18 months in prison doesn’t cure someone that could torture hurt animals for amusement. You as an Eagle fan either refuse to admit the extent of the sickness involved in that kind of behavior or simply haven’t actually educated yourself on the things he did or don’t care since he plays for your team.

He has never “manned up” unless you want to localize his acts to just dog fighting. The much bigger issue is the intentional cruelty he administered with his own hands repeatedly for a 6 year period. He never did a day in jail for that. When he does, thats when he’s “madden up” for his real crimes.

No one asked you to apologize for Mike Vick’s inhuman acts & it’s almost sad as an Eagle fan you feel you have to do so. The things Mike Vick did border psychopathic. You cannot possibly truly be a dog lover & be educated on the ghoulish things he did for fun & still stick up for him.

2. Mike went to prison. I am a dog lover. But he did his time. If you dont like it, Im sorry. But he did live up to the justice that was handed to him, and never complained about it once. He owned up to his problems and manned up. He has earned the right to re-enter society as a FORMER criminal.

3. I would like to hear more about the “persuasion of Goodell and other NFL executives” and see where that falls in under NFL guidelines. But, as mentioned, Vick wouldnt have started in Cinci either. And Buffalo would have been a disaster for him. His career never would have gotten back off the ground. Let alone flourished.

I am glad he is in Philly right now. I would rather have Kolb starting for us, but we wouldnt be as good if he was…so I guess its a draw for me. Im anxious to see if he gets a long term deal from us, or if him and Desean are shown the door at the end of this season.

1st, Casey Anthony’s lawyers provided doubt. A JURY acquitted her; she went through due process & was found not-guilty. Vick had that same option, he chose to take the sweetheart deal that a jock sniffing, family friend offered him because he KNEW a jury would have sent him to jail for a very, very long time. The evidence was overwhelming on Vick; all you would have to do is actually educate yourself on this to sound a lot less ignorant. If you feel justice was dodged with Casey Anthony, then justice was bound, gagged & beaten to death in the Vick case.

You do KNOW Vick never went to jail for dog fighting?

He went to jail for running an interstate gambling ring.

Do you know he had a prosecutor that defended his father as a defense atty a few years earlier & gave him a sweetheart deal?

That Vick never did ONE day in jail for his sadistic behavior for fun- he never spent any time in jail for the abhorrent torture.

Do you have any idea of the violence & torture he administered with his bare hands for entertainment? He did all this because he enjoyed torturing. He & his boys found it to be amusing to take already defenseless, bleeding creatures & continue to make them scream & cry as they all laughed. Do you know he did this MULTIPLE times a week for SIX years?

Have you really read about the things he did? Or are you like most Vick defenders, don’t really want to know the horrid things he did & want to make it about dog fighting or in your OPINION unfair treatment?

As for him being black, that is such a ridiculous argument. White, green, blue, yellow or red, that makes no difference & to ASSUME it’s about that is woefully misinformed & irresponsible babble.

If Vick were some schlep on a corner in Virginia & wasn’t an NFL player, guys like you wouldn’t care.

If you directed YOUR focus on becoming educated about this type of thing & learned what kind of people torture animals for amusement, knowingly spread disease to unsuspecting humans, then lie about it over & over again about it were made of, you’d be ashamed of your uneducated views.

also….. all those things you listed just make it a better case for people to argue that Vick got off easy. Stallworth killed a guy DUI and was suspended by the NFL for an entire year after the court only gave him probation, Vick was suspended for 6 games and later it was reduced to 4 after admitting his involvement in the actual dogfighting itself (which he did not serve time for) as well as the gambling charges he served in prison for. “He paid his debt”… when Vick starts spending time in prison for the actual torture and murdering of dogs then I will lay off him and ill say “hes paying his debt” Vick has not spent one single second in Prison for what he did to those dogs thus his debt is not paid. Think of it this way… you owe a company $20,000 for various products (lets say 4 different products all costing 5k a piece) and you pay that company only 5k and say “my debt is paid”…. no you still owe 15k to actually PAY your total debt. Vick paid a fraction of his debt but he still has a remaining balance that he will never pay back. You can sit there and feed me the “they’re animals, not people” line all you want, but you say you have a pittbull right?? Can you honestly tell me that if some one took your dog and slammed it against the ground and tortured it for hours on end until it just couldnt take the pain anymore (screeching loudly, bleeding, bones broken, and crying in unthinkable pain)… can you honestly tell me that you wouldn’t want that guy to suffer for what he did, can you look me in the eye and truthfully tell me that you think two years would be enough for that guy to make up for what he did? (remember this was for his meer entertainment) Just bc hes a good football player you people give him a pass for something that should NEVER happen, something so cruel and heartbreaking that for most human beings is too absurd to think of. But hey… they’re just dogs right?

People compare the two because they both got away with murder. Murder is murder dude. If the law says its illegal to murder pets then you are supposed to suffer the consequences…. he did not. He went to jail for Gambling charges. If Mike Vick had the atheletic ability of Alex Smith and had done all of those things he would no longer be playing in the NFL. If Alex Smith had Vicks ability and did all of those things he’d be in the same position Vick is in right now. Its about what you can do for the league so they can make dollars! Racism is a krutch for mentally crippled people who do not have the brain capacity to look deeper into issues so they take a shortcut to thinking and say “thats racist!” Im white and I would much rather a well rounded black person in my home rather than a rude, loud, and obnoxious white person and vise versa. I do agree with the spirit of your post, however. The whole point of prison is rehabilitation. If we assume that nobody changes and that prison is a waste of time, then why do we even bother sending people to prison? What is the point of “giving them a second chance” if they never even get the second chance? Might as well take them from the court room to the gas chamber.

Bottom line is who cares if he “really changed” or not. If he is not breaking the law, then everything is fine. It is not a crime to think about breaking the law.

Also, let’s note that there was NO WAY the NFL was going to let a convicted dog murderer leave prison and immediately become the face of a franchise, let alone a struggling franchise like the Bills.

I think the idea was to lock him down behind McNabb and Kolb in a city with a sports-crazy fanbase; this has PR move written all over it. I don’t honestly think the league expected Vick to still be able to ball the way he did before he went upstate.

Second, it would not take an actual misstep from Vick to have everything come crashing down; all it takes is one person to accuse him of a misstep. In the American Public, you are guilty until proven innocent, and then you are still guilty. And that goes double for people who already have a record.
