Pats got Mayo in 08, had 2 very solid drafts in 09 & 10 (Chung, Volmer, Gronkowski, McCourtey, Hernandez, Spikes, Cunningham, Edelman, Price, Pryor, etc.) and the very early returns are on the positive side so far for '11 (Solder, Mallet, Ridley). They have also hit on a few young undrafted free agents and cuts from other teams like Green-Ellis, Hoyer, and Woodhead. In other words, they have a lot of very good talent in the 21-26 year old range. They are likely looking to add more verteran depth and maturity at a few spots as a complement and to know the landscape when injuries hit. This also may speak to their feelings about Brandon Merriweather -a very gifted athlete whose instincts are not great like a Rodney Harrison and whose improvement over the years has not been as much as they likely anticipated/hoped.

Patskreig dot com, as with most Pats fans you have no clue what you're talking about. Sharper didn't get bumped due to someone having a higher draft value. Sharper spent half of last season on the PUP list due to surgery. And when he came back he wasn't half as effective as he once was. Sharper is probably healthy now, but Malcolm Jenkins proved he can handle the starting job and Sharper isn't looking to be a backup.

Having said all this, I don't see a starting role for Sharper on any team these days.

This sure doesn’t seem like the way they built the team that won 3 superbowls. Hey, I’m a ‘Skins fan so far be it for me to say anything about the Pats and how they’ve done things (thanks Danny Boy Snyder), but this sure seems like a different approach than before.

-------------
Mayo, Brady, Edelman, welker, green- Ellis, Chung, mcourtey, woodhead, wilfork, Cunningham, spikes, wright, mankins, light, Hernandez, gronkowski... And many more..

These are all guys that were part of the 14-2 just a year ago..

There are also guys who we drafted or picked up when no one wanted them under the age of 30, with the exception of brady, for next to nothing becuase most are overlooked post 1st round picks.

Our youth showed in game against the jets in the playoffs last year. These veterans pickups most of who still can play is great. This is more like 2008 celtics, or the 2007 pats who were a couple of miracle plays away from being the greatest team of all time. Except this defense is even younger.

Please if you are not a pats fan, or know anything about winning a championships in the past 25 years do not opinionate like this, you look dumb.

We have been really good for the past 10 years. It have set ourselves up for at least another 3 years. And that's being humble.

We had one of the youngest defenses in all the NFL last year, I bet even with the additions we still do. In a age where teams win one super bowl and the next year suck, we are simply way ahead of everyone else.

Sorry if you hate it, but we are ready for another deep run at the playoffs, which usually means afc championship, and again, I'm being humble.

Not to mention we had one of the best drafts this whole year and didn't pick once in the first round. I.e mallet Ridley dowling and verren.

Don't be mad cause we see te shine in diamonds when they are in the midst of ruff consistenly. Both in the draft and free agency

Playing chess while the rest of you play chess. Pats All day. Enough said.

What is with the Pats’ obsession with bringing in Old over the hill former superstars on their team. Your gamble with moss paid off, but lightning doesnt strike in the same place twice
<<<

Lightning has already struck multiple times, though admittedly to varying degrees of course.

Randy Moss, Rodney Harrison, Corey Dillon, Wes Welker, Danny Woodhead, Alge Crumpler, Rob Ninkovich, Ted Washington

..and of course there have been FA busts as well.

Adalius Thomas, Steve Martin, Shawn Springs etc..

Maybe they can talk Dick LeBeau and Dick Jauron out of retirement to play again?????
:P

Seriously, the reason it seems different to non Pats fans is that it's been awhile since BB loaded up on old salty guys, like all the way back to when he first got to town and brought in Cox (as one poster noted), AP, Bobby Hamilton and Rob Burnett , etc. Heck, I think O-T-I-S Smith was about 40 his last year in NE.

I agree with the Pats working everyone out. If you can use the vet in good situations that fit his abilities and put him in a position to be successful he'll work out for you. Keep him healthy during the regular season and have an experienced player for the play-offs. This especially bodes well if he has a low price tag.

Why would Darren Sharper visiting imply that Chad is getting cut?

And lolu if you seriously think any team would cut Chad so that they could sign TJ Houshmanzadeh
