After losing safety Hiram Eugene to a season-ending hip injury in the preseason opener, the Raiders have picked up a couple of safeties to replace him.
Oakland announced the signing of free agent safeties Josh Bullocks and Matt Giordano today.
Bullocks was selected by the Saints in the second round of the 2005 NFL draft, No. 40 overall, and was a starter for his first three years in New Orleans before the Saints phased him out of the defense in 2008. Bullocks has played for the Bears the last two years.
Giordano was selected by the Colts in the fourth round of the 2005 NFL draft, and in Indianapolis he showed that he’s one of the league’s fastest players. (Al Davis will like that.) He played for the Packers in 2009 and the Saints in 2010.

Bullocks great STer to replace Eugene.
Yay?
the raiders are hurting badly at Safety. this doesnt change that.
… and Atari Bigby remains on the street.
well i would think raiders might take a look at deon grant as well if they want to add some depth, but would think stevie brown has tremendous upside for raiders, along with mitchell for 2 nd string….I really don’t see branch, and huff getting beat out this year.
niners might cut madieu as well, seems they are over stacked at safety, and that is why they are shopping mays as well
So Giordano played one year too early for the Packers’ Super Bowl run, and one year too late for the Saints’.
Is this a good omen?
Raiders are only hurting at the 4th safety position…Tyvon Branch and Michael Huff are the starters backed up by Mike Mitchell. The fourth safety plays in some dime packages and special teams…
bullocks plays the way his name is pronounced
Yeah, i dont know why they didnt look at Deon Grant. Whatever the case, they looked AWFUL v. the Cardinals…Woodson needs to get them more clued in on “finding the football” …Cardinal WR ran all through soft spots in zone with back up QB’s and WR’s ….

What doesn’t change is your ignorance.
They are NOT hurting at safety, not at all.
Giordano was an average safety with the Colts, but I will say this he is one of the fastest white boys I have ever seen. Kid can fly. Pretty good special teams player.
