I don’t blame Johnson for the holdout but I think he needs to lower his expectations. He’s not as valuable as a QB, his career will not last nearly as long. Someone needs to have a come to Jesus talk with him pretty soon. If Harper has a couple nice games the pressure will really be on.

If a player signs a contract, he should play out that contract. A deal was made and both sides should honor that deal.

If Chris Johnson signs a massive deal and doesn’t do anything the rest of his career, the team is on the hook to pay him the full amount unless they release him. In that case they take a cap hit and are penalized.

But then Chris Johnson can just hold out and be a baby whining about his deal. If he didn’t like the terms or the length, he should have negotiated a richer or shorter deal.

Don’t throw out that “right wing capitalist” garbage. If a worker isn’t pulling his weight then he should get jack.

I think the NFL should be making full incentive based contracts. You get a minimum salary, and from there, you get paid based on your performance. All players would perform better if they knew their “guaranteed money” was only “guaranteed” for how they perform.
