Man this season is going to be fun. This is delicious watching fans of a totally failed and clueless franchise like the Seahacks come and talk smack because they beat the Saints when their defense was riddled with key injuries during that one game. Never mind the fact that the Seahacks got obliterated a few weeks earlier by the Saints and also got wiped off the field by the feckless incompetent Chicago Bears.

It's also been fun seeing the 49er fans pay a visit. The 49ers will absolutely go no better than 6-10 this year. They have no quarterback and neither do the Seahacks. I like Tarvaris Jackson and I want him to be good but he simply is not. Alex Smith is also an epic failure and the 49ers are simply 3 years in deep denial. I have no clue whatsoever why these two franchises - especially the 49ers - didn't try harder to get good quarterbacks this year. Someone is going to be fired for not grabbing Jake Locker, Blaine Gabbert, or Ryan Mallett.

You can sit here and talk smack all day long about this season. It still doesn’t change what happened.

Your team crowed all week long how they were going to come to Seattle and beat us, and the whole NFL laughed and laughed about how Seattle didn’t belong, and how the Aints would totally demolish us.

And guess what happened? Your Saints got crushed by a team with a first year head coach, a ton of injuries, and a bunch of castoffs and losers that couldn’t even get on the practice squads of other teams.

You all laughed at Carroll for giving Big Mike Williams a shot, and guess what he did to your precious Aints defense? He freaking shredded you. Our second-string TE figured out your defense wouldn’t even cover him if he pretended to be out of the play because the Aints only play half-hearted. And guess what? We got a TD on that play. As with many others.

For all the smack you Aints fans may want to talk, the simple fact is that the last football game you played that counted, you got your butts handed to you by the Seattle Seahawks. That same team you are trying to talk smack about. The Seattle Seahawks suck, eh? Then how do you explain your entire defense getting punked out like girl scouts at a biker convention?

I wish we got to play New Orleans every week. Softest pretenders in the NFC…

----------------------------------------------------

The best thing about this comment? I hardly have to respond. You are making yourself look like a fool and I don't even have to help.

At the end of the day, we both know my team is a contender for the Super Bowl and yours is a contender for the #1 draft pick. So enjoy the season, guy.

Greg Williams is just butt-hurt because his paper tigers got absolutely demolished by the worst playoff team in the history of the NFL a few months ago.

Saints need a new DC. Their defense is terrible. Seahawks were one of the worst offenses in football last season and they made us look like the Patriots.

--------------------------------------------

*sigh* Let's try to explain this one more time for the weak-minded....

You know the difference between a perrenial contender like the Saints and a crap team like the Seahawks?

The Saints, despite having just won a Super Bowl the year before and fielding an elite defense in 2010, didn't rest on their laurels. They could've easily dismissed the Seahawks game as a fluke but they didn't. They went and and drafted a stud DE, signed the best two free-agent DT's on the market, and brought in a slew of fresh faces at linebacker.

The Seahawks, meanwhile, turned their meager success last year and went completely ass-backwards. Tavaris Jackson? LOL. No literally, I am laughing out loud at the complete ineptitude of your franchise. But hey, hang your hat on that playoff win...at least it'll give you something good to think about when you're going 2-14 this year.

Dear Bill49,

you are making a very bad name for 49ers fans with your incessant whining and silliness. Making the playoffs 3 of the last 5 seasons DOES a powerhouse make. On top of that the Saints have made the NFC championship game 2 times in the last 5 seasons. Also, do you know which team has more regular season wins than the Saints over the past two years? None.

I like the 49ers, but they are clearly going to be in the wilderness for a while. Currently, they do not have a quarterback and they are in a rebuilding year. But please feel free to keep whining about "tricks." LOL.

I think you need to be better than one and done to be considered a "perennial powerhouse". Oh, and you need to be able to win on the road when it counts. The Saints have already proven they can't do that. I'm probably spoiled because the team I root for ended up with five championships and two of those included playoff road wins. Saints fans, in your wildest dreams, you'll never get close to that, but dream on.

And, if the Saints defense were so damn talented, they should have been able to stop the Niners straight up, without tricks, just like the Niner defense did to the Saints starting group. Again, the Niners new 3-4 without a starting nose tackle stopped the Saints first team cold. I think it's already over for the Saints, but I understand that it will take time to convince Saints fans.

Are you kidding me??? Gregg Williams was too rough on a QB? And he's angry b/c they didn't offer him a HC job? Please!!

This Saints D is more talented than any we've ever had...ON PAPER. It's up to the individuals to make an impression on their coach so they actually MAKE the team. Williams just put them in a position to do that. You may see some of these guys on your own team soon, so quit complaining and start writing your thank you notes to the Saints org for finding these guys.

BTW if any of you think for a moment GW exposed his entire playbook, stay tuned, you're in for quite a show this season!

"I wouldn’t expect you to understand. You have no clue what it’s like to be jumping and screaming along with 70k other fans so hard that you cause an earthquake. I have. And it was totally effing incredible. "

...Seriously? I'm surprised Louisiana didn't friggin' SINK after Hartley kicked us into the Bowl.

And guys? It's preseason. Gregg didn't HAVE to do anything. He brought the house because that's what he LOVES to do. He wanted to welcome us back to football with a bang, not a whimper.

I was only surprised to see Payton calling plays so conservatively. Brees with only 4 pass attempts in 3 series? Yeah, that's not going to happen in the regular season.

I was only surprised to see Payton calling plays so conservatively. Brees with only 4 pass attempts in 3 series? Yeah, that’s not going to happen in the regular season.

The Niners have a brand new coaching staff, a new system and an entirely new book of plays. One could say the same thing about a half a dozen other teams. It's not so much an excuse as it is a fact. The Saints, on the other hand, already have an established system and are well-known to have been practicing a lot during the lockout. Now seriously, all I'm saying is that in three series, the Saints first string offense couldn't get a first down against a new 3-4 unit without it's starting Nose Tackle and a few other starters. I'm very encouraged with the Niner defense and especially with their first round draft pick who got a sack without the benefit of any blitzing.

On the other side of the ball, I'm just surprised Gregg Williams thought he had to do that to stop such a new offense.

Hilarious! The 49ers have been "installing" a new offense every year since Alex Smith was drafted. When will that stop being an excuse?

By the way, the Saints starting defense only played 3 series...so not only does your starting unit suck, but so does your backups.

You're right, Saints fan. It's a safe bet that the Niners aren't making the big game this year, but if you're not worried about your Saints, you're whistling past the graveyard.

Your well-practiced, cohesive powerhouse offense couldn't get a first down against a brand new 3-4 without its starting NT and a few other starters playing it straight up without any tricks. And, your defense somehow couldn't play a mediocre, two-week old offense without throwing the book at them. Let's just say that if that's any indication of where the Saints stand, they'll also be watching the big game this year.

I only see one person whining right now...look in the mirror. The 49ers are so far from being a legit team that you have to brag about what another team in your own division "accomplished." It's rather sad actually.

P.S. That "craphouse" of an indoor stadium will be hosting yet another Super Bowl next season. One in which the Forty Whiners will be watching...again.

Whining Saints fan: "So…that game wasn’t in Seattle? Just as I suspected, you don’t know much about football."

Let me paraphrase you: whaaaaa, we can't win an important game unless we drown out the other team's calls in our craphouse of an indoor stadium. You want to be a "perennial powerhouse," but you can't win a playoff game on the road against a 7-9 team.

And, 504in860, fine. To some people with limited intelligence, things that happened less than 20 years ago is called "ancient history." Fine. Let's just call it the New England Patriots then. Whatever example you'd like to use, again, a one-and-done that loses a playoff game to a 7-9 team is NOT a "perennial powerhouse." You've got a few years to go of sustained winning before you can legitimately call yourself that.

You know, Saints fans, you've got a beautiful city there - one of my favorites. But, you're definitely not the smartest fans in the world.

One more thing, Saints fans and I'm probably done for the day: if you're excited about a team that has to throw the entire defensive blitzing scheme at a struggling, mediocre team with 10 years of losing seasons behind it and a brand new set of coaches and a new playbook, you need to check yourselves because I think you're going to be very disappointed once the regular season begins and things start to really matter.

I don't think they know exactly what a "perennial powerhouse" is. Let me help. A "perennial powerhouse" would be a team that goes 16 straight years winning 10 or more victories a season, goes to 8 or 9 championship games and is 5-0 in the FIVE Superbowls in which it has played. A "perennial powerhouse" is not a one-and-done phenomenon that loses to a 7-9 playoff team the year after it wins it all. I'm happy that the Saints finally won a championship. I rooted for them in that game. I was happy for New Orleans, one of my favorite cities in the country. But "perennial powerhouse??!!" Come on.

Hey scomibord, it's fair, but what does it say about the Saints? Can't the Saints defense beat a brand new offense with less than two weeks practice under their belts straight up? The Niner defense shut down the Saints first team straight up with no tricks. And, the Saints have been practicing all summer. A defensive team that always blitzes is making a statement. The statement is "we can't stop you straight up."

The brand new Niner defense, without its starting Nose Tackle in a 3-4 and a couple other starters, played the first string Saints offense from a base position with no blitzes and stopped them cold. If I were a Saints fan, that's what I'd be worried about. And, I'd think twice before honking and braying about beating up a QB with 18 blitzes after a couple weeks when new NFL offenses have barely had enough time to install basic formations. I guess you'll take what you can get, but I think long-time Niner fans have higher standards.

mdd913: "These days, the Saints are perennial heavyweights while the Niners are a laughingstock. Some would call that poetic justice, given the crooked, cheating manner in which the Niners sustained their success."

That's a Saints fan for you. One championship and you're a "perennial heavyweight." Pathetic. And whining that the Niners got their five championships by cheating is hilarious icing on the cake. Beautiful. Again, a brand new Niner defense, on less than two weeks practice, completely shut down your first string offense straight up, man-to-man, using no tricks at all. Again, your team wasn't man enough to do the same thing to a brand new offense. For some reason, your coaches broke all NFL precedent and pulled every blitz out of the bag for a first practice game less than two weeks after a lockout. That slap in the face may have done the Niners a great service, but your coaches didn't do your team any favors. People who understand how the league works are probably shaking their heads and come regular season, your QB is going to have a huge target on his back.

Honestly, I'd be embarrassed if I were a Saints fan. The Niner defense beat their first string offense with no tricks. They just shut them down, period. The Saints could have pulled that no-class stunt on any team in the league. Nobody had more than a week and a half of practice. No team with new coaches and schemes has had enough time to get beyond basic formations and learning plays.

To me, it looks like Peyton and Williams were hazing Jim Harbaugh and although Harbaugh and Niners were being classy and not complaining too much, I'm sure they'll remember what happened. The Saints, with their no-class stunt, slapped the Niners in the face and probably did them a favor. I have a feeling this is going to come around and bite the Saints in the butt at some point in the future.

My question is why does Greg Williams need to throw his entire bag of blitzing tricks against any team that has been practicing for a week and a half? Most NFL teams have been installing basic formations. Most haven't even started working on complex blitz protection schemes. The Niner defense played the Saints straight up and shut them down. If I'm a Saints fan, I'm wondering why the Saints defense needs to pull a bunch of tricks out the hat right off the bat. Has anyone here ever even seen an NFL team blitz that much in any preseason game? What's wrong with the Saints defense that it needs to pull a stunt like that? Now, I understand why the Niners wouldn't consider Greg Williams for a head coaching job. He has no class, he's not very smart, and he doesn't even have enough faith that his own defense could beat a young, learning offense straight up.
