Let's see...
Denver needed to improve on defense and special teams in the off-season and enable the offense to shift from a throw first, run never offense to a more balanced, run first offense... so...
1. We draft one of the three best defensive players in the draft, along with a high-ceiling safety duo, a promising MLB, an underrated DE, secure team leadership in Dawkins and Bailey, bring a healthy Dumervil back in, and pull in two DTs who may not have high recognition but improve the line, as well as a smattering of depth on the D-line. (Defense improved)
2. Draft TEs and safeties that may specifically work on special teams this year, as well as a new FA returner. (Special teams improved)
3. Bring in McGahee to compliment a physically more stout Moreno (The combo should be called M&Ms, because they're sweet) and then bring in an UDFA to add depth and a pair of FA TEs that improve the line, not to mention a mauler at RT, all without damaging the ranks of the passing game (running game improved)

So, I'm not seeing how EFX hasn't done their job this off season. Meanwhile, KC improved slightly (will probably win the division again this year) and San Diego and Oakland have got worse... umm... I'm not too sad.

Here is the problem with "sports journalism"

The headline is definitive "Broncos done with major player moves, including at quarterback"

The first line says the opposite: Denver likely wrapped up their big free agent acquisitions on Tuesday night when they signed Ty Warren.

They are done or is it "likely"?

Yeah…sure they are. They have 3 QB’s getting paid like first rounders and none of them are worthy.. Bad business!!"

So Orton isn't better than at half the starters in the league? He's clearly proven he's a starting qb, and had some good success. While he's not at the level of a Brady, Brees, or Rodgers, he is certainly good enough to start and win games.

"Orton does not have the fire that you want in a QB. He seems to relaxed when it comes to crunch time. Tebow does not have the mechanics but has that fire. With that said, and with science not advanced enough to get the best out of the both of them and combine it into one, I was hoping for Ortoan trade, Tebow getting his shot to see what he has or doesn’t. If he couldn’t produce, Andrew Luck would be well within our grasp.

GO BRONCOS!!!"

----------

That's what you base it on? Fire?

I don't want an emotional guy at that position. I want a player who keeps their cool. Fire is good when its a physical position, but not one, at least IMO, where much of it is mental as it is physical.

If Fox wants to be competitive, he needs to hold onto Orton until they're either overwhelmed with an offer, ie 1st rd pick, or Tebow clearly shows he can consistently throw the ball like a starting NFL qb. No one doubts the guys heart, but this isn't college anymore. You aren't going to run over linebackers, because you're bigger, stronger, and faster than them, and you're team is stacked that much more. Everything is flipped in the NFL.

305fan, you get it. These dolphin fans screaming for Orton are desperate and just down right ignorant. What the hell has Orton done his whole career? Nothing. Henne? Nothing, but he’s only started for 1.5 years with a horrible OC. Lets give this guy a chance with the new system before we trade our future for neckbeard.

As far as Denver, I can’t believe they were actually willing to let Tebow start! I’m sure they miss Cutler right about now."

-----------

Orton's been pretty good, especially in Denver. Although I agree with you in that they should give Henne some more time. They're primarily a running team anyways, and teams like that usually means one of two things:
1. They qb isn't good enough to win games by himself,
and
2. They're looking for a guy to manage the game for them, while they run the ball.

The backup qb is usually the most popular player on the team, unless your qb is Brees, Rodgers, Brady, etc.

_______________________

It's because Tebow was picked up WAY too high in the draft. Even Colt McCoy was projected to go above him. So the Broncos fans see him as their savior as sorts. Tebow did very well in college but a lot of people forget that college football and the NFL are very different. Sometimes you see the best college player fail big in the NFL and sometimes you see a lot of nobodies turn out to be some of the biggest stars. Orton is a better QB all around. The reason he was sat was because as a first time starter he actually did really well, he just hasn't had time to develop his reaction to big pressure and that is why after playing so well the entire season, he began to do badly the last couple games.

No matter what though, Orton's talent is worth it's weight as a starter in the NFL. Tebow on the other hand hasn't had the same pressure especially as a starter (can you say Kevin Kob, 400 yards passing his first game as a back-up now look at him) Tebow may prove me wrong but I still think he is a RB/FB that has the ability to make a throw here or there.

I am a big Tebow fan and I can even admit that Orton gives the Broncos a better shot to win this year. I do believe Tebow has a bright future in the NFL and will be a starting qb. Sitting behind Orton for another year or even 2 is only going to benefit him in the long term. Tebow has already shown he can make the big play in the 4th quarter but he needs to improve on what he does in the first 3. He can't do that by being thrown out into live action. He is still raw and still needs practice to improve his passing game. Only time will tell if he improves it enough to be a starting qb in the league but there is no doubt he is going to bust his tail to try and accomplish that.

I think Bronco's fans hate Orton because he's not Elway. Given the team last year, with a beat up line, non-existant running game, basically unknown receivers, poor defense, coaching changes, etc. Orton had an amazing year. This season I hope they will be more competent on D. With a new offensive system, Thomas still nursing a sore foot, losing a starting o-lineman, the offense will struggle. Everyone else in their division has much more momentum, so the Bronco's will finish last again. They might split with the Raiders, but who wouldn't pick the Chargers and Chiefs to sweep?

pacash80 says:

"Orton > Tebow

That being said, Denver will still have a losing season. Quote me on that. Let the hate begin."

of course they'll have a losing season, shortened off-season with a new head coach after 4-12 and the worst defense in the league. They're on their way though, they weren't going to attract any major FA's after last year. Another year of rebuilding and hopefully some continuity defensive coordinator will do them well.

It's just a game of hurry up and wait now, with Miller/Doom together for a year and some new blood on D.

Orton is way better then that scrub Tebow but it's hard to showcase your talents when your offensive line gives up 34 sacks and you have no running game. Not to mention the defense didn't help win any games either.

I've been a Denver fan my whole life, granted I'm only twenty I know football, played it throughout my life and am excited Orton will be with us. I was furious when we traded in to get Tebow, and I will not praise him like everyone else until he actually does something. Orton isn't the reason we lost so many games, our defense was awful. Get that situated and have a run game and Orton will put up bigger numbers than he already has.

Great.... Thanks EFX! Orton should have never come to camp....
Would've been nice to get a DT that's actually good in FA.... But instead I see we're vested in mediocrity with Orton.
Perfect!
Very disappointing....
