Giants tight end Ben Patrick retires

Ben Patrick, Tyler Sash AP

The Giants lost last year’s starting tight end to the Raiders this week.

On Saturday night, they lost another tight end to retirement. The team announced Saturday night that recent free agent pickup Ben Patrick decided he no longer wants to play football.  He was placed on the reserve/retired list.

Patrick was signed last week. He wasn’t expected to be a huge contributor, but he was very likely to make the team at a thin position.  The Giants will have to go back to the drawing board.

Yeah, it was a rough night for the Giants.

Maybe you need John Carlson? We’ll take Osi and a 2nd for him.
    :P

Godspeed to Patrick. Interested in hearing why he suddenly called it a career.

Also, GMen are winning the NFC East crown…not the Eagles. Book it.

    GO VIKES

Redskins are loaded with TE’s. Maybe an interdivisional trade makes sense?

  9. sdchicken says: Aug 7, 2011 2:14 AM

Is it me or are the usually organized Giants kind of a mess? I don’t think they have any tight ends, they released most of their O-line, Osi is crying and creating trouble…strange.

YOU MEAN GIVE, not take. I love the sarcasm attempt, though.

    Weird.

Trade Osi for a ham sandwich and a guy off the street who thinks he can play TE.

  13. eaglesfootballfan says: Aug 7, 2011 7:28 AM

Giants are very thin at the TE Position.

In other news, Kevin Boss signs a 4 year deal with the Raiders.

Ahahaha this team is falling apart! Good luck with that joke of s quarterback, and terrible wide receiving core. And for the girl who said the Gints will win the NFC East, keep telling yourself that…

Giants win nfc east?! Hahaha! Yea right! THEY WON’T WIN A GAME! Jets 4 life!

  17. paj6471 says: Aug 7, 2011 10:02 AM

what are the Gaints thinking when they let Boss go? they didn’t go after Heap… just the norm for the Gmen…. stupid….stupid.

The GMen may be thin at TE but they have one real good player at the position in former Badger Travis Beckum. Hes got big time playmaking ability but his rookie season was underwhelming.

Should see vast improvement in him this season eapecially if hes the opening day starter.

The Packers have a whole bunch of quality TEs if they need some depth, just give Ted Thompson a call.
