He’s making about five million this year, right?

Didn’t the Niners re-sign Alex Smith for five million dollars on a one-year deal?

No wonder he’s mad. If Smith is worth five million to the Niners, Gore should be worth about twenty million or so, if you’re talking about what each has meant to the franchise over their careers.

New staff and new philosophies. get with the program or leave, Frank. this is coming from 1 of his biggest fans.

hes a great player and the kind of guy you want on your team but he isnt above the team. the 9ers are better off not shelling out large amounts of $ for him. hopefully they can reach a middle ground but it is unlikely.

sooner or later people will know the name Kendall Hunter. the kid can ball, and he has shown his excellent blitz pick up ability.

I'm normally of the mind you play you contract out. But when Baalke and Marathe extended not only Willis's deal(highest paid LB at the time) an Vernon's deal(Highest paid TE) they kind of brought this on themeselves.

Huge 9er fan. Been one since before the Catch. Frank has made the OLine look better than it is. How many times was he all but caught in the Backfield only to pop out the other side and go running off downfield. He was the center(no longer) of the Offense with Nolan and Singletary holding the clipboard on the sidelines.

No longer this is going to be a more balanced Offense. No more Bell Cow. YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!

Still Frank's worth the Money.

Sentimental? Yeah maybe. But the only reason his numbers have gone down is cause the guy hasn't had a single complete season since 'o6. But you put the ball in his hands as many times as we have and you can pretty much figure out why he was injured.

As much as he respects Norris, that guy really hasn't been opening holes for Frank. Frank steps out on the field and the Line parts as though he were traversing the Red Sea.

Don't give him the moon, just make sure he finishes his career as a 9er and at a livable contract. The last two contracts were very lopsided in favor of the team. 1st on he got was a bit over $300k since he was a 3rd round pick. 2nd one was a tad better but it had to be at the bottom of the Starting wage scale compared to the 31 other Starting RBs'.

Just got rid of Clements and Mays. Now's the time to get it done.

Trade Gore to Cleveland for their (very high) first rounder next year. Everybody happy. Oh, wait, the Browns’ starting mega-salary guard just got hurt, too. Gore could run behind Thomas all day long, though. Might open up their passing game more.

Trade Gore to Cleveland for their (very high) first rounder next year. Everybody happy. Oh, wait, the Browns’ starting mega-salary guard just got hurt, too. Gore could run behind Thomas all day long, though. Might open up their passing game more.

I don't blame the 49ers. Don't get me wrong I like and respect Frank Gore however the 49ers have two backup RBs (Dixon and Hunter) who are looking impressive in the preseason. I think he still has two more solid years left in his tank with a few downhill seasons to go with that but nothing worth a huge contract. It's sad to say specially since he has represented that franchise the right way all around (Something a lot of NFL stars can't say).

For those of you who just trash the 49ers keep a close eye on them this season. The offense has a lot of weapons they're just missing a QB. I can't blame A. Smith too much since he's had a new O Cord almost every season of his career. Some QBs don't go through that many Cords in their careers. I'm really excited for my team this year. They've had a lot of close games the last two years

I have a lot of respect for Frank and his contributions he's made to the Niners, but come on man. $5 million for ONE f**king year is really not enough money?? Go ahead and leave Frank, I think you may be starting to overstay your welcome anyway. In all honesty, RBs like him are a dime a dozen.

And to deadeyedesign23, you mention an 8 year career like it's a bad thing. Wouldn't you be happy to only have to work into your early 30s and then have more than enough money to retire and live a luxurious life? Oh and trust me, the physical ailments that players take into retirement can also be found very often in many strenuous, back breaking minimum wage labor jobs as well. The difference is that these guys work their whole lives to make less than Frank would in a single year and still have broken and bruised bodies and minds.

all you guys puttin gore down, let me let you know hes only 27! and had almost 900 yards in 11 games last yr and hadnt had less than 1,000 since hes been starting yea so he definitely deserves his big contract for atleast 5 yrs 45 million 20 guaranteed, he has proven 6 yrs that hes is a solid force n the nfl unlike cj only 3 yrs n already wants to be the highest paid runningbacks in th league? NO WAY! HES NUMBER 4 ON MY BOARD...AND THEY DO NEED TO PAY HIM OR THE ONE OFFENSIVE WEAPON THEY HAVE IS GONE! kendall hunter? yea right! alex smith would have an even worse year than ever!

As long as the 49ers are under the cap I see no reason why they shouldn't rework his contract. Let him have a four year extension with an escalating salary, incentives to stay healthy, rushing and receiving yardage, touchdowns etc. Throw enough money up front to keep him happy and move on with business. He is a game changer when healthy. These are not baseball contracts in the sense that when you sign somebody your stuck with them for the full length of the contract. If Gore breaks down and cant cut it any more, move on. But until that is in fact the case, which it is not, keep him around.
