Getty ImagesThe Seahawks traded for former 49ers first round pick defensive lineman Kentwan Balmer last August.
This August, they cut him according to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network.
Balmer started 11 games last year in place of he injured Red Bryant, but really struggled to make an impact as a pass rusher. He was a first round pick in 2008 and will likely get another chance in the next two weeks, but Balmer may slip right out of the league.

Another year, another team!
I’m thinking that if the Niners and Seahawks both dump you, it’s time to start looking at a second career.
After losing Ty Warren, any DL with experience will be getting a call from Denver.
To which I say ” who ? “
Yeah, Denver up next….
WHO?
Why is Matt Forte throwing the ball?
Anyone else notice that the picture shows him defending a pass from Matt Forte?
Nice picture. Looks like even Matt Forte has better throwing mechanics than Tim Tebow.
LOL nomoreseasontix, and I’m a Hawks fan!
Coming from a Niners fan, this guy sucks. He doesn’t want to work for his job. He wants it to be handed to him because he was a 1st round pick. Good luck in the real world loser.
Wow. I thought the Rams had the absolute worst draft selections in the NFC West (until Long, etc), but I may be wrong. SF is pretty close to “winning” that distinction. Even Jimmy Kennedy is still in the league. This guy is destined for Bengal-land.
3rd times a charm…at least he hopes
This guy was a disaster! Thanks Scotty!!!
My Desmond Bryant for Aaron Curry trade scenario gathers momentum.
Another fine pick brought to you by the Nolan Regime, proud sponsors of 5-11 football.
The ‘Dancing Bear’ is about to dance right out of the league.
Another wasted draft pick thanks to McDrunkie. Who also is working for the Seahawks these days. BTW this is the second 49er that McCloughan drafted that he’s brought to Seattle that has subsequently been cut. How much longer before the FO of the Seachickens realize this guy simply doesn’t know what he’s doing.
Scot McCloughan is a failure. Not sure I like Baalke much more, unfortunately.
And to you Seattle fans who were laughing when the trade happened last year: Right back at ‘cha.
haha wheres Majorseahawk???
SF drafted this bust, and then figured out he couldnt play. remarkably, Seattle traded for him…they actually gave something up for him.
LOL. Seattle’s franchise is a joke.
Hawks gave up a sixth for him, so I guess he ends up where most sixth round picks end up…CUT.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
It’s called the Halfback option! C’mon guys, don’t you watch football?
