Report: Cortland Finnegan walks out of Titans camp

The Titans already have one player who is holding out, another player apparently is joining him.

Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports reports that cornerback Cortland Finnegan walked out of camp last night, reportedly in a dispute over his contract.

Finnegan is entering the final season of a four-year extension he signed in 2008.

The Titans could put pressure on Finnegan by issuing a so-called “five day letter.”  If, five days after the letter is received, Finnegan doesn’t show up, the team could put him on ice without pay for the full season.

The Titans seem to have their fair share of problem players, enough so to have a great headcoach leave. I’ll put the blame on to the owner / GM.

    Send Andre Johnson after him!!!

He is a clown, so maybe if he does get “put on ice” he can take Ronalds place at McDonalds.

    Boo hoo

  8. bluefan204 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:03 AM

Call Andre Johnson. He’ll slap the taste out of Finnegans mouth, and he’ll be back in camp by this afternoon.

We should all be so lucky.

  14. cardsfann1 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:13 AM

Andre Johnson must have walked in the middle of camp!!!!

  15. xmgmx says: Aug 6, 2011 11:17 AM

Having him out of the NFL only makes it that much better…. too bad it won’t happen.

  16. whatwouldlombardido says: Aug 6, 2011 11:20 AM

Finnegan’s a punk on a team of punks. Five day letter? Can Finnegan count to five? Tell him it’s the same number as the marks left by Andre Johnson’s fist.

This guy is turning out to be a real DB and I don’t mean Defensive Back

  18. bucks12965 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:22 AM

Oh no! What are they going to do now!?

  19. bucwild05 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:23 AM

I don’t blame him. Titans are a bunch of Morons to not pay their best players the money. C.J. Is their best player, and Finnegan is their best player on Defense. The had let Babin go, who was their top Sack leader on defense. The Titans strive for average.

  20. zaggs says: Aug 6, 2011 11:24 AM

We could always send Andre Johnson out there to beat him back in line.

  23. CKL says: Aug 6, 2011 11:27 AM

Let me guess…the rest of the story is that someone showed up to their TC dressed like Andre Johnson so he ran away???

  24. lemmam says: Aug 6, 2011 11:27 AM

finnegan is just holding out so he doesn’t have to go up against Houston Texans WR Andre Johnson!

  25. coleman121280 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:29 AM

I’d walk out too if i was that talented and could do it.

  26. raqaiw says: Aug 6, 2011 11:30 AM

Insert “Andre Johnson can get him back” joke here

  27. promin1 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:31 AM

These players make me sick. Finnegan, Osi are typical me first greedy d -bags who are ruining the sport. Osi forgets that when he signed his contract he was one of the highest paid DEs in the league and that it paid him a ton of money in the first 3 years of the contract. So because the contract was front loaded and now is beneficial to the team he is pissed off and thinks he is underpaid. Now Finnegan walks out. If you signed the contract in the first place, you must have been happy with it, so play it out. You can’t change the terms just because someone else gets a better contract 3 years from now.

  28. tjacks7 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:35 AM

I think it’s safe to say the Titans have the lowest total team IQ score in the league.

And that’s saying something, considering it shot up when Vince Young was released.

  29. raven4life21 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:39 AM

Finnegan Maginnegan u silly boy! Trix are for kids!

  30. boondocksaint224 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:40 AM

Finnegan is a great corner, but he needs to pull his head out of his ass and drop the dog**** attitude. He isn’t doing himself any favors with the fans, the Titans, or any other team who might have interest in him in the future.

  31. sc5000 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:40 AM

Maybe he doesn’t want to get his cranium pummeled by Andre Johnson again… Your not good enough to make demands, what a puke stain…

  32. ninjapleazee says: Aug 6, 2011 11:42 AM

did Andre Johnson sign with the Titans?

  33. jtylert says: Aug 6, 2011 11:43 AM

Can’t think of a downside to him leaving.

  34. blchaney69 says: Aug 6, 2011 11:43 AM

There isnt a Bigger Scumbag in the League!! Apparently Andre Johnson didnt hit him hard enough to knock some sense into him!!

  35. thetooloftools says: Aug 6, 2011 11:44 AM

    I would ICE him.

  36. sdboltaction says: Aug 6, 2011 11:49 AM

Sign him or ice him. Figure it out, TN! The time for dickin’ around is over! It’s football season, baby!

  37. blackfootkiller says: Aug 6, 2011 11:50 AM

This can’t be right…He always seemed so level headed. Always thinking long and hard before he spoke, or put his thoughts into action.
Nah, you guys must be wrong…Cortland would never stomp off and pout if he wasn’t getting what he wanted.

  38. yadaddy1 says: Aug 6, 2011 12:01 PM

Cortland if u dnt report back 2 camp I will have Andre Johnson find u and. Give u Another BEAT Down!!

  39. oscarbluth says: Aug 6, 2011 12:10 PM

bucwild05 clearly doesn’t know anything about the Titans other than the headlines he apparently skims. Contrary to popular belief, the Titans do pay their best players. But they are also very good at knowing when to let go of talent that is demanding too much. How did Haynesworth work out when he left town? Kearse? I could go on and on.

Babin is a career scrub that flourished under Jim Washburn (arguably the best DL coach in the league). Washburn is now in Philly… where coincidentally Babin also signed.

CJ is no doubt demanding a ridiculous amount of money, even for someone with his talent. It will get worked out.

As for Cortland, he’s overrated and has really gone downhill the past couple seasons. I’m tired of watching him getting burned every other play anyway so I say let him sit as long as he wants.

  40. suckleague says: Aug 6, 2011 12:15 PM

Look he’s not one to just throw a fit when he doesn’t get his way. Wait..

  41. staugjag says: Aug 6, 2011 12:26 PM

  44. mr4thand1 says: Aug 6, 2011 12:34 PM

Maybe because Babin sans Washburn is the Jason Babin from every year prior to last and drafted Derrick Morgan last year?

  48. 3yrsnfl says: Aug 6, 2011 1:02 PM

I believe most of the players in the league know how fortunate they are to have a great job. There are never any articles written about guys who show up to work everyday, work hard, and do what they’re told by their boss. I hate the guys I have to work with that are cry-babies and trouble makers.

  49. Sandra Lee's Cans says: Aug 6, 2011 1:08 PM

It isn’t about the money. He wants specific language in his contract that guarantees no videos will be on Youtube when he gets his ass kicked.

  50. wizahdry says: Aug 6, 2011 1:10 PM

I wouldn’t give him a new contract until he proves he can beat down a WR.

  51. steeelfann says: Aug 6, 2011 1:16 PM

  52. surly1n1nd1anapol1s says: Aug 6, 2011 1:30 PM

  53. 4512dawg4512 says: Aug 6, 2011 1:33 PM

As much as we like to joke about the Andre Johnson-Finnegan thing, let’s be serious for a second. Andre did beat the sh*t out of him! hahaha

  57. drbandkgb says: Aug 6, 2011 3:03 PM

As a Titans fan Im at a loss..

This guy had 1 good season.. other than that he has been beat many times… I wouldnt pay him more than a million a year.. The Titans need to clean house of some of these idiots.. I know Cortland is looking to get paid.. Dont blame him there but some one is filling his head with this your a shut down corner BS.. At best he is a #2

  58. vikingsinla says: Aug 6, 2011 3:18 PM

Can’t wait to watch this loser get cut and try to make a CFL roster. Maybe he can avoid getting destroyed by one of their WRs in a fight.

  59. thelaviking says: Aug 6, 2011 3:19 PM

This dude is a punk anyway. His attitude doesn’t correlate with his skill set. He talks and runs his mouth to pump himself up and over compensate for his lack of confidence!

  60. jaystop says: Aug 6, 2011 3:19 PM

This guy is a punk, plain and simple.

  61. laiddogg93 says: Aug 6, 2011 3:25 PM

Cort. Come on now. You step up as a team leader in the offseason and then 1 week into camp you walk out. Sounds a little immature for a leader doesn’t it. 3.7 mill for this year is not bad. Play like a champ this year and you’ll get a new deal for next season. That’s how the business side of football works. In the NFL, you have to SHOW to get the DOUGH and last season there was not enough SHOW on your part. I still believe you can SHOW this year though cause your a player. GO Titans!!!

Cortland Finnegan and Robin Ventura tie for being the worst fighters in sports and getting the crap beat out of them.
