Great post!!! My brother followed my lead with the Steelers and has been as rabid as I am for 34 years. But he has also been a huge Lakers fan since his hero Kareem Abdul-Jabar was playing. And we were born into the Crimson Tide. When anyone teases him about bandwagoning, he just says he appreciates excellence. I’m a one-sport woman, but he is also a Mets fan. That should end any suggestion that he only follows winners

I beg to differ, since most of the Steelers fans I come across have never even been to Pittsburgh, they just jumped on the bandwagon, lol…. They have their Steelers sticker in the back window, right next to their Yankees sticker, which is right next to their Lakers sticker…. Hell, I work with a guy, and his 2 favorite teams are the Steelers, and the Phillies. How the hell did that happen????

As a Steeler fan for 29 years since I was 8 years old and a Laker fan for 24 years since I was 13, what Bandwagon did I jump on? The Steelers team was mediocre in the early 80s and my first Steelers jersey was of Louis Lipps. Oh yeah, what a bandwagon that was. Became a Laker fan because Magic Johnson was the greatest player in the world. Took the Lakers 11 years to win a championship after that. Do not be jealous that there are people out there that are actually fans of teams that happen to be good and win a championship now and then. BTW..the Yankees suck.

Like every NFL fan I spend a lot of my time and money and passion on MY Steelers. Indirectly, we pay their salaries. For 40 years I have lived and breathed the black & gold. All of us have the right to claim posession of our favorite teams. Without us, there would be no NFL.
