Cam obviously knows better than you that real leaders always point the finger at themselves publicly and not their teammates. If he EVER says “it’s my teammates not me” he will be just another Peyton Manning…horrible leader.

For someone who’s such a tremendous homer for Cam you are the one looking for excuses for him IN CASE he fails. You sound like a Peyton Manning fanboi. It does him a disservice IMO to try to defend him that way.

None of it will matter if Newton can’t perform, and he certainly has a cadre of skill players there to help him( the likes of which Carolina hasn’t seen since the Polian years), but until his career is a bit further along, he seems to be going about things the right way. Hard to hate on that.

I’m not exactly a cam newton guy, but to blast a rookie qb who only has one year of high level starting experience is wrong.. I remember watching Eli, Peyton, Rodgers, Big Ben, and Sanchez (to name a few) struggle their rookie years. Before you Packers fans jump down my throat, I mean when he was behind favre, not his first year starting. Point is, most rookies take three years to develop. You look for the improvements and work ethic and for the player to trend well. Rookies this year will be even further behind due to the lockout. It’s nonsense to even judge cam newton yet, the sample size is non existent.

A 40% completion rate and he hasn’t even seen complicated game-planned defenses. Cam Newton is the poor man’s Vince Young. The only rookie quarterbacks that do well are the strong passers, so he’s really got no chance.

It is tough to throw interceptions when your passes aren’t near an intended receiver. Even the DB’s expect the ball to be someplace in the vicinity.

As an NFC south fan (Bucs). Newton is between a rock and a hard place. If he can stay injury free and the Panthers can improve the offensive line. He’ll be just fine.

Give the guy just alittle time to grow and develop. The Panthers are lacking in more areas than just QB.

I like newton. maybe he won’t be all universe but I like his humility. The comparisons to Jamarcus Russell were inevitable at first but they’re way off the mark now.

It’s interesting to note that both Newton and Mallett are 6’6″ around 250 and can throw the ball a mile.

Panthers managment is very pleased that they drafted Cam #1 in the 2011 draft vs the 2010 draft. The financial hit they are going to take when he gets cut in 2013 is less than half of what it could have been.

for all you scam newton lovers, true he can run, but in the NFL you have to be able to throw. i wouldn’t be surprised if he either 1) gets injured during the season or 2) after this year gets traded. He isn’t that good.

I have to admit I don’t like Cam Newton and I don’t believe he will ever be a great NFL QB. That being said, nearly every rookie QB is going to struggle when coming into the league. These rookie problems are just going to be magnified when then rookie has to play right away. As a Cam hater I say give the kid some time at least. And let’s keep the Jamarcus Russell comparisons out of this for now.

i doubt Carolina will. their offensive line (especially the right side when Otah is hurt) is bad and pressure is consistantly on the QB. Mallett’s slow self would be sacked alot.

Every year it seems there is a “Running Style” QB that is the new savior of that style of QB. The media and the NFL packs it up our asses that it is the future of the QB position and it nnnnevvvvverrrr ever, never ever ever, ever never ever works. The pro level of athlete will not allow a qb that cant throw first effectively and consistantly be successful. Mallett landed in the best spot in the world, behind Brady. He’s livin the dream! in 2 years Carolina will probably cut Cam (see VY) and trade for a freshly trained, unused Mallett.

A: Because this is Newton’s first year and it’s preseason. This is Tebow’s second year and he hasn’t shown much improvement from last year.
