From what I have seen in the pre-season so far is that teams that normally would have just took a knew in the endzone when the ball went into the endzone now seem to take it out. I think players are still going to take the ball out and try a return because they know they have a chance to score for their team. The rule change will probably do nothing.

To be honest I have been thinking Goodell is trying to destroy this league. For some reason his "safety" reasoning for things just isn't making any sense.

Why bother with cleverness, when the term "Spygate" already stands for how pathetic your team's past history is on its own.

And so you have your “cheating” answer….. they DIDN’T have time. Maybe they just knew what the hell they were looking at? If Peyton Manning had done the same thing, would you automatically call the Colts “cheaters”?

It sucks that other teams have quarterbacks who look at a defense and don’t know what the hell they’re seeing; Brady is one of the elite who does.

By the way, in case you missed it the other 10,000 times it’s been stated here on PFT: EVERY team “films”. Even YOUR team.

Because it’s LEGAL.

New England didn’t do anything every other team doesn’t do, they just did it from the wrong position.

Why do we waste our breath on you morons who think you’re favorite team doesn’t tape too?

Maybe they video taped them 2 weeks during their practice for the Super Bowl. They don't have a covered facility. OH...and you are BIG man hiding behind your keyboard calling people names. Would love to see you say it to my face!!

And, as far as Bill Belichick is concerned, everyone knows that only the Patriots would even glance at other teams' signals. If you look at the other team signaling, of course you know exactly what play they're going to run. Just by looking! And that's why every other team averts their eyes and doesn't look because they're 100% ethical. Even though they could know exactly what play is going to be run by just looking, they wouldn't ever ever look. In fact, I heard that the Patriots have films of other teams' games that they review before playing that team. Can you imagine? No other team would ever do that! But I heard the Patriots do! When is the league going to investigate and fine the Patriots for filming other teams' games?

Dick,

You shouldn't be involved with a discussion about football. You think discussions about the game are solved with miscalculated percentages.

Tom Brady plays in 6.25% of the games. Let's have the NFL legislate that Brady can't play. According to you, a mere change involving 6% of the play means nothing.

You're very smug, but know little. Nice mix. The confident moron.

If you don't understand matters as well as someone as Bill Belichick and others who aren't insane, and are then defiant about it --- you just may not be qualified as an expert on the NFL.

Dismissed.

I've heard the same "Oh the game is ruined!" with every rule change over that last thirty years.

There was an average of 10 kickoffs per game last year. There were an average of about 140 offensive plays per game. So we're getting upset about less than 1% of the game. And if teams have a good return game, don't you think they'll take the chance and come out of the end zone? That was still allowed, last I check.

But why do I bother, you'll probably just resort to making fun of my name again. Because you know, nobody has EVER done that before, you bold trend-setter you.

I’ve heard the same “Oh the game is ruined!” with every rule change over that last thirty years.

There was an average of 10 kickoffs per game last year. There were an average of about 140 offensive plays per game. So we’re getting upset about less than 1% of the game. And if teams have a good return game, don’t you think they’ll take the chance and come out of the end zone? That was still allowed, last I check.

But why do I bother, you’ll probably just resort to making fun of my name again. Because you know, nobody has EVER done that before, you bold trend-setter you.

One thing I just thought of….how did they know the play before they had a chance to video tape it and the signals during the game?

watching game film provided by the NFL

--------------------------------------------------------
Apparently you missed the aprt where the Panther player said it was a NEW play they'd never run before ..... so how could it have been on NFL films?

Maybe it's a play the Pat's had seen from another team, and Brady recognized the scheme at the line of scrimmage.

Nawwwww ..... It's not like he's talented or anything.

I am a Panthers fan…several of our former players are sports talk hosts on the radio in Charlotte. One player said in the Super Bowl Tom Brady came to the line and called out exactly what 4 or 5 of our defensive players were going to do. They were stunned. The Panthers had never before ran that defensive play and was designed for a particular purpose (forgot what it was designed to get Brady to do). Needless to say the play did NOT work. The player chalked it up to Bill and Tom being football geniuses until it all came out about the taping.

One thing I just thought of….how did they know the play before they had a chance to video tape it and the signals during the game?
--------------------------------------------------------
And so you have your "cheating" answer..... they DIDN'T have time. Maybe they just knew what the hell they were looking at? If Peyton Manning had done the same thing, would you automatically call the Colts "cheaters"?

It sucks that other teams have quarterbacks who look at a defense and don't know what the hell they're seeing; Brady is one of the elite who does.

By the way, in case you missed it the other 10,000 times it's been stated here on PFT: EVERY team "films". Even YOUR team.

Because it's LEGAL.

New England didn't do anything every other team doesn't do, they just did it from the wrong position.

Why do we waste our breath on you morons who think you're favorite team doesn't tape too?

For those (you know who you are Jets fans) who continue to bring up ancient history in order to hang your hat on, I would be more proud of a coach who tried every method to give his team an edge than one who is a mammouth mouth and major toe sucker, who predicts everything yet gets nothing right, who didn’t even know that his team was still alive in the playoff hunt, sort of the anti Belichek.

Grow up and suck some toes and you feel better, like your coach does.

I’m a Bengals fan and watching all the jets fans rip Bill for cheating, when their strength coach got caught last year making a wall to hurt a opposing teams player…… I suppose they don’t see that as cheating. Stay classy jets fans

You mean that same "wall" that the Pats were doing just the month before (and got fined for)?

Report: Patriots seen tripping, using sideline wall
By COVERS.COM STAFF
The New England Patriots employ a sideline wall - much like the New York Jets did last month which drew them a $100,000 fine from the league, according to a report Sunday by Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.

Glazer revealed video showing a Patriots player sticking his leg out in the path of an opponent's gunner during a punt return.

Last month, the Jets suspended strength and conditioning coach Sal Alosi after he tripped Nolan Carroll of the Miami Dolphins during a punt.

New York special teams coach Mike Westhoff had accused the Patriots of employing similar tactics.

Yeah, as usual, you guys always conveniently forget when your team cheats. LMAO

Little slow on the uptake, huh?

The kickoffs from the 30 were legislated in by the pre-Goodell NFL to prevent the elimination of the kickoff return/kickoff coverage due to the stronger legs and more potent techniques.

The NFL will go on, but for any players/coaches/Belichicks/Ryans/fans who appreciate the kickoff return --- it won't go on in any realistic manner.

But I guess you're smarter than Bill Belichick, Rex Ryan and anyone else with a tiny hint of common sense.
