Maybe Moss saw that Childress and his offensive staff were stubborn pricks that took no feedback from the players, and Moss called him out on it. Steve hutchinson and matt birk are quoted criticizing the offensive coaches for not listening to players suggestions.

Yes, Randy is the type of player who has the need to feel wanted, and wants to make big plays. He no longer fit into New England because they decided they wanted to go back to the style of spreading the ball out to running backs, tight ends, and many wide receivers. Randy felt unwanted and said so, and that cost him a job. Then he went to the Vikings and said he missed the Patriots, and that cost him a job with the Vikings. He went to the Titans and faded away.

Randy is wise to retire; Childress should have done the same; instead, didn’t he get FIRED?

If not for a rookie owner making a major hiring mistake, Chilly and the kick-ass offense could’ve been parked in Green Bay.

I believe that we’ve been thanking you in post after post for the past several years! I think we may have been a little PO’d at the time that he chose to sign with the vikings without even interviewing for the Packers, but once we realized what kind of coach Chilly would turn out to be – no one on the good side of the river was upset anymore.

Red mccombs the owner at that time got rid of randy. To free up some of his money before selling the team. Wilf was mad that they traded him to the raiders.

I don’t agree with the assertion that Childress did what Moss did, but only over a longer period of time. It’s true that Childress mishandles most of the situations listed. However, I will defend him on one of those, and that was the handling of Duante Culpepper.

Culpepper had just come off not only a serious knee injury, but also a six game Jekyl and Hyde season in which he was infrequently good and more often very bad. He was a human turnover machine during his six game tenure during 2005, and the main reason the team started 2-4.

Then he walks in to the Vikings front office in January 2006 and demands a raise to $10 million per year. He was rightly laughed out of the office, and subsequently the organization. Culpepper moved on, but never came close to equaling his performance while in Minnesota, and Childress made the right call getting rid of him.

That, at least, was one thing Childress handled correctly.

Hey Chilly, how about you disrespected the whole thing that was Moss returning to Minnesota. You know, the place where he started his career, where he became a superstar, where he broke ever rookie receiving record (most of them,) where he was the face of the franchise. Childress is a control freak and the whole Moss coming back home situation makes me sick to my stomach. I’m glad Chilly is gone and I wish we had Moss back, even if it would be to have one of the greatest receivers of out time retire with the respect he deserved.

You’re severely overlooking the part where Moss was exorcized from Minnesota for being a total prima donna douche. Sure he has talent but there’s a reason he was kicked off every team he ever joined. He was on three different teams last year and was an idiot on all three.

Oh but he definitely deserved a respectful retirement….

While I will agree that the Vikings would have man handled the Colts, they lost the NFCCG fair and square. It was a close game to be sure but the loss was a culmination of many factors, not the least of which was VERY sloppy ball control…that above all else is just plain bad football, and you don’t win championships playing bad football.

Wrong. Chilly knows the game. The problem is he’s too conservative on offense. The biggest problem is he can be abrasive with players and people in general. His interview was classic Chilly…gruff, soft-spoken but filled with biting criticism.

And the Moss cut didn’t help him. It was the final straw. Too bad, because he really got the franchise going again. They went 6-10 his first season, then 8-8, 10-6, 12-4 and a loss in the NFC championship game. Then we had last year, where BF decided to play when he shouldn’t have.

Chilly’s record wasn’t the problem as you can see…it was a bad season coupled with his enema-needing personality.

If he vomited on the locker room that’s what he did. PFT would be wise to talk to the guys who were there and know the truth.

Chilly was there and he saw a bad character that was bad for the team. He got rid of him.
