The “awkward” throwing motion was apparently good enough to accomplish the above feats, playing in the toughest conference in the land, and against the best teams in the country from other regions.

First off, you need to change your handle. Osborne retired in 1997. Penn State went undefeated without getting the national title in 1994. And that happened because Penn State didn’t beat a top 10 team that season, neither during the regular season (the Big 10 was really bad, and PSU played no one OOC) or the bowl game (Oregon was 8-4).

Paterno deserved that NC just as much and maybe even more, evidenced by the players that had long careers in the NFL (Collins, Engram, Brady, Hartings).

Maybe one day this guy will be a great NFL QB, I don’t know how anyway, save nosterdamous, could truley say one way or another.

But I just watched un-edited highlights of QB/WR/RBs from Broncos camp, and anyone who thinks he is ready to start right now is out of their mind. Its not like he had a couple of bad throws, aside from a 5 yard route to a TE I did not see a SINGLE accurate throw. Right now, the guy is all over the place. During one series he was overthrowing receivers by 10 yards, in another he was throwing it straight into the dirt and bouncing it to them. And all of this is in shorts with no one pressuring him.

He has a LONG way to go.

bottom line… Boncos and Elway see something.

The worst mechanics, non-defensive reading, no footwork having, lucky, short, no sex having, running QB to be picked in the first round.

I’ll take Elway’s opinion over Merrill’s on QBs any day.

Totally agree! I can’t believe that how many Pro Bowls Hines has made as a TE while still maintaining his stats and gaining Super Bowl MVP as a WR. Is there anything he can’t do?

If you compare the lists of NFL prospects drafted by the two schools over the last 4 years, as well as the positions those players played there is a massive difference.

We are talking 23 UF players compared to 5 UW players. Two of the UW players were offensive players, thus players that surrounded Locker, as D players do not directly impact a QB’s play. Locker is one and Louis Rankin in ’09 is the other.

Compare this to the 11 offensive players that have been drafted from UF since ’07, including Tebow. While crap may have been a strong word, anyone playing at DI level obviously has some talent, I still submit to you the obvious fact that Locker had much less talent than Tebow did around him.

I am not discussing Cutler, because that was not part of my original point and I will not tangent, other than to say he had at least one, if not two, NFL receivers on his Vandy team (too lazy to confirm the numbers at this point).

As for tactics and gameplans I honestly cannot assess what UW has done or will do. I live in PA, and we get very few West Coast games so my knowledge of that program is admittedly limited.

But I can say with all certainty that Locker did not have two NFL top 20 draft picks on his O-Line at any point in his career.

The key to leading is bringing out the best in others. If he can, then he’ll be good. If not….

You used to have Cutler, Hillis, B Marsh, Royal and Scheffler. A top 5 NFL offense the McDummy ruined. All he had to do was revamp the defense when he came but the arrogant little weasel insisted on installing his own system and shipped all the best offensive players out of town. Top five. It was the number two offense in the league with a bunch of kids. Eight of the eleven starters were 25 years old or younger. And that ass ruined it all. With the help of the old man owner. Clady was a rookie. If that offense had been allowed to jell they would have been unstoppable.
