Dolphins have best cornerbacks? Revis begs to differ

We noted this morning that Miami’s Vontae Davis says he and Sean Smith are the best pair of cornerbacks in the NFL. Word of that got back to Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, and he respectfully disagrees.

Revis said the 23-year-old Davis, who’s only played two years in the league, has more he needs to accomplish before he can count himself among the truly elite.

He’s got to play a couple more years before he’s saying all that,” Revis said. “They’re a good tandem but they have a lot of work to do.”

Revis said that anyone who doesn’t think he and Antonio Cromartie are the best pair of cornerbacks just need to watch the film.

“It really don’t matter because the film don’t lie,” Revis said. “The film don’t lie. You can say what you want to say. You can say the sky is red but it ain’t red. That’s just what it is. We know how we play and we know what we do on that field not just as a corner tandem but as a secondary. We play great football.”

Davis may argue with that, but not many others would.
