Tebow could get his chance, eventually

With Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow sliding to No. 2 and currently in danger of falling behind Brady Quinn, there’s still a set of circumstances in which Tebow will be the starting quarterback in 2011.

Specifically, if (when) the Broncos fall out of contention, it’ll be time for the team to let him show what he can do. If for no reason other than to help persuade the locals who are clamoring for Tebow that he won’t be able to do what they think he’ll be able to do.

Woody Paige of the Denver Post thinks that moment will come on December 11, when former Broncos starter Jay Cutler returns to town with the rest of the Bears.

Paige’s prediction deserves consideration because he predicted last year that Tebow would take over for Kyle Orton in December, against the Texans. Paige, as it turns out, was one week late.

Regardless of how it all shakes out, it’s virtually impossible for the Broncos to give up on Tebow before giving Tebow a fair chance to show that his will and desire can overcome his flaws and weaknesses. Unless, of course, the Broncos can contend deep into the season, and possibly make the playoffs, with Orton under center.

At that point, the fans would likely be willing to see the team trade Tebow.
