Derrick Mason is headed to the New York Jets, a decision that will disappoint two other AFC squads.

“Jet fuel is full time to fly!!!!!” Mason wrote on Twitter, announcing the move.

The 37-year-old veteran had other options. Tennessee gave him a chance to play for his hometown team in Nashville. The Ravens offered familiarity.

Instead, Mason will head to New York, where he’ll presumably play the slot between Santonio Holmes and Plaxico Burress. Mason is old in the tooth, but we though it was crucial to close this deal considering the Jets really have no clue how Burress will fare.

It would be fitting if the Ravens replaced Mason with deposed Jet Jerricho Cotchery.
