RealDraftGM - What you don't understand is, certain positions are slotted into different money categories in the NFL. Bud Adams wants to make Johnson the highest paid RB in the NFL. That isn't good enough for Johnson. You also cite the mandatory minimum spending ; this is not in effect until 2013, and furthermore, just because you would have to spend a certain amount of money doesn't mean you should overpay at one position. That will hurt your field a competitive team. Also, extend Locker? Seriously? Hasn't even played a down in the NFL.

I will say that I was on Chris Johnson's side for most of the summer on this. He is clearly grossly underpaid and RB's have a short shelf life. The longer they wait to get paid, the older they get, and the less their value is. But when I heard that Bud Adams wants to make him the highest paid RB and that isn't good enough for Johnson? He needs to take the money or sit.

Here is the deal. Bud I know how you have operated in the past kicking Steve Mcnair out of the building one of the greatest leaders to ever play quarterback like a Ray Lewis warrior type on Offense which was offensive Bud or Fisher not sure Fisher probably. Bottom line; you say you back your gm that tells me the g.m is making the call with Chris Johnson not you Bud. Time to step in Bud Johnson puts fans in the seats which you have not been selling because of this fiasco. People will say including me that if you will not pay Chris Johnson then you will not pay anyone. Here is the problem Bud and why you you should tell your gm to piss off; the new cba rules are gonna require you to spend that money anyhow so would you rather spend the money on the top playmaker in the league or be forced to spend it on average to whatever players. Johnson is in the great and possible hall of fame type; that is who you want to spend the money on if you are forced to spend it; drink some coffee wake up Bud your gm is gonna wreck your future. Like you said life is too short and you do not get players like Chris Johnson or Michael Vick twice they are once in a owners lifetime type explosive playmakers. Tibetan Buddism says Pride is the cause of suffering why have pride if you are gonna have to spend the money anyhow Bud. I am trying to be a friend and not bash you give you the benefit of the doubt the g.m. I am not gonna give the benefit because he has already played games in the media and not acted professionally with a special kind of player. Munchak is an offensive line coach and your head coach why not let him break the tie and I guarantee you he wants Johnson over anyone including that meddling gm. Think about it this way some teams pay quarterbacks Tom Brady, Michael Vick money and some pay less. You have hardly any quarterback expenses so you have the cap to make this move and by the time it is to extend Locker he still at a maximum could be a 12-15 million a year guy. The Cardinals pay Kolb like 12 a year so they had the cash to sign Fitzgerald. Bud I should be your g.m,. seriously the guy you got now is not getting it done. I may write you a letter in the future and we can talk.

"So if there’s a team out there that views Johnson as the final piece in a Super Bowl puzzle, that team ought to at least consider giving the Titans a call "

And just what team might that be, MDS?
I'm trying really hard to think of a team that's one Running Back (even a great one) away from the Super Bowl. Or even a team that might legitimately think they're a Running Back away.

Colts, maybe? Don't know if they have the cap room, and even if they did, there's no way the Titans trade that guy within the division.

Patriots? Possibly, but I doubt they'd be willing to pay Johnson what he wants, which means he'd be their problem instead of some other teams. Doesn't seem like the way that organization works.

The Jets seem to collect Running Backs like old ladies collect packets of saltines from Denny's, but they've already got a surplus at the position for that very reason.

Redskins? Even Dan Snyder doesn't think they're one Running Back away from the Big One.

That was a ridiculous arguement....Obviously you didnt watch this years draft. The first running back taken was Mark Ingram at 28th overall. How is that selecting a RB high. Obviously you know less than GMs and less than the everyone else on this post. Try checking facts before posting nonsense.

“If running backs are worthless why are GM selecting them high in the draft? I guess you clowns know more than them. smh

I guess you didnt watch this year’s draft”

That was a ridiculous arguement….Obviously you didnt watch this years draft. The first running back taken was Mark Ingram at 28th overall. How is that selecting a RB high. Obviously you know less than GMs and less than the everyone else on this post. Try checking facts before posting nonsense.

id have more respect for this shidiot if he simply said:

"look i want a new contract.i think you guys, myself and my agent need to talk about it."im still going to show up and play regardless and im not going to talk about it to the media, but know that if a contract cant be worked out im going to move on when my contract expires and there is NO amount of money you can offer to keep me here if you dont work out a contract with me within X amount of time."

then you just go out there and tear the field up week in and week out.let your agent hash things out while you basically create a highlight reel for a future team if necessary.

id have no problem if a player came out and said they gave their team a chance to pay them and it didnt work out and even though the team matched an offer by another team they still left.

course most teams know a player wil almost never turn down money and just offer 2 or 4 million more then another team at the last second and the player will cave and forget everything he said 6 months ago.

As a life long Oilers/Titans fan, I have to say that this would be the straw that breaks the camels back for me.

Is Chris WANTING more money than he's worth? YES

Will Bud Adams and the front office pay him WHAT he is worth? NO

It's hard to watch all of the great players we have had in the past get less money than they are worth.

Is he the best player we have? HELL YES!! He needs a raise, make him at least a top Five paid back......he deserves that much

He was 21st in YDS/A last year...... 21st! no way would I take this nut job over AP (1 fumble in 2010), Foster or Charles.

I'm not even sure he's better than J Best or L Blount
