Well, I'm not an Eagles fan, but I've watched a lot of Matthews over the years in the Pac-10...Anyone who cites his so-called lack of speed and size as reasons he's a bad choice simply haven't seen the kid play. He's always around the ball, and he basically blows up teams' offensive schemes. He absolutely has the intangibles. Solid choice for the Eagles. It's not the name or the bloodlines. This kid's a football player, and though it might not be anyone's preference to start a rookie in the middle, he's a gutsy, instinctual player who'll make a lot of plays.

Who is going to cover Jennings, Driver, Nelson, Jones and Finley? See ya in Indy?? More like see you in Green Bay and then you can go home.

Jennings - Asomugha
Driver - Samuel
Nelson - Rogers-Cromartie
Jones - Hanson
Finley - Pick a linebacker

Then there's still two safeties up top if anyone needs help. The Pack has a lot of playmakers we know, but let's face it, they made it last year largely without a solid running game. The Eagles' defense is set to dominate the pass.

Eagles fans. LOL. Every year, same story. Acting like their teams are invincible.

Im laughin at the idiots who think they’re gonna put up 50+ pts every game. Maclin and Jackson, one trick ponies, press them at the line, their 170 pound bodies ain’t goin nowhere. You think defensive coaches are that dumb?

--------------------------

The Redskins coaches sure seemed that dumb on MNF last year, when the Eagles did exactly that.

But thank you for finally admitting that yes, your team's coaches are truly stupid.

Haha!

Considering the Iggs have enough quality DB’s to play in the DIME about 90 percent of the time, does it really matter who the linebackers are?

—————————————————————–

Actually yes, if you plan to defend against the run at all.

-------------------------------------------

And this is where you prove that you're a Cowboys homer who spends more time trolling Eagles posts than thinking about the Eagles style of play.

The Eagles can't build a perfect team -- but they have an offense that can score quickly, and often.

The Eagles are built to play with a lead. Running on a team who's got three touchdowns on you is great and all, until your 60 minutes are up and they walk away with the W. Go on, try to pass to make up the TD difference. The Eagles are daring you.

Oh, one more thing, if/when Michael Vick goes down with an injury, and the team is forced to rely on Vince Young, tell me how awful McNabb is. Vince is a baby, he's too immature to handle the pressure of the NFL, and he'll ultimately fall on his face. Good luck with that.

You're right Daddyblack, the Eagles will probably score 60 points every week, it'll be better than playing Madden! They are a team without flaws, probably the best team ever assembled in the modern era of football!!!!!

My point was that it's far too early to speculate how a team is going to do this season. The Eagles have signed a lot of FA's, but there's no idea how that will translate on the field, however Eagle fans are clamoring that this is the best Eagle team ever, and they are unbeatable. Such talk is ridiculous.

As for McNabb, while I'm not expecting the Vikes to make the playoffs, I think they'll finish at/near .500 ball, and he'll have a solid year. Eagles fans seem to forget that without Donovan McNabb, they wouldn't have had any of the past success they enjoyed.

Bottom line, a real and objective fan can see both sides of the football equation, and sadly there doesn't seem to be one among the fans of the Eagles.

"If Casey is 1/10 the player Clay is...blah blah blah.."

That's exactly what he is. There's a reason TT moved up in the first to get Clay and let Casey go by 4 picks in a row where he could have taken him.

Doesn't have great speed, can't get off blocks, can't hold the point of attack, and can't rush the QB.

He's got the Matthews name and that's it. Remember this is a 4th round rookie starting at MLB for a team with Super Bowl aspirations. Forget his last name and look at the tape, he is no Clay.

He's apparently having an ridiculous training camp, and is steadily improving in what was admittingly his greatest weakness, picking up blitzes.

I'd be foolish to proclaim the Eagles are guaranteed to win the Super Bowl, but the odds are pretty god damn close. 8/1 odds in fact.

6’1″, 231, 4.78 40, only 13 bench press reps. Meh. Small, slow and weak. Cowboys kicker David Buehler had better measurables (4.57 40, 25 reps).
===================================

Ever heard of Mike Mamula? Those numbers are just part of the overall evaluation.

===================================

Sure the kicker has better numbers, but considering the kid Casey was injured in the LAST game of the year for Oregon, the Eagles were able to overlook the combine and go off his body of work as a player. Anyone who thinks Casey is going to just allow teams to run over him are crazy. If you think Reid would seriously allow his dreams of winning it all rest on the shoulders of a kid who can't possibly handle the pressure, you must be crazy. IF he is that bad, we'll have a new MLB before week 1, rest assured.

It makes no difference whos playing linebacker for this team…. their offense is going to put up a ridiculous amount of points game in and game out…. they will lock down on the outside and dare teams to run the ball. Other teams will not be able to stay with mike vick and the rest of the eagles offense by running the ball….. see ya in indy
===============================

I’m sure the Packers will take that dare and run it down their throats with Starks/Grant/Green. Plus their D has already proved they can handle Vick. Sorry but none of these FA moves of the Eagles moves them past the Pack.

================================

CAN'T WAIT!!!!!!!! Won't see em during the season, so hope they can hold up and get back to the playoffs. Remember, teams in the NFC in the recent history are doomed to disappoint the following year.

Its the BLOODLINE! Why would anyone sleep on a Matthews and let him drop to the 4th round? Didn't they say Clay was too small in college? I hate the Eagles but this was an absolute steal for them and I guarantee he will be their MLB for the next 10 years at least!

There is no need to worry about other teams running the ball. Other teams will abandon the run when they are down by alot of points after the first quarter.

————————————————-

This is the perfect example of the delusional fan. Jackson is still holding out, Maclin is still recovering from his mystery illness, so I’m not sure the Eagles are going to be blowing out a lot of teams in the 1st quarter. It’s fine to be confident in your team, but don’t let it cloud your judgement causing you to sound like a moron. Of course, you might just simply be morons.

I’m a Titan/Viking fan, and while I am optimistic about the season, I understand the Vikes have same issues on the O/D lines, and the Titans have some issues at LB, RB, and maybe even QB. Even if they didn’t have issues, I wouldn’t spout nonsense about them destroying every team in the NFL. Is the average age of Eagles fans 10-12 years old?

Yea, Jackson is still holding out. Even though he reported to camp today. Even though the reports were out all weekend that he would be in no later than Tuesday so he could get his year toward FA. Of course you aren't saying anything as immature as the Vikings( LMBAO @ McNabb being your QB) and Titans will blow teams out. Look what both teams were last year and how much each team has regressed going into this season. Go back to sleep. Nothing to see here.
