Really, well except for the INTEGRITY of the game. If you can’t afford to get caught, don’t cheat. People have to realize there was no cheating going on. Players had as much reason to think the Starcaps were okay as any other over the counter product that doesn’t list any banned substances. They simply were the victims of bad luck. Hell Deuce had the stuff tested independently (by apparently a crappy lab) and they came back fine.

The way the rule was, they technically broke it. But you have to remember that the rule was against MN state law and required feds to overturn it. Plus the NFL knew about the Starcaps issue after it allegedly let multiple players off scott free for the same banned substance from the same source, and said nothing about it.

The whole deal was a joke. League should have recognized the special circumstances and let it slide that one time. Not like they were roids or high level diueretics.

Players are responsible for what they take but the Saints players asked the league if Starcaps were OK. The banned substance was NOT listed on the label. Deuce even had it tested for banned substances independently.

The players were wrong to take the stuff but the league should have made proper notifications. There were some other issues in the Williams case but the league should bite the bullett and move on.
