Munchak: Titans may sign a back, won’t trade Johnson

We noted earlier today that Chris Johnson may request a trade, and that the Titans will surely insist that they won’t trade their best player.

Sure enough, Titans coach Mike Munchak has said the Titans won’t trade their best player.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that Munchak said today that the team is exploring its options for adding another running back while Johnson continues his holdout. But Munchak insisted there’s no way the team would trade Johnson.

Of course, plenty of teams have ended up trading players after saying they wouldn’t. So if there’s a team out there that views Johnson as the final piece in a Super Bowl puzzle, that team ought to at least consider giving the Titans a call and seeing whether a blockbuster trade offer is enough to get the Titans to budge from “no way.”
