Do you relize that Cotchery hasnt played a full season since 08. Mason hasnt missed a game since 03 and hes older. Last year JCo caught 41 balls for 433 yds and only had 2 tds. Mason on the other hand had 61 balls for 802 yds and 7 tds and in 09 it was even worse the difference between the two. Even in 08 when JCo had FAVRE throwing to him and Mason had the ROOKIE Flacco throwing to him Mason put up better numbers. Mason has produced more consistantly over the years and his whole career despite his age, check the stats and compare. Plax has a game winning catch in the super bowl and was a huge part of the Giants winning that year. The Jets have lost the AFC Champ game two years in a row. They are trying to get over the hump. The experience they have on the team as far as the receivers is way better than last year. Lets just let it play out and see.

Yes i know Burress is right out of prison. But he would be the biggest dumbass in the world if he didnt stay out of trouble this season and play hard and try to earn a better contract next year. The Jets should get a good year out of him bs free. There was something about Edwards the Jets didnt like. I never usually question what tannenbaum does and i wont this time. It was the same thing last year when the Jets lost some big players like Thomas Jones and Alen Faneca and Kerry Rhodes. Everyone freaked out and guess what the Jets were fine and had a better team than the previous season. Just like they will be this year they will be fine. Mason is a suitable veteran replacement for JCo and if Burress is %80 of what he was hes better than Edwards too. I love how the last two years everyone has crapped all over Edwards on this site saying he sucks and now the Jets made the biggest mistake letting him go. What a joke, let the season play out people before you pass judgement. Its not like Cotchery and Edwards are sooo much better. There are negatives that come with them too.

I’m not at all comparing the two as individuals, I’m comparing their contracts.

$3.017 Million for a 34 year old WR just out of prison, and out of the league the last two season
OR
$1 million for a younger guy with more upside, and familiarity with the offense and personnel.

They swapped Braylon, Smith, and Cotchery for Plax and Mason. That’s terrible, and in no way justifiable.
