Reese and his assistants completely screwed up the cap situation two years ago, and hacks like Canty and Eli won't restructure. The Giants can give Osi a huge bonus (two-tiered) and backload his contract to still remain under the cap, but you best believe 3-4 years into THAT deal, he will just be cut, no more whining.

This just in... The Raiders... who were 17 million over the cap yesterday signed Kevin Boss. Hmmm... maybe the old guy isn't dumb. Is it possible that he waited to restructure deals on the last day so the players that restructured could continue to practice. NAH!!!!! He's not smart enough to do that (sarcasm)! Al makes some awful moves sometimes but he always.. always... always is trying to bring talent to the field. He is never 46 million under the cap.

@plundergrunge, I'm a Cowboys fan too, but if you can honestly call the NFL - one of the most profitable, thoroughly-steeped-in-pure-avarice, money-printing enterprises in existence - *Marxist*, then you have no idea what you're talking about.

The government and legal system already bend over backwards to allow and preserve the kind of absurd monopoly the NFL has. Revenue sharing is one of the things that allows the NFL to do the other 95% of the things it does which make billionaires out of everyone in charge of NFL teams, and multi-millionaires out of just about everyone who plays the game.

And this is what contemporary Americans call "Marxist". No wonder the rest of the world thinks we're dumb.

The Bengals, Bills, Browns, Jaguars, etc. borrow money from teams like the Cowboys through revenue sharing.

It won't happen (because it's ridiculous) but a 'cap sharing' system would be fair.

Jerry, give your money to the rest of the kids that don't have money. Good boy. Now, we were thinking...we were thinking you have too much stuff. We're going to have to penalize you for having too much. But keep giving to the poor kids.

Marxists.

Stop all the Al Davis bashing......It isnt your money! Any team under the cap should be ashamed. Here's why:

If you spend up to the cap and collect your TV check your going to make about 20 mil annually.

Anything less is just more gravy into the owners pocket.

All of these teams spending under the CAP arent giving it to the players, arent cutting ticket prices, arent improving employee benefits.......as a matter of fact they are laying people off, raising ticket prices, firing longtime employees( that's you chief fan), and crying poor while pulling in 40-80 million a year pure profit.

So yeah Al is a bad guy for spending to the limit trying to compete.........while still living quite comfortably at 20 mil at year.

at this list, the really sad ones are Browns & Bengals & Raiders. Browns & Bengals because they have the money and refuse to spend it (Bucs, Chiefs & Jags are excused) and Raiders because they overspent and got nothing got nothing to show for it.

Great list.

Still would rather my owner overspent trying to obtain/retain talent then not spend at all. Just my .02

Stop worrying about the Silver and Black. I have a feeling that the cap numbers have not been updated. Yeah, they have had some flops in the first rounds recently, Ja(Mucas), Dropius Wayward-Bey and to a lesser extent Gallery. But their draft history isn't any worse than the next team. They also drafted LT Valdeer, (Safety)Nnamdi, (CB) Woodson, (TE) Miller, (DL) Shaughnessy, (LB) McClain..... the list goes on. All of you people piling on the Raiders will find out soon enough finding a franchise QB is difficult. Teams that lost franchise QB have gone in the toilet. Raiders (Gannon), 49ers (Montana-Young) Woncos (Elway). Let me remind the Patriot fans that you were a joke until Brady, Colts Joke before Manning, Steelers pedestrian between Bradshaw and Ben, Saints paper sacks before Brees, Falcons crap before Vick and Ryan.

Brady, Brees and Manning aren't going to play forever.

For all you haters out there: If you don't know why the Raiders are in the red then just shut up already and forget about it.

It's been explained why by people on this site a million frickin' times - if you're too stupid to get it, then don't worry about it.

They are over the cap year after year after year and always come under when necessary...it's called restructuring, and every damn team in the league has to do it at one point or another.

Enough already with your hate...because deep down you only wished you were part of Raider Nation.

Man alive. Those orange winking fairy pirate Buccaneers are some cheap mofo’s. They’re too busy setting the record for who can go 2-14 the most times.

The Bucs are saving $ to re-sign all the young players who's contracts are up next season.

All those things you say are irrelevant. The bottom line is, they are too damn cheap. If they can do as well as they did last year by clinching their cheeks, imagine how well they would if they just got 1 or 2 stud free agent players.

Your team isn’t doing anything with its current roster. Like it or not, you are clearly the 3rd best team in your division. What are the chances that both Wild Card winners come from the same division? It RARELY happens.

The bottom line is, they don’t want to spend money. Your team isn’t dedicated to winning, they are dedicated to making money.

The fans will keep spending, and your team will keep taking it.

-------------------

Winning records are irrelevant and spending cash is the important thing?

As for the 3rd best team in the division, I guess we can throw that oon the pile of preseason predictions that mean nothing when the games start, I mean what was the talk last year?
Oh yeah... "The Bucs are cheap and haven't done a thing to improve from from 3-13, they won't win 6 games in 3 years."
A 10-6 record later and that gets "forgotten" and it's still spending cash that matters rather than having a plan.

The Colts and Packers are in the bottom half of the league in terms of cap room used, they better get spending to if they ever want any success, nothing but 4-12 records for them unless they spend every dime they can overpaying FAs and getting in cap hell if they ever want to be like perennial winners Detroit, Dallas, Oakland.

The Bucs are a young team and most players are on their first contracts so they will be cheap, I guess we should just go all "Madden" during the offseason and spend money for the sake of spending it, bring in overpaid chumps who because of their salary get starting gigs and thus stunt the growth of the young guy while having the added bonus of wrecking the cap situation going forward, hopefully those old guy take up enough room that we can't dump a franchise QB contract infront of Freeman.

I believe Mike Vick's, 1-year, $16 million Franchise Player salary counts fully against the cap. The Eagles will soon re-sign him to a space-creating multi-year deal so expect that $4 million number to increase.

Not sure how that would work, but it's not a bad idea. Of course you might end up with the Pittsburgh Pirates there. Teams sandbagging to sell Jones cap space while they are buying a South Pacific Island with the proceeds

Seriously, do you even think before posting that stuff?
Record for going 2-14???
You are aware that those “cheap mofos” were cheap mofos last year too when they went 10-6, far better than those free spending Cap Champions like the Redskins & Cowboys.
3 of the last 4 seasons have been winning seasons for those “2-14 cheap mofos”
4 of the last 6.
