is way too rich. Wow.

  105. stealthhawk says: Aug 2, 2011 6:21 PM

Also gotta love Raiders fans who sniffed Zach Miller’s jockstrap the past few years now retracting and saying “Good riddance”. I told you that would happen. That’s just the mentality of that classless fanbase in a nutshell.

They also make fun of our stop-gap QB in Tarvaris Jackson when their starter is Jason Campbell AND they have no weapons for him to throw to.

How about you evaluate your own crummy situation before trying to belittle those of teams that are looking better than your own?

  111. envywv says: Aug 2, 2011 6:27 PM

I love the Raiders, but this still sucks. I don’t see how someone would go to a different system with a questionable QB situation unless it really is that bad in the background or the money was that big of an opinion swayer.
Only thing to do at this point is see what happens in the season.

  112. okldrdrs2111 says: Aug 2, 2011 6:28 PM

With T Jackson as QB the seahawks will have the same record as last year, the pathetic part about that is that it might be enough to get to the playoffs again!

  113. r8rsfan says: Aug 2, 2011 6:30 PM

This is a setback. Makes no sense at all. If Al wanted Miller he would have signed him before he visited Seattle. I want to be optimistic but in all reality, Jason freaking Campbell is the QB, the O-line is one of the worst in football, Stanford Routt is a starting CB (wouldn’t even be a nickel on most teams), DHB must have pics of Al with a goat or something cuz he’s the worst WR I’ve ever seen. They may just follow up that undefeated in the division thing by losing every game in the division this season. I predict a long, angry season in Oaktown.

  114. p4hbiz says: Aug 2, 2011 6:32 PM

Why would hawks cut Carlson when he is making 620k? You got a shot at boss and that’s it. No one else healthy in your receiving core can actually catch…but man are they sure fast. Oh and have fun sharing a stadium in a couple years with the 9ers, you guys deserve each other!!!

  116. jaxuar says: Aug 2, 2011 6:33 PM

How do ya lose your best player on offense and best player on defense. Raider fans…hang in there. It’s a shame that all you passionate fans have to deal with this nonsense!!

  117. JSpicoli says: Aug 2, 2011 6:34 PM

How much did he get is the question. Brandon Myers was not that much of a dropoff when Zach was down last year.

  118. stealthhawk says: Aug 2, 2011 6:35 PM

The Seahawks O-line sucks? They just spent two consecutive first round picks on book-end tackles in Okung and Carpenter as well as Moffitt at RG (draft) and Gallery at LG (via free agency). Unger is the starting Center.

They’re a predominantly young O-line that’s going to experience growing pains at first but to say they “suck” just shows how ignorant you are.

Finding a smart comment on here is like finding a needle in the haystack. Maybe that’s unfair, maybe it’s just Bay Area and Vikings fans though. Yeah, that’s it.

  119. 1bigtex says: Aug 2, 2011 6:36 PM

Please have pity on our poor friend, p4hbiz. He’s been wrong so many times this off-season that if you’re getting ready to leave for lunch at noon and p4hbiz tells you that the sun is shining, get ready to use your headlights.
It must be tough living in the “SPORTS CAPITAL OF THE WORLD” and yet not having a pro football team. On the plus side, I do believe that LA has 4 different lingerie basketball teams. That must be worth something.

  120. eegwaybeegway says: Aug 2, 2011 6:37 PM

I’m an objective Vikings fan who has followed Tarvaris and I think he’ll have a great year for the Hawks … much better than anyone expects. He’s shown progress with his game in the last year he had significant playing time (winning 3 of 4 down the stretch to get the Vikings into the playoffs) and he gives you a dual threat, being able to tuck it in and run for a first down when the defense allows. Don’t buy into the “jump pass” BS that I see other posting. He did that a few times early in his career, but resolved that issue when his mechanics improved. Just look at his QB rating … it’s improved every year his playing time increased. You’re going to have a great year Seahawks fans!

  121. dstep24 says: Aug 2, 2011 6:38 PM

Miller is a bum? Really? So if you worked for a multiple personality disordered, narcissistic, senile nut job who’d be better suited running North Korea than an NFL team, and a cutting edge organization across the way offered you $17 Million guaranteed, you’d qualify for “bum” status too?

  122. ampking101 says: Aug 2, 2011 6:40 PM

I am ecstatic I decided to pick up Zach Miller in my fantasy league. There will be a lot of Jackson to Miller this season.

Anyways huge sign for the Seahawks. I have a place in my heart for the Seahawks (they kicked the Saints out of the playoffs and I am an Atlanta fan). Glad to see him go somewhere where he has a chance of shining.

  123. hittinhawks says: Aug 2, 2011 6:45 PM

He didn’t want to play for your poo butt team with your crappy stadium, facilities, owner, front office Bahahahaha us Hawk fans are willing to accept Tavaris may not be the answer for us it’s 50 50 he does well or he stinks and we pick up a qb (maybe luck) next year when we look at the next ten years our franchise will be much better than yours. Rather be a hawks fan and be looking towatds the future than a raiders fan lugging in the past. Date hate the Seahawks hate your owner lol

  124. theashleyguy says: Aug 2, 2011 6:46 PM

Not only is the Seattle Offensive Line young but very exciting, they also have the power of two blocking TEs, Miller and Carlson. Couple that with the fact that Cable took Oakland’s rushing from 29th to 6th in the NFL in just one season and now Cable is coaching at Seattle, and we have the framework for an exciting year. It’s going to be MUCH better than anybody ever anticipated.

  125. merc13 says: Aug 2, 2011 6:49 PM

  128. p4hbiz says: Aug 2, 2011 6:53 PM

I would have slammed the door in miller face for asking for 17million dollars… Ohh, Ok!! I’m not Mad now, they’re trying to pull one over on a 83yr old man…

He can have that water park of a city, Get boss or let Myers start from last year and we will be fine.

Oh, and tell Gallery our line is better without the 5missed games every season from you.

  129. blackfootkiller says: Aug 2, 2011 6:59 PM

Yeah, the Raiders won 3 Super Bowls. Funny thing is, most of their ‘hardcore’ fans weren’t even alive when that last happened! The biggest statement the Raiders make anymore is that their gear is the preferred costume of gangbangers. Face it, Oakland is a place that you ship players you don’t like.
It’s a place where NFL careers go to die.
It is the crumbling Black Hole of suck.

He seems to shoot himself in the foot and this was was a capital “S” Shane wasn’t a happy camper so guess the Raiders should be looking for a punter soon cause he’ll be leaving as soon as he can. Al has totally lost all respect from me. I valued his talent in previous years, but this one takes the cake. Is Todd Heap still available or maybe Kevin Boss? Not quite as good as Miller, but would be a help. Could someone try to commit Al before he destroys his fan base?? I’ve been a Raider fan for years, but he’s trying my patience. :-(

That’s a good point because let’s face it–over the years, the Raiders have always been a paragon of virtue. I know that when I want to teach my kids about honor and class, I always say “Oh, please please act like those good citizens, the Raiders.”

  139. radrntn says: Aug 2, 2011 7:20 PM

well it sucks, bottom line…but not the end of the world…kinda gotta laugh although that the raiders have been pretty much dfl in the league in allowing sacks the past 3 to 4 years, and now they got cable, gallery, and miller , all of who were part of the problem….will say raiders were better o-line with cable as o-line coach, and not head coach…o-line sucked big time while he was head coach, and miller and gallery were part of that.

as far as miller he has great soft hands, but whiffs on blocking…most blitzes and sacks allowed came on his side…if he learns to block then he should be a pro bowl player, and not an alternate behind miller and gates….gotta wonder if he ever makes one again now that miller, davis, witten, and rookies like ruldoph, and kendricks are all in the nfc.

best thing for raiders in the offensive guard is the easiest position in the nfl to fill, and tight end is probably the next….maybe time to call boss from the giants…at least he is a better blocker.

Well, if that’s all you have to cheer about, good luck and don’t let all that rain mush your brains, because your trophy case is rather empty. And yes, your 7-9 team did make the playoffs last year. You must be so proud.

    Division Titles:
    Seattle= 7
    Oakland= 12

    Superbowl Trophies:
    Seattle=0
    Well, you know the rest.

  143. orthodoxdj says: Aug 2, 2011 7:25 PM

Why do people always talk about how long ago a team’s last Superbowl win was, or how many SB wins a team has? I’m not a fan because my team is good. I’m a fan because I’m a fan. Otherwise, it’s called bandwagon jumping. Even if I knew my team would never win a SB (the Eagles, for example), I would still watch every game.

really , miller is the only surprise i can think of…let see they resigned routt, huff, wimbley, barnes, moss, williams, condo, cartwright , seymour etc……who besides miller really left that we didn’t pretty much show the door…..all honesty Kevin Boss avg 15 ypc, vs miller 10 ypc, and he can block.

If we sign Boss for less then miller money, it’s all good.

You Raiders fans talking about the past just crack me up. That’s all you got? Your “Hall of Fame” players are all living in senior citizen homes, bragging about their glory days back in the 70s. Nobody under the age of 40 has ever even seen a Raiders team that was relevant, and no that SuperBowl ass-whooping you got handed to you by Gruden doesn’t count.

The Seahawks have been dominant compared to the Raiders over the last few decades. The last time the Raiders were relevant, disco was still in style and Dan Marino was a young QB on the rise.

We at least have a shot at a SuperBowl in the next decade, you have NONE. When the Seahawks win a SuperBowl, you’ll still be sitting at home in your cute silver makeup, super-gluing doll skulls and plastic spikes to your cute little halloween costumes while watching Al Davis’ stuffed corpse chase every winning coach and player out of town. There is no bigger joke in professional sports than the Raiders. Even though I’m an atheist, I’m tempted to accept the existence of a god just because of the sheer beauty and magnificence of the karmic crash of the Raiders organization over the last 30 years. Now excuse me while I go put on a Stabler jersey and hit the dance floor with some groovy disco moves. It’s Raiders Glory Time!! Too bad their glory days have been over so long you can’t even find those games on VHS tape. That’s okay, I got an 8mm film projector around here somewhere and some old film reels of those glorious Raider days. Yawn.

All of you are rediculous. Cable didn’t turn the Raiders offense around last year Hue Jackson did. Our O Coordinator. Cable was the black sheep with a head set. All credit went to Hue Jackson and Mike Wauffle on D. Zach is also injury proned riddled with concussions and consistent foot injuries. Multiple surgeries. Pretty banged up for how young he is. The TE position is easy to fill and there’s always someone who steps up and makes a name for them self. Who cares that Zach left. It’s not the end of the world. The Raiders are a jaugernut rushing the ball and should have better production with their recieving core Schillens, Murphy, and Ford. Word is Denarious Moore is looking really good as a rookie in camp too. Ala Jacoby Ford. Let the young guys play and have a chance to be successful on this league. We couldn’t afford both Nnamdi and Zach Miller anyway with the new CBA cutting the salary cap down. The Raiders D will still be nasty like they were last year. 2nd in the league in sacks. The running game should NE even better. And they have better OLine coaches now after dumping that bum Tom Cable. The Wiz will get the O Line working hard and better than past years. They have upgraded but are still young. They only have time to grow together as a unit. Jason Campbell should have a great year working in his 2nd year in the system with Hue, and having O Coordinator Al Saunders working with him again like he did in Washington. Jason already knows his playbool. Oakland will still be Solid and should be scary good in a year or two. Still zn 8-8,9-7 team for now. Like Hue says “Next man up”. Hatred will hate, but Raider Nation will have the last laugh when they start to dominate. Bye Zach, Nnamdi, and broke back Gallery. Raiders will be fine.

With 6 concussions in three years, there was no way the Raiders were about to pay money like that for Zach Miller. It was a tough loss, but they’ll move on. It tells you that the Raiders have to trade picks for players rather than trade down and stockpile picks once free agency is going to reduce your roster.

A GM is needed to re-arrange things at some point when Al Davis “moves on”.

    The Seahawks have been dominant

yep being the first losing team in the history of the nfl to make the playoffs is dominant

Lets face it the nfc west has been by far the absolute worse division in football for the past couple of decades and you only won the afc west twice in your 25+ years, and you have an overall losing record….

gotta love your dominance…please keep it going, one of these decades you might have to by a trophy case…….that is if the nfl stll allows losing teams in the playoffs.

Just like the “other” Bay Area team, all you guys can do is talk about the accolades of teams that are decades old while your current team sinks into oblivion.

The mediocre Raiders would have won your division just last season, you ignorant tool.

Miller, while visiting Seahawks practice facility:

“There’s no broken glass or old syringes on this field!” or

“Wow this sure isn’t the napa wine country is it!”

Miller, while leaving Seahawks practice facility:

“No one stole the rims off my rental car!”
or ” heck i actually have to drive a rental car now, al use to provide lomo’s for his players”

    Miller while entering SeaTac Airport:

“There are 90% fewer crack-dealers outside of this airport!” or ” OMG i need an umbrella and it’s only august, i never owned an umbrella before”

On being asked about the seahawks legacy, “well you know they have had great players here in the past like……….uhhhh, hmmmmm, well you know..uhhhh steve largent , yeh steve largent, they have a great legacy ya know. I am proud to be part of that great legacy now!”

Raider Nation is merely a polite way to say “retarded.”. Tell me about their hall of famers and super bowls….oh wait the HOFers are basically all dead and the last Super Bowl they won was the year before the last dinosaur became extinct. Instead of throwing batteries at visiting teams in the black hole this year, why don’t you do the NFL (and the world) a favor and throw them at each other.

It is just so frickin’ hilarious to hear all you little babies whine about your respective teams.

Number one – Seattle fans need to shut the F up…you haven’t won anything – EVER!

Number two – Raider fans need to shut the F up…stop living in the past and deal with the simple fact that this team reached a level of ineptitude that quite possibly will never be matched again with 7 straight seasons of 11 or more losses…unbelievable.

Let’s leave it on the field people…and since they don’t play each other this year (except for preseason), then the only way they will face one another is in the SuperBowl.

So I guess what I am saying is you all need to just shut the F up and see how the season plays out…that is all.

  174. radrntn says: Aug 2, 2011 10:02 PM

well on the bright side at least zach was moe…..he was better then a #2 pick larry, who had to move inside because he was a bust at tackle, and curly “who was a victim of circumstance” because he couldn’t coach , but had one hell of an overhand right. Maybe the stooges can now audition for the wizard of oz, Cable can play the scarecrow since he did not have the wits to coach, miller can play the tin man since he showed no love to the nation, and gallery can play the lion, because in all reality he was suppose to be one of the best offensive lineman ever, only to be a bust.

Maybe if the stooges get it together they can help the hawks find the emerald superbowl city….but I grew tire of watching cable, and gallery….miller i will miss, but he does have a busted coconut upstairs, and once that thing gets cracked, it tends to crack more easily each time…twice last year…i expect at least three this year with the first one being on sept 2nd

Pal, the big picture is that until the Crypt Keeper dies or some kind judge declares him mentally incompetent, the Silver and Black are in big trouble.

Much like my Cowgirls, the once proud Raiders are led by a person who who simply has no business making football decisions.

Have you noticed how Jerruh is looking more and more like Al – very scary indeed…

I’m still waiting to hear what players on Seattle are better than Seymour and McFadden???? Miller went for the money, lets be real! Seattle is lacking in so many positions it’s not even funny, qb being the biggest and most important. I hope they have some inside info that they are gonna get Carson Palmer tomorrow, because I’m not seeing it. I don’t mean any disrespect to Hawks fans that actually know what they are talking about, just the ones that love to hate the Raiders. We all know that if Oakland signed Miller today to that contract you would be saying how crazy Al overpaid again. Thats just the truth

  177. chadinkc30 says: Aug 2, 2011 10:41 PM

As for Oakland getting #1 pick, you have nooooooooo idea what you are talking about! How has that team across the bay doing this off-season, whos coach just happened to coach Luck? I think we know who is looking for #1 pick

T-Jack is NOT the answer. Sorry, Seachickens. He’s not a very mobile QB. Looks like he should be, but he’s average at best and has terrible pocket presence. More than Favre, his inability to stay healthy after minor hits limited and derailed any progress or momentum he had with the Vikings and let me tell you he was GIVEN every chance to succeed cuz Chilly wanted to prove his ego right. Favre was a last resort that worked out for a year. TJack, a young competitor, offered no resistance to having Favre take his spot. Not exactly the mark of a true leader, eh? And as for supporting cast, he had Sydney (also a bit of a china doll), AP, Percy, Shiancoe, etc. and still did nothing but look ok against bad teams and dreadful against anything with a pulse. It’s not bitterness that fuels this comment. You should be excited about your squad…I like your team and coach and city…but trust me TJoke ain’t a NFL QB. No fire in his eyes, terrible footwork, and can’t stay healthy.

Great pickup for the Seahawks. T-Jack will be targeting him often as a safety valve when he sees his primary receiver isn’t wide open.

    ————————

clearly you seahawk fans have never seen Tarvaris Jackson, because anyone who’s seen him will know that TJack can’t read past his primary WR.
    ____________

I’m a Viking fan and I was pointing out that T-Jack can’t read past his primary receiver and won’t throw it to him unless he’s wide open. He’ll look for the tight end standing 3 yards downfield. Apparently my T-Jack rip wasn’t obvious enough, judging by the 124-23 thumps up to thumbs down ratio.

I’ve hated the LA Raiders since my childhood, when I attended the 1983 AFC Champ Game at the Colliseum and Marcus Allen single-handedly stomped the Seahawks. My hatred wasn’t satiated by the beatdown we handed the LA Raiders in the following season’s playoffs.

Imagine my glee when Al Davis went nuts in the early 90s, perhaps from a zombie bite, and ran Marcus Allen out of town. It was great watching him leave and go to the Chiefs, who promptly knocked the Faders out of contention for good. Ha ha ha! I laughed my arse off for weeks, and harassed every Raiders fan I knew by throwing Al Davis quotes at them, when he was giving Marcus Allen the “Lane Kiffin treatment” in the media. I’d remind them that even Al Davis thought Marcus Allen was “overrated and slow.” Oh yeah, that got a rise outta the LA Raiders fans – you know, the guys who didn’t dress up like a bunch of Juggalo-wannabes (Google “Juggalo” and tell me that isn’t the perfect image of the average makeup-wearing Oakland fan). Zombie Al ran the Faders into the ground before he even left Los Angeles, that lawsuit was just one more example of him diving head-first into full-blown Alzheimer’s while his staff stood around helpless. Ha ha ha!! The awesome sight of that greasy, low-life, cheating, skanky, leather-jacket-wearing SOB slowly destroying his own team and his own fans, that was a thing of sheer beauty… for about the first 10 years. It’s gotten a little old these last 15, though. A quarter-decade of complete futility and irrelevance makes the hatred dull, let me tell ya.

So please Goodell, please take the team away from Zombie Al and send it back to Los Angeles. The fans in LA were real fans who supported the Raiders. I know, I lived there and went to the Seahawk games at the Colliseum back in 83/84. I was a kid in a Largent jersey and never once did someone harass me, even though they talked plenty of smack. It was impossible to get tickets back then, too, we’d have to pay top dollar. The Raiders only stopped selling tickets in LA when Davis went schizoid and his team went down the toilet. Why would anyone pay to see that? Please NFL!! Please send the Raiders back to LA where they might have a competent owner and GM, so I can once again HATE them. It’s been years. I want to hate the Raiders, but I can’t. It’s like hating your crazy old grandmother. Sure, she puts make-up on her dog and offers you milk that has been expired for 6 months, but that doesn’t make her hateful. Gets to a point where it’s not even funny anymore. And you start wondering when someone’s going to shuffle her off to the “care home”. Goodell, you need to shuffle Davis off to the care home and send the Raiders back to LA.

In the meantime, thanks Al Davis for sending us Cable, Gallery and Miller. The Seahawks are on the rise and those guys are going to help us. Just Win, Baby!!

    Ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!

You Raider fans are so delusional. Yo say how it doesn’t matter who you lost because you’ll sign him, him, and him. But there are two problems with that method of thinking:

    1. You’re $17 million over the cap now with very little real talent on your roster.
    and
    2. NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY FOR THE CRYPT KEEPER AND HIS PATHETIC TEAM IN THAT CRAPPY STADIUM IN TRASHY OAKLAND.
