Just like in real life, athletes sometimes
jump the gun and harshly judge someone
before they really understand the situation.

I think MJD did, and it was just too awkward
to admit he made an ass of himself. In fact,
I wouldn't be surprised if he really wanted
to take the comment back, but worried about losing face.

So, yes, I think Cutler was unfairly criticized in THAT instance.

Are there 10 other reasons to despise Cutler?
Oh, my YES!!!!

I'm a Bears fan that lives in Denver, and can say with all honesty that he indeed get reemed by the media here. Maybe not as bad as in Chicago, but reporters didn't like it either when he was with the Donkeys.

In addition, I'm a type-1 diabetic as well. It doesn't make you any tougher than the next guy/girl playing sports with the disease, but it certainly means managing it is a tad more difficult.

With that said, he's tougher than nails based on the severity and amount of the hits he's taken.

Guys answer me this question, Did you hammer LaDanian Tomlinson as hard for missing muiltiple playoff games like he did for at least 3 years, as you have Cutler? The question is not should have he have gone back in. But, would LT have gotten the same strong critism as Cutler?(Not sure if LT's injurys were as bad as Cutlers for the record, but he had 3 years of them)!!!

schmitty2 says:

I’m 220lbs. When so many people have a similar view on one person there must be some validity. Is Cutler talented? Sure, he is. Does he make stupid decisions? Absolutely. Is it his fault the front office won’t surround him with better receiving and O-line talent? No. Personality wise..is he a turd? YES!!

--------------------------------------------------------------

most people are like sheep-- they hear one man's opinion about something and base their own off it, regardless of its accuracy. In this case, most people formed their opinion on Cutler after ESPN and several other media outlets bashed him for forcing his way out of Denver. I never heard one criticism of his personality or body language when he was a 25 year old throwing for 4500 yards in Denver. Yet as soon as he landed in Chicago, he received a barrage of negative publicity concerning his perceived personality before he even got a chance to suit up.

For an example of the various ways the media works to spin Cutler's personality to fit their own perception of him, pay attention to how various media outlets (i.e. this website) always try to find the stupidest looking picture they can of him for every article they post (see picture above).

Yes, believe it or not, you let the media heavily influence your perceptions of something you really know nothing about, even though they are literally just as ignorant on the subject as you are. That doesn't make the perception valid. It makes you a sheep.

People question your toughness because…well look at yourself

Or my favorite was your crying for a penalty after Suh rocked you in the BACK…completely legal hit, but evidently the suhnami was too much for you to handle hahaha

------------------------------

actually just watched that clip this morning, Cutler never even calls for a flag. the flag was out before Cutler's head went careening into the turf from a dirty hit. If Stafford would have been hit like that, you'd have been crying for the same flag.

the difference would have been that Stafford wouldn't have gotten up. Cutler popped up like it didn't faze him, and went on to beat the Lions in the 4th quarter.

Kinda funny that the cameras focused on Cutler only when the offense was on the field…just sayin.
Jay, don’t worry about all the haters…they’re just 400 pound bums still bitter over gettin called “fatty fatty two-by four” in grade school, and they’re takin it out on you.
MJD knows now that he was wrong, but he’s too proud to admit it…
Hope your O-line keeps u upright this year!!!

I'm 220lbs. When so many people have a similar view on one person there must be some validity. Is Cutler talented? Sure, he is. Does he make stupid decisions? Absolutely. Is it his fault the front office won't surround him with better receiving and O-line talent? No. Personality wise..is he a turd? YES!!

I am not a Cutler guy at all... but in this conversation... MJD should shut the hell up...

we have a guy in MJD who's never really done anything in his career... he's known for what... pimping himself as a top flight fantasy player??? I've never heard Cutler do that... Cutler was in the NFC title game and some scrub in Jacksonville is running his mouth?? That comes off as really really lame...

Cutler has a resume... MJD plays in a minor league football market, has never done anything in the NFL and now known for acting like a girl talking behind another girl that he is obviously jealous of.

If I were Cutler... I wouldn't even acknowledge this loser... he's beneath him.

It is absolutely astonishing that, in response to an article where Cutler takes the high road and acts like a grown-up (directly after an SI article is published that does nothing but go to bat for how classy an individual he is) regardless of his "body language" and "facial expressions" and regardless of how the world mis-interpreted his injury in the 2010 NFC Championship....JACKASSES HERE AND EVERYWHERE ELSE...will still question his toughness and leadership ability. Look around you jackasses...anyone who knows the guy will tell you how tough he is and how great a teammate he is. Nobody with any credibility has ever questioned it and it's all been based on "body language". Get over it and maybe give credit for once to a guy who cares more about winning than some jackass who wants his face in every commercial and on every billboard. Find it in your brain to understand that Cutler wasn't going to throw a party and become a cheerleader when it was clearly eating at his insides that he couldn't return and help his teammates. But go ahead and continue spin it however it pleases you.

FIRST - I AM NOT A BEARS FAN!! I REPEAT!! I AM NOT A BEARS FAN!!! ......but who the hell is Jones-Drew to say something?!?!? this is the same running back who missed 2 games last year due to injuries, let alone, a running back who has no clue what a playoff game even looks like, and conference championship game would be foreign language to him!!

WORDS OF WISDOM....worry about your team dude, and start packing for your teams relocation!

Lots of talk about Cutler's personality by people who have never spoke to him before... It's cute how people think they know a guy just because they've watched a couple 30 second interviews and press conferences.

I don't pretend like I know Cutler one way or another. All I know is that the Bears were one game away from the Superbowl in only his 2nd season with the team. Yup, that's pretty much all I need to know....
