Rex Ryan wasn’t thrilled with Shaun Ellis’ move to New England, but it’s not hard to see why Ellis left.

The Patriots will reportedly pay Ellis between $4-5 million in 2011, depending on contract incentives, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News.

The money shows how that Ellis is slated to play a big role next to Albert Haynesworth and Vince Wilfork. The Patriots announced the Ellis move on Monday, in addition to adding Andre Carter.

New England was interested in Matt Roth, but Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reports Roth upped his asking price after they started talking deal, which angered the team. Roth remains unsigned.
