Well, we know partly why the Eagles were so aggressive in beefing up their defensive line over the last week.

2007 second-round pick Victor Abiamiri will miss the season with a ruptured Achilles tendon, according to multiple reports in Philadelphia. Abiamiri has only started seven games in his career and hasn’t played since 2009 after having microfracture surgery on his knee last year.

There is speculation that his football career could be over.

Meanwhile, defensive end Ricky Sapp left the team a few days ago “of his own volition” according to Geoff Mosher of the News Journal of Wilmington. Sapp was placed on the Reserved/Left Squad list.

Apparently Sapp pulled the same routine last year, but returned before getting hurt and being placed on injured reserve. The 2010 fifth-round pick could wind up losing his job this time around.
