To ALL Pats haters wherever you may be:

We are constantly accused of being: arrogant, snobbish, loud, obnoxious, overbearing, etc: GUILTY

Not only do we have our Pats - We've also got the reigning Stanley cup champeens in the Bruins, the Sox are tied with the yankees in the AL east and the Celts are right up there, if/when the NBA ever starts up again.

All of the above makes us arrogant, snobbish, loud, obnoxious, overbearing, etc. - and that's just ONE of the bennies of being here. You may rest assured that we will continue to be this way until our teams start losing, at which point we (most of us) will probably shut up.

I don't live in Boston or Massachusetts. Never have. So I have no idea what the people there really think.

I would assume that they love the guy. They should. The Red Sox have won two World Series. But it seems like they don't love (or like) Damon or Manny. For good reason. I would think they dig Wakefield, the guy just keeps on keeping on.

I think Brady wearing a Yankees cap did him no favors.

To start out I am not from New England so I couldn't tell ya if New England has love for Brady or not, but what I can say is this:
It APPEARS as though Brady is not getting "love" from his fans because to all of us outside of the New England area, the Pats are hated. Brady being the quarterback gets much of the hate from the rest of the country placed on him. Why?
Because everybody and their mom knows the position of quarterback whether they know everything about football or nothing at all. Also most people hate to see somebody "have it all." The man has unimaginable athletic ability, good looks, beautiful wife...even Pats fans have to be a lil sour about that, its human nature.
Okay, off my soap box.
Although I have complimented this man and somewhat defended him, I would probably boo him and flip him off if I ever saw him in person...just saying...

Well, I don't live in Boston (Vermont), but I certainly respect Brady for all he's done, and his overall performance as a QB and an athlete in the NFL. I realize many people attempt to tarnish his and the Pats name for spygate, however, my only issue with that is they were sloppy enough to get caught, while the rest of the league has a much tighter gameplan when it comes to taping other teams.

Beyond Spygate though, nobody can really question his overall numbers. Knowing other teams plays, doesn't mean you're going to connect on every pass, and rarely and at times never throw a pick. Only the most rabid of haters can turn a blind eye to his efficiency.

@bullcharger

Don't get me wrong, the Pats MIGHT dump Brady the same way they have others...but I doubt it, and your reasons are very valid.

1.) Some of those players were ONCE elite status, but at the time they were let go they weren't anymore, and were just serviceable or totally unnecessary or just not financially worth it. Brady has not come close to entering that same category, in fact he looked as good last yr as ever.

2.) Being surrounded by a great team? Don't get me wrong, the Pats are a great team, but his teammates individually aren't that great. Who? Wes Welker is very very good, but remember him in Miami? His receiving core last year was made up of rookies, nobodies, and Wes. His running game was the Law Firm. And their defense was average at best. Mentioning in McNabb and Brady in the same sentence is appalling.

3.) Bill Belichick owes his entire career to Brady at this point. He was trash without him, just look at his coaching record with Brady and without him. Now, Bill could continue coaching w/o Brady and be just fine, but that's because Brady bought into his system and spread it throughout the entire organization. A coach can have a great philosophy and it can fail miserably until people buy into it. In my opinion no one was buying it until Brady came along, and he bought in and then commanded everyone else to as well. Belichick is a spectacular coach, I'm just saying that it will be harder to replace Brady than Belichick.

4.) Ryan Mallett? LoL the kid is terrible. Did you watch him against the top teams he faced in college? He was pathetic, he was easily shaken, his footwork sucks, doesn't move in the pocket well, and he is absolutely NOT a NE type QB. He has a big arm but his accuracy is suspect as well as his decision making. In no way do they truly believe Mallett is the future.

Brady and New England fans keep a respectful distance. The love for Favre in Wisconsin got to a point of being excessive and sometimes brainless. It probably messed with Favre’s head and made him think he was a big deal and the NFL needed him. Brady stays under the radar like everybody else who’s in Belichick’s program.

Interesting observation, and there's probably a lot of truth to it. However, much as I respect the way Belichick controls the team, that's not why Boston is less star-struck than Green Bay. The difference is size of community and lack of competing sports stars.

Whining about ref calls are a NE tradition and doesn't at all cause fans to grimace here.

No one faked or pressed refs more than Bird, McHale and DJ during the 80s Super Celts days. Loved them for it. To a one.

Brady is the top athlete so far as I can see. He has been since he strapped them on and took over for Drew. Schilling of the bloody-sock Sox may be the single greatest-moment player in the past few decades, but Brady eclipses that in whole.

Even when the Pats are not looking as sharp, Brady is ice and I don't think many fans in any town would not trade their QB and then some for him. Go Pats!

Could not agree more. as a diehard pats fan i will always remember tom forever as my sports hero. He brought boston back to sports prominence and is still playing like someone is chasing him to this day. I keep reading these ignorant posts about boston fans being bandwagon and that brady is a system QB.. Last time I checked every team has a "system" for running an offense.. Brady just seems to run his better than most. (336 passes without an interception lol cmon now). And how can someone say boston fans are bandwagon?! Umm before the pats won in 01 Im pretty sure the Celtics were filling up the Garden during their era of 16 titles. And since 01 which was before the sox won, they were selling out every game up to this point. Any sporting event will have less attending if the team they are paying to watch is bad.. What kind of idiot would go pay 80+ bucks to watch a terrible team and leave pissed off.. Oh wait i know.. A bills fan lol..

BB will let TB go when his skills decline, no doubt but elite QBs' flaws are so miniscule that they don't have to be "disguised". That's one reason they are elite. I don't consider running ability a must for any QB so that doesn't factor in IMO as a "flaw". There's nothing TB can't do throw wise or gameplan wise. He's proven that.

McNabb was never , ever, EVER elite, and that's why his huge accuracy problems (a MAJOR flaw) and decision making problems HAD to be "disguised".

I saw a better way of putting the feeling for Brady on a Pats' board: Brady is revered, Troy Brown is BELOVED.

ipeefreelyagain says:Aug 22, 2011 7:11 PM

I believe Tom Brady will be released or traded within the next 3 years.

The bold text is because this is a bold statement. But I truly believe this will happen. Here are 4 reasons to support my theory:

#1. The Patriots are experts at dumping players at their golden hour (the time when they’re still at their best, but decline is evident). This has happened with Richard Seymour, Mike Vrabel, Laurence Maroney, Matt Cassel, and most recently, Randy Moss. The list goes on and I’m sure I’m missing many more. Some of these players were once elite status for the Pats.

#2. This will be Tom Brady’s 12th season: We’ve seen Peyton Manning’s skills decline. Tom Brady is not immune to father time. Being surrounded by a good team helps disguise his flaws (i.e. McNabb in Philly).

#3. Billl Belichick is the NFL’s best coach for a reason (see #1): He’s a visionary and can see the big picture, with the long term in mind. He’s willing to sacrifice a short-term loss for a long-term gain.

#4: The incumbent is in the chutes: Drafting Ryan Mallet is one of the best signals of this impending move. Let Brady groom him (Belichick again), and then pull the trigger.

————————————————–

That's why they signed him to a huge new contract I guess.

I know he's not in danger of losing his spot, but I bet them drafting Mallet (a first round talent) kinda gets under his skin a little bit. How dumb do you have to be to wear a NY Yankee hat if your a Patriot. May be he will come out with a jets throw back Jersey on next time! The California fancy boy image does not help him win any popularity contest!

Interesting how many Boston people have said one version of "he'll be appreciated more when he's gone" or another.

I know nothing about the Boston media, but I never got the impression Brady was particularly loved either. I would think most NFL cities would give their left hand to watch one of the top 5 head coaches and quarterbacks of all time play before their eyes every Sunday for them, after already winning 3 SB's for you.

What a bunch of spoiled wankers New Englanders are. So you don't like him dating supermodels and having great hair? There are plenty of good ol' boy QB's that might appeal to you more, I just wouldn't expect them to actually win as much as Brady. Spoiled brats of boston.

Truer words never spoken. Before 2001, N.E. was actually one of the lamer NFL franchises, like how Miami is now. No "identity", no real national following, always mediocre. At one time, Oakland was what Baltimore is now. The 49ers were once even worse than they are now, but in between they were one of the all-time dynasties. Green Bay was awful for decades at a time.
