Moss talk surfaces in Arizona

randy-moss

Randy Moss is retired. And yet no one really believes it.

Appearing on 620 KTAR’s Burns and Gambo Friday afternoon, former Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner made the case for adding Moss to the mix at receiver.

“I don’t think there’s any question he could help,” Warner said. “I still think there’s something in the tank for Randy. . . . He has a great relationship with Larry Fitzgerald. That could be a huge plus coming to this organization.

“I think a deep threat is something that they need. They need somebody that can stretch the field. As good as Larry is, that’s not the player that he is.”

Cardinals players had been pushing for Braylon Edwards, who ended up taking a one-year, $1 million base contract in San Francisco, with an inferior quarterback.

Per a league source, the Cardinals definitely want a deep threat. The problem is that there aren’t many guys out there who can provide that straight-line speed not named Randy Moss or, if healthy, Terrell Owens.

Whether they’d make a run at Moss remains to be seen. Whether Moss would be interested is the bigger question.

We doubt that he would be. But money talks, the Cards have the cap room to pay him, and the presence of Fitzgerald can’t hurt.
