Preseason returns tonight

kevin-Kolb- AP

For those of you who haven’t been paying attention, the 2011 NFL preseason opens tonight.  Five games will be played, with the Seahawks and Chargers kicking off at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Thirty minutes earlier, the Pats host the Jags and the Eagles open at home against the Ravens.

Starting at 8:30 p.m., the Broncos face the Cowboys in Dallas.  At 10:00 p.m. ET, the Cardinals and the Raiders square off in Oakland.

We’ll all get our first look at Tarvaris Jackson and Sidney Rice with Seattle, and Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert will get a baptism by fire in Foxboro.  The Dream Team debuts, Tim Tebow tries to stay above the bottom rung of the depth chart for Denver, and Kevin Kolb makes his debut with the Cardinals.

If/when injuries happen or other noteworthy developments occur, we’ll be giving you the updates right here, all night.

    As much as I’d like to be that smug “I Don’t Pay Attention To The PreSeason” Guy.

    I have to say I’m getting more caught up the closer we get to game time.

    Does anyone know…or care…what a Bart Scott voice is like?

    And why do The Cards still wear those white JV helmets?
    Cardinals are red.

    Yep, cause he knows that he’s already baptized by the sports media as the All American QB. No need for him to worry.

    Odd choice for the national broadcast- would’ve thought ESPN would have taken every opportunity to get Tebow airtime.

  16. themanchine says: Aug 11, 2011 4:30 PM

    TurdSandwich:

    The names written on tape on the front of the helmet make me think of JV, not the white helmet itself.

    Don’t worry, they’re gonna fill three hours telling you about their new QB rating system, and how “swell” it is…

    A real quarterback competition goes through preseason games as well and you call plays that play to a quarterbacks stregnths so obviously the Broncos did not have a real comeptition if it was then it would be decided by preseason play Fox and Elway are gonna look like idiots once Teebow plays after the season is already lost because Orton goes like 3-9 again then they may try to play the second offensive line to sabotage him but even then Teebow will shine. If it was a real competition then in the scrimmage Teebow would of had the ones working with him against the number one D but yet Orton had the number one O going against the number 2 D that is a stacked deck people are not idiots and Elway and Fox will lose the fans before the season is over if they have not already I blame Elway he hireed Fox based on Fox agreeing no to give Teebow a chance and Fox sold out because truthfully Teebow is a fox kind of guy a fiery leader like Delholm with a hundred times more talent than Delholm of course.

    @realdraftgm

    It’s TEBOW

    and he is simply not ready to be an NFL starter. Period.

  22. raiderben says: Aug 11, 2011 6:11 PM

    @ Nomadic…Run DMC is going to be the NEO of the NFL this year!

  23. jsalis13 says: Aug 11, 2011 6:33 PM

    @realdraftgm

    Tim Tebow won’t succeed, he just doesn’t have the right skill set for the pro game.

  24. eyefeeler says: Aug 11, 2011 8:52 PM

    Tavaris Jackson and Bevell look like they brought ol’ Kick Ass along with them. It’s going to be a long season with that group.
