Tebow says he’s having “fun”

Denver Broncos NFL football second year quarterback Tim Tebow talks to reporters after the team's first practice at training camp in Denver Reuters

In the weeks before the 2010 draft, Tim Tebow developed a habit of describing everything he was experiencing as a “blessing.”  Now, at a time when some may view the early stages of his NFL career as cursed, Tebow has a new buzzword.

Fun.

Arnie Stapleton of the Associated Press reports that Tebow used the word “fun” 11 times during a five-and-one-half minute session with reporters on Wednesday.

“Am I having fun?  I am having fun,” Tebow said. “I enjoy playing this game.”

But Tebow won’t be playing as much as he thought he’d be playing, given the team’s decision to keep Kyle Orton, and to place him atop the depth chart.

“I want to have fun because I’m playing the game I love,” Tebow said.  “But also to compete, try to be able to put some drives in the end zone, because that’s ultimately your goal, and then just execute the offense, right audibles, right ‘hots,’ right sights, right checks and just lead the guys out there and have fun doing it.”

He said he’s not down regarding his demotion, and that he looks forward to showing on Thursday night against the Cowboys that he can make plays from the pocket.  If he ever wants to have the fun that goes along with being the starting quarterback of the Broncos, he’ll need to learn how to stay put.

So let me get this straight. He has that Brett Favre annoying “child like enthusiasm” BS without the talent? I hate him even more than I did 5 minutes ago.

Tebow has fun at church so I wouldn’t trust his definition of ‘fun.’

  3. armoderate says: Aug 10, 2011 10:16 PM

Why don’t you find real news. A first year QB who’s played all of 3 games is having fun. Unless you have an agenda, who gives a F##k.

    Holding a clipboard is fun?

OK, enough about this guy please…just go away already.

“Gee, Timmy has been generating a lot of comments for us, but there is nothing new to report on him. I know! Lets count how many times he says the word ‘fun’ in a press conference!”. Lame.

So he said “fun” 11 times in 5 1/2 minutes? That’s almost the same rate that you write Tebow stories!

  7. weightshakes says: Aug 10, 2011 10:31 PM

You know what else is fun, Tim? Women!

You should try them some time.

  8. pbolyard says: Aug 10, 2011 10:34 PM

If sitting on the bench is fun then I guess Timmy is going to be having fun for a long time.

    PFT getting desperate for news

  10. fillyfan9988 says: Aug 10, 2011 10:41 PM

Why does two “bust-out” quarterbacks rate 10 star attention? C’mon, find some real players to write about.

Wow. The folks that post here are entertaining. As well as the hacks who supply the “articles”. Doesn’t matter what he says or does you will criticize regardless. Hang in there, Tim. These poor bastards hate their lives. Even if the football career doesn’t pan out you will live a MUCH better life than any of them.

    Yup.
Being a bust for $10 million sounds like fun to me too.

Tebow had the fourth best NFL rookie passer rating in his lifetime (at least). I didn’t bother to go back further than 25 years. After Roethlisberger, Cutler, and Ryan. Third best ground game after Young and Vick, despite only starting three games.

    Zoolander, QB.

    BennyD,

Holding a clipboard as an NFL QB is more fun then my job.. I would assume it’s more fun then most peoples job.

People who hate on Tebow are jealous of him obviously.

This really should be the last thing anyone should be saying to/about him. Let him be himself: a scrambling QB who makes plays outside the pocket. You try to force him to be a statue back there and things are going to get real ugly for him.

  19. tfbuckfutter says: Aug 10, 2011 11:06 PM

Seriously….I can’t wait until this guy is caught with a hooker.

    A MALE hooker.

  20. shieldsisland37 says: Aug 10, 2011 11:19 PM

All this whole thing is going to take is Orton to blow a tire and Tebow to lead a gutsy comeback and everyone will be begging for him to start again.

    Reasons to hate Tim Tebow

    1) He cried on national TV while his team mate caressed his head.

    That should do it.

  22. lunchbox92 says: Aug 10, 2011 11:56 PM

For those of you questioning how this article was “news” – it’s not, really. But PFT is entertained that so many of its readers hate Tebow and are enraged at the mention of his name.

For those of you that hate Tim Tebow, here’s a hint: the title’s gonna tell you who the article’s about; you don’t have to read it.

  23. lunchbox92 says: Aug 10, 2011 11:58 PM

    huhfasi,

    Reasons to get a life:

    1) You hate a professional athlete for no reason at all.

    That should do it.

HUHFASI cries as his three boyfriends rub his “head”. Ur an idiot dude(Sally). It’s not your dads fault!

  25. realitypolice says: Aug 11, 2011 12:14 AM

I can’t wait until friday morning, after Tebow goes 6-10 with a rushing TD against the Cowboys 3rd string scrubbinies and all of the Tebow apologists come on here and say it’s proof he should be starting.

Well praise Jeebus! Fun ain’t no sin.

  28. papertiger418 says: Aug 11, 2011 12:42 AM

He’s a saintly boy. Maybe his awkward throwing motion has something to do with stigmata?

Somebody get a trainer and check out this guy’s hands!

  29. mikebrownistheworstownerinprosports says: Aug 11, 2011 1:09 AM

I love how people say “just go away” about Tebow. The guy isn’t writing any articles about himself. He doesn’t force you to click on articles about him either.

  30. bleed4philly says: Aug 11, 2011 1:15 AM

He forgot to mention it’s fun throwing those fade away jump passes at the 1

  31. thermalito says: Aug 11, 2011 2:49 AM

@cosanostra71 So then you agree Tim Tebow is a complete fraud who able to surf his moronic kooky religious beliefs into an NFL career?

  32. michaelmoser01 says: Aug 11, 2011 3:11 AM

I have ‘faith’ that Tebow is going to do great things when it’s his turn and I applaud his patience and genuine passion for the game…the choir boy thing is pretty annoying though. ;). Two words for all the haters…true athlete.

  33. notsosmartski says: Aug 11, 2011 5:31 AM

Hey, if Chris Simms can make it in the league, you can bet Tebow can.

  34. sportsdrenched says: Aug 11, 2011 9:23 AM

How many of you critics would trade places with Tim Tebow? You know, be the back-up QB on an NFL team as opposed to….doing what ever it is you’re doing for a living?

Prespective, some of you should look into it.

  35. philriverslovespenis says: Aug 11, 2011 9:41 AM

Hey PFT, there’s a dead horse in Broncos training camp. Why don’t you go beat it some more. Give it up already, geez.

  36. eazye76 says: Aug 11, 2011 11:41 AM

    @sportsdrenched

Since when does having perspective mean that people can’t criticize someone who makes more money than they do?

  37. dogsweat1 says: Aug 11, 2011 4:13 PM

If the Broncos decide to part with Tim—it could be the best thing.

    See Steve Young’s career….

Same things were said about Young.
