I too was wondering as they spent a good ten minutes discussing this guy’s medical status and whatnot. The Eagle’s trainer was up there having a press conference about it. Seemed like the trainer was being a bit of a blowhard for the media.

Reason it took 15 minutes for him to LEAVE and not for the ambulance to get their is bc he was seizuring for 4 minutes then they stablized him and put him in a body brace before loading him in the ambulance.

First of all, you have sources, right? How hard would it be to find out whether or not Burkholder was authorized.

You can basically make any accusation by placing a question mark at the end of it, or by prefacing the opposite with the phrase “we hope that…”.

Secondly, if you were so concerned about Patterson’s privacy, you wouldn’t have given his condition even wider play by publishing it yourself. You would have taken the high road instead, and decided not to touch the story.

Fine, severe injuries happen at NFL practices. But what about life treatening injuries where time is a factor. You are going to have more of those at car crashes and fires then at a football practice. Those are not more likily at an NFL practice.

I for one cant believe so many people think an ambulance is going to be at their home within 15 minutes. Then at the same time do not see that having an ambulance at every NFL practice is going to make the response time longer for everyone else.

Do more life threatening injuries happen at construction sites or football practices? Do we want an ambulace at every construction site?

The celebrity or athelete does not deserve more care then the average Joe. But it is also true though that they do not deserve less care.

The “why wasn’t the ambulance there” is a knee jerk reaction. Lok at the full picture of the event and extrapolate what you want out. This event was due to a brain defect. Its not even football related. How many people had convulsions that day and were not on a practice field? Should they have had an ambulance waiting too?

Our State transportation dept used to require us to have a trained first aid person until OSHA changed the law. 15 minutes in a rural location is pretty standard.

The Eagles have been using that training facility for pre season for a while now. On top of having the normal training/medical staff on site they also have an ER Dr. present at the all practices. The problem is not the Eagles did or did not have the option of having an ambulance present it is a rural area that the college is at where they train.

My guess is that there are at least 3 to 4 thousand practices a year league wide, and a true medical emergency probably only arrises only once every few years. Additionally, teams have trained medical personnel (trainers) at every practice.

Having an ambulance at every game makes sense. Having one at every practice would be impractical, and a waste of valuable resourses.
