APThe NFL will again open its season with two Week 1 Monday Night Football games, and ESPN will again give the broadcasting duties to Brad Nessler and Trent Dilfer.
ESPN announced today that Nessler and Dilfer will call the Raiders-Broncos game at 10:15 p.m. on September 12. Nessler and Dilfer also worked together last year on the second half of the Week 1 Monday Night doubleheader.
Nessler and Dilfer replaced Mike Greenberg and Mike Golic, who worked the late Week 1 Monday Night game from 2007 to 2009, twice with Mike Ditka and once with Steve Young. (The three years with Mike and Mike in the booth are best remembered for Ditka scratching himself in an unfortunate place at an unfortunate time.)
Nessler will also serve as the play-by-play man for NFL Network this season, sharing a booth with Mike Mayock. ESPN’s regular Monday Night team will continue to be Mike Tirico, Ron Jaworski and Jon Gruden.

Phuckin’ Ditka… what a bada$$.
Other than Tony Kornheiser, I’ll take pretty much anyone they can find over Mike Greenberg.

I was talking about analyzing football, not playing football. Sorry that was unclear. Of course, trophy or not, Dilfer wasn’t a very good player. Better than Nessler, though.
Thanks for the warning.
Dilfer in the booth is enough to get me to spend the evening with a book rather than watch the game.
Difler is keeps in riding his SB ‘prestige.’ The same way he Ray Lewis and the D that whole season. Only ESPN.
Nessler is BAD! Dilfer is good though.
