He may never make it as starting QB. He may struggle for consistant accuracy as a pocket passer. He might be a poor leader and a poor locker room influence.

So, what did they get for a 3rd rounder. A 6'5'', 230lbs athlete with a 4.4 forty. He might not be very accurate yet but he has got more than enough arm strength for the NFL He is good runner from QB spot. At the very least he should provide a quality wildcat option. With the new roster regulations that should give him immediate value. Teach him a few routes and he should be able offer something as a receiver as well. Hell, with the contract that Larry Fitzgerald has just signed wide receiver probably looks like a good career path right about now.

Hue Jackson can spend the next few years evaluating him and developing him as pro-style QB, while Pryor earns his paycheck playing on sub-packages. He has all the physical tools. His highlights suggest that he has real potential. If Jackson can draw that out of him, then the Raiders have got a bargain. If not they probably have got their money's worth from a 3rd rounder by adding a running QB to take advantage of the revised 3rd qb rule.

Had Pryor declared for this years draft it is hard to believe he would have fallen much lower than the 4th round. Spending a 3rd in a supplemental draft doesn't seem like an outrageous reach.

i think moving him to TE isnt a good move because then he has to learn how to block and run a tight end route. i think Pryor plays QB, backups up for a year (3rd string for a long time) then next year takes the 2nd string away and whenever Campbell leaves Oakland than i think Pryor might start. he's a project.

You say:

"“Welcome to Oakland Mr. Pryor, I’m sure you’ll feel right at home with all the other troubled athletes that failed to revive their career.”"

Now, I'm not an Oakland fan in any way, and I find it as easy as anyone to make fun of them, but you have to be kidding. Revive a career?!!! He's a rookie coming out of college early after he was caught doing some bad things and about to be suspended. People who think this sort of thing doesn't happen on every single college team are out of their mind. To say he's trying to revive a career is pathetic. He's young and just starting out, not a veteran playing out his attempted comeback.

One thing. This kid is far more talented than any other QB on the Raiders roster. I hope he can come in and play after his bogus suspension and make a difference. He has the potential.

“Why did they even call this a draft then?”

Raiders got a HUGE bargain. Normally when you trade a future pick for an immediate one you sacrifice one full round of trade value. So the third rounder used on Pryor would actually be a fourth round pick in the 2o12 draft.
-------------------------------------------------

No they only use that as the basis for the trades in a current draft. A 3rd rounder in a supplemental draft is a 3rd rounder. So now because they used their only remaining pick in rounds 2-4 on him there will be a long wait come next draft day between the Raiders' first and next pick in the draft.

The fact McAdoo and King, or others, weren't drafted does not mean their chances of making the NFL are poor. What it means is teams preferred to gamble they would be available as free agents rather than acquiring them by burning a 2012 draft choice.

I think a lot of people think late round picks are freebies and they can be used indiscriminately as a result. They are as precious as early round picks.

When it comes to the supplemental draft, if the guy isn't worth a 1, 2 or. 3, I am not so sure you would then burn a 4, 5, 6 or 7 on him. You just might prefer to see if he becomes free in which case you can keep your 2012 picks intact and still pick up the player you want. It is a risk, but one likely worth taking.

Western Carolina defensive back Torez Jones, Georgia running back Caleb King, Lindenwood defensive end Keenan Mace, North Carolina defensive end Mike McAdoo and Northern Illinois defensive back Tracy Wilson) free agents.

the Panthers should look into Mike McAdoo and Caleb King should go to Arizona and one of the defensive backs should also look into Carolina. i am surprised that only Pryor was drafted. i thought McAdoo would be drafted.

He is one of just a few quarterbacks the year who meet the 26-60-27 criteria for success coming from college to the NFL. 26 college starts, over 60% career competion percentage, and 27 or more on the Wonderlic. Newton, Locker, Kaepernick, Mallett, did not meet the standard. Other than Gabbert, the guys who did were two years older than Terrelle.
