Tebow says he’s having “fun”

In the weeks before the 2010 draft, Tim Tebow developed a habit of describing everything he was experiencing as a “blessing.”  Now, at a time when some may view the early stages of his NFL career as cursed, Tebow has a new buzzword.

Fun.

Arnie Stapleton of the Associated Press reports that Tebow used the word “fun” 11 times during a five-and-one-half minute session with reporters on Wednesday.

“Am I having fun?  I am having fun,” Tebow said. “I enjoy playing this game.”

But Tebow won’t be playing as much as he thought he’d be playing, given the team’s decision to keep Kyle Orton, and to place him atop the depth chart.

“I want to have fun because I’m playing the game I love,” Tebow said.  “But also to compete, try to be able to put some drives in the end zone, because that’s ultimately your goal, and then just execute the offense, right audibles, right ‘hots,’ right sights, right checks and just lead the guys out there and have fun doing it.”

He said he’s not down regarding his demotion, and that he looks forward to showing on Thursday night against the Cowboys that he can make plays from the pocket.  If he ever wants to have the fun that goes along with being the starting quarterback of the Broncos, he’ll need to learn how to stay put.

  1. So let me get this straight. He has that Brett Favre annoying “child like enthusiasm” BS without the talent? I hate him even more than I did 5 minutes ago.

  2. “Gee, Timmy has been generating a lot of comments for us, but there is nothing new to report on him. I know! Lets count how many times he says the word ‘fun’ in a press conference!”. Lame.

So he said “fun” 11 times in 5 1/2 minutes? That’s almost the same rate that you write Tebow stories!

  3. Why does two “bust-out” quarterbacks rate 10 star attention? C’mon, find some real players to write about.

  4. Wow. The folks that post here are entertaining. As well as the hacks who supply the “articles”. Doesn’t matter what he says or does you will criticize regardless. Hang in there, Tim. These poor bastards hate their lives. Even if the football career doesn’t pan out you will live a MUCH better life than any of them.

  5. Tebow had the fourth best NFL rookie passer rating in his lifetime (at least). I didn’t bother to go back further than 25 years. After Roethlisberger, Cutler, and Ryan. Third best ground game after Young and Vick, despite only starting three games.

  6. BennyD,

Holding a clipboard as an NFL QB is more fun then my job.. I would assume it’s more fun then most peoples job.

People who hate on Tebow are jealous of him obviously.

This really should be the last thing anyone should be saying to/about him. Let him be himself: a scrambling QB who makes plays outside the pocket. You try to force him to be a statue back there and things are going to get real ugly for him.

  8. All this whole thing is going to take is Orton to blow a tire and Tebow to lead a gutsy comeback and everyone will be begging for him to start again.

  9. For those of you questioning how this article was “news” – it’s not, really. But PFT is entertained that so many of its readers hate Tebow and are enraged at the mention of his name.

For those of you that hate Tim Tebow, here’s a hint: the title’s gonna tell you who the article’s about; you don’t have to read it.

  10. huhfasi,

    Reasons to get a life:

    1) You hate a professional athlete for no reason at all.

    That should do it.

  11. HUHFASI cries as his three boyfriends rub his “head”. Ur an idiot dude(Sally). It’s not your dads fault!

  12. I can’t wait until friday morning, after Tebow goes 6-10 with a rushing TD against the Cowboys 3rd string scrubbinies and all of the Tebow apologists come on here and say it’s proof he should be starting.

I didn’t know that LeBron James posted on PFT.

  14. He’s a saintly boy. Maybe his awkward throwing motion has something to do with stigmata?

Somebody get a trainer and check out this guy’s hands!

  15. I love how people say “just go away” about Tebow. The guy isn’t writing any articles about himself. He doesn’t force you to click on articles about him either.

  16. I have ‘faith’ that Tebow is going to do great things when it’s his turn and I applaud his patience and genuine passion for the game…the choir boy thing is pretty annoying though. ;). Two words for all the haters…true athlete.

  17. How many of you critics would trade places with Tim Tebow? You know, be the back-up QB on an NFL team as opposed to….doing what ever it is you’re doing for a living?

Prespective, some of you should look into it.

  18. Hey PFT, there’s a dead horse in Broncos training camp. Why don’t you go beat it some more. Give it up already, geez.

  19. @sportsdrenched

Since when does having perspective mean that people can’t criticize someone who makes more money than they do?

  20. If the Broncos decide to part with Tim—it could be the best thing.

    See Steve Young’s career….

Same things were said about Young.
