157 of you agreed with this ignorant statement. Cromartie is not NA, but he is not scrap metal either This is why he is back, and why the Jets did NOT break the bank. Cromartie is off the chain opposite of Revis.

1)Packers: Williams, Woodson, and Shields
2)Eagles: Nnamdi, Cromartie, and Samuel(chemistry is huge here tho)
3)Jets: Revis and Cromartie
4)Dolphins: Davis and Smith
5)Chiefs: Flowers and Carr

You guys can give me all the crap in the world about the Packers CBs but I watched pretty much every game last year and I guarantee if anyone of you watched all their games you would at least put them in your top 3. All I know is that I would love to have Tramon Williams on the Skins D.

1. Wild Card in Philly- Tramon Williams ices the game with an INT in the end zone on the game’s final drive.

2. Divisional in Atlanta- Tramon Williams picks off Matt Ryan twice in the first half. Once in the end zone, and the second he returns 70 yards for a TD as the half expires. The game is never close afterwards.

3. NFC Championship in Chicago- Sam Shields picks off Hanie deep in Packer territory to ice the game. It was his second of the game. Plus, the surprisingly agile BJ Raji tries his hand in coverage and returns a pick for a score.

4. Super Bowl- Nick Collins returns a pick for a TD in the Super Bowl.

You could make a case for both, but I’ll say one thing. I’d take Tramon Williams with a broken leg over Cromartie. They’re both great cover guys, but that’s where it ends. Tramon is a FAR better in run support, a better tackler, a better blitzer and a more complete player in every way. Plus, he’s been huge when it mattered most.

Maybe Revis will learn it’s the best “TEAM” that wins the superbowl.

Great post on the catch percentages! Not! You can pull any random stat out there and make some crazy arguments. All you have to do is look on the same site you listed of YPA for CB’s and you will see that Revis was #1 for the second year in a row and Cromartie was #6. But that stat or your stat dont take into account at all who the CB is covering and how much help they have from the safeties.

I wont boast based on those stats tho b/c I judge how good players are by watching the actual games. Fins Corners are good, but to suggest they are in the Revis/Cromartie Asomugha/Samuels and Williams/woodson category is just plain dumb. Those fins corners have never even played in a playoff game before, so how do we know if they are even any good when the games actually count the most? Dont get me wrong, fins corners are good, but theres a reason why a lot of people outside of miami dont even know who they are.

But Green Bay expects its corners to be able to tackle and blitz, in addition to simply flat-out cover, which they do as well. With Nick Collins at SS and 2nd year man Morgan Burnett at FS, the Packer secondary is right up there with anyone in the league.

Revis/Cromartie
Williams/ Woodson
Asomugha/Samuels

Each of the 3 pairings have legitimate arguments against them.

Cromartie can play great at times but is inconsistent. Tramon Williams has only been doing this for 1 season. Samuels gets burned a lot and Asomugha is great at shutting down other team’s #2 receivers while playing one side of the field while the #1 receiver shreds the other Raider corners.

To me it comes down to Williams/Woodson and Revis/Cromartie because of their level of play in big games and playoff games. Asomugha hasnt played in a big game his entire career so hes the only one that hasnt been battle tested. Also, other than a little last year, we will finally get to see Asomugha cover #1 receivers instead of #2′s and #3′s most of the time.

Its very close. I also may add that Revis in my own opinion (which happens to coincide with the majority of NFL coaches, opposing QB’s, NFL Top 100 list, NFL “Experts” on ESPN) is the best on this list. He shuts down the elite #1 receivers every time with very little safety help. He arguably had the best season in NFL history for a CB in 09, and after the bye week last year and into the playoffs he was playing at his 09 form. He simply just removes the top receivers in the game and the Jets defense plays 10 on 10. Its not a coincidence the Jets had the #3 and #1 defenses the last 2 years with a mediocre at best organic pass rush.

Also, if it was even possible he ups his game even more in the playoffs. Ocho Cinco 2 years ago to 2 catches for 22 yards, Reggie Wayne 1 catch for 1 yard, and in my opinion the most impressive was 0 catches for 0 yards against a collection of all the Chargers receivers 2 years ago including Gates. The other Jets corners gave up some yards to each of the SD receivers that game but Revis did not give up 1 catch even with covering the much bigger Gates 1 on 1, and having more catches himself than Jackson when he was covering him (see ridiculous Revis int while laying on the ground).

But teams really need 3 quality corners and unless Wilson improves quite a bit I doubt the Jets trio of Revis, Cromartie and Wilson can beat Aso. DRC and Asante. Although its hard to complain with either.

Some may say Williams and Woodson are good duo. While Willams is good Woodson is a below average cover cb and really should consider moving to safety as he is more a ball hawk than a cover corner.

Not so!!…You have to do it on the field before you can say that. So far, I dont see it.

Can’t recall when their players ever “promised” or “guaranteed”a SB, but instead honestly stated it as their only goal…one which they truly believed they were capable of achieving and were disappointed when they didn’t. I certainly wasn’t. But show me a team with a different philosophy and I’ll show you the Cincinnati Bengals.
