With the Eagles pulling another out-of-the-blue signing of a big-name free agent, one of the biggest and best rivalries in the NFL has gotten a little bigger, and better.

As MDS has pointed out, receiver Steve Smith, seemingly taken for granted by the Giants, has joined forces with the self-styled (by backup quarterback Vince Young) “Dream Team.”

And then there’s this. In June, while Eagles running back LeSean McCoy and Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora were going back and forth, Smith jumped in and pointed out that the Eagles have an empty trophy case.

Now, Smith has defected from the franchise with three Lombardi trophies, joining the team that Smith recently has taunted about winning none.
