The Raiders were burned by the guarantees in Russell’s contract, so I’m sure they’re taking that into consideration. And they may be trying to lowball Pryor because of the five-game suspension.

Meanwhile, perhaps Rosenhaus would want to protect his kid from being short-changed over the suspension–as well he should. And Pryor may want some assurance that he’ll be developed as a QB. It’s a little more complicated to negotiate a contract from the supplemental draft because it doesn’t fit perfectly within the cascading formula applied to the other first rounders.

Once he does sign, he’ll have five weeks to study film and playbooks away from the team. It’s not like they need to sign him ASAP so he can be on the field week one.

Yes, he can practice with the team. He's allowed to attend and participate in all team functions until the first regular season game is played. Then he goes on the shelf.

He absolutely can and will practice with the team until the regular season starts. His suspension is for 5 regular season games, giving him the ability to practice with the team until preseason ends once he’s signed. Which is why everyone is questioning the holdup.

His suspension won’t even begin until he signs a contract since he’s not an NFL employee until he signs. If they followed your lead and not signed him until week 6, he would be suspended until week 11.

That was speculation by Tafur. Hue Jackson said after practice yesterday that they wanted to get him in this week but were waiting on other issues. Not saying it couldn’t be true, but Jackson disputed the notion.

I’m guessing Rosenhaus wants more than the slotted money.
