Titans G.M. Mike Reinfeldt met Wednesday with Titans running back Chris Johnson and agent Joel Segal. After the meeting, Reinfeldt expressed both pessimism and optimism.

“I’m not sure there was any progress made, but I do think it was beneficial to meet,” Reinfeldt said, according to the Associated Press. “We were able to discuss several different elements of a potential contract, but there was no agreement on those topics. I do expect to have another conversation with Joel in the next day or so to discuss things further.”

So while the meeting may have laid the foundation for future talks, the bottom line is that there’s been no change to the bottom line.

And so, while Johnson tweeted on Tuesday that things will get “better or worst,” it appears for now that the answer is neither.
