It’s not an excuse, it’s a reason. I would say the same for any team that happened to be missing half their starters. And it’s hardly whining….I would think you guys knew the difference, seeing as how you practically pioneered the behavior.

Although, it’s quite a relief we aren’t in the same division anymore. Granted, it would be a cakewalk, but at least I don’t have to worry about getting shot.

Careful, Saints fan. The current Saints team might be a one-and-done passing fancy. Because a “powerhouse” doesn’t follow a Superbowl by getting their asses kicked in the first round by a 7-9 team. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Saints don’t even make the playoffs this year and you end up watching the Niners in January. I wouldn’t bet on it either, because the Saints are still very good – just not as good as you think they are. But, that’s the fun part. We’ll see.

Now, I’ll say it again. As a Niner fan, I’d like to again thank the Saints coaching staff for being such a-holes. After watching the Niner offense almost completely dominate a blitzing Raiders team with a very nasty and overpowering Niner offensive line, I’m encouraged. I understand that the Raiders are not a “powerhouse” like the Saints, but I’m encouraged and I think the Saints did the Niners a favor.

This is football and friendly trash-talking. No need for such personal jabs.

As for the 9ers, I always had an admiration for them because of some of the great players/coaches they were able to put together with a few exceptions (Deion, T.O. and Merton Hanks’ neck) just to name a few.

I get it, its preseason, but we still have to work on the things that we do when the games count. Its not classless, its smart. Other teams blitz and nothing gets said or no one’s feelings get hurt. It’s football. Maybe Payton called and either didnt get an answer or left a message and never received a call back. You don’t know.

You have to find out what you can do, and what you need to work on so I don’t see how it does anything but benefit both teams.

504in860, if you weren’t lazy and stupid, you may have read my first post in which I made it clear that I am grateful to the a-hole Saints coaching staff for slapping the Niners in the face and putting a huge chip on the shoulders of every Niner O-lineman. They needed that. Now, if you want to call that “whining,” all I can say is get a dictionary and bone up on your English language skills.

I could care less about the Niners. They are an afterthought these days.

You see, billb49, the problem is not the team you root for. The problem is you.

Fair enough, but for someone who has been watching the team for 50 years, it doesn’t hurt as badly as you might think. I’ve seen them way up, way down and in between. I’m luckier than most fans because I’ve seen them win it all five times and never lose a Superbowl. And, you know what? I’ll see them win a Superbowl again. Sure, it won’t be this year and probably not next year, but they’ll be up there again one of these years.

Things change, cuz. I still remember an 18-year run when the Niners were yearly favorites and people like you had bags on your heads. And, I remember an earlier time when the Niners were playing in Championship games in the late 60′s and early 70′s and you guys had bags on your heads then as well. All teams go up and down. Remember, the Saints were once up and then went down…. oh wait, that’s right, the last few years are your only up. And, you’re already heading down. It’s really not that easy being an elite team that everyone guns for, is it. But, you wouldn’t really know much about that. You’re a Saints fan and this is your first time.

It’s preseason – big deal.

Now you get to work on your blitz pickups – that’s certainly not all bad, is it?

As long as they’re not lining up with 12 or 13 players, it shouldn’t be that much of an issue. But if it bothers you that much well … then blitz them back. And if you’re really honked off … make it a little more interesting … put a bounty on Brees.
