Giants-Jets moved to Monday

NFL Lockout Looms As Negotiations Reach Final Day Getty Images

The Jets and Giants have decided to postpone Saturday’s preseason game after discussing alternatives throughout the day.

The minute New York City decided to shut down public transit Saturday, the game seemed to be a dicey proposition.  The game has been rescheduled to 7 p.m. ET on Monday night because of Hurricane Irene.

Both teams are also set to play Thursday night.  Those games will not be moved.

(Translation: The starters and immediate backups play Monday.  Everyone else plays Thursday.)

The coaches won’t like the disruption of their routine, but that’s life.  I didn’t like the insane lines at the grocery store in Manhattan either Friday. (So I left.)  Sometimes larger forces just can’t be ignored.

UPDATE:  NFL Network will air the game nationally.

I walked five blocks with my case of water bottles, you can too. Good for them to bow to reality and postpone.

Come On People!!!!! This is preseason and this storm could be life threatening so get your things and get away from the city. Tomorrow will come and the game can be rescheduled.

Either way, nobody cares about these two overrated teams. “But it’s New York, Giants/Jets or Yanks/Mets”…guess what New York, everyone hates you and your overhyped franchises. You think everyone is concerned and talking about you…but we’re actually sad because you represent the pathetic in America – High Taxes, Restricted Freedom, Nanny State, and we are FORCED to hear endless stories about you, as if it is more important than other parts of this great country.

Oh yeah, and there isn’t “more pressure” to play in New York, it’s just an excuse for when the players and teams fail…I love the fact that the Cowboys, 49ers, and Steelers have 4x more SuperBowls combined that these 2 teams combined…oh wait, I guess it’s unfair because it’s 3 vs 2…fine, we’ll give you Buffalo and all of their SuperBowls – hahahaha.

They will be lucky if the game isn’t cancelled

giants should just trot out their back-ups for the entire game. jets think this game means something…giants couldnt care less…perfect time for another crippling injury to the giants. if the starters need reps, which the dont, let them get them vs the past on thursday.

They’ll come back on Monday and the field will be like a lake. Rex will just float everywhere.

on the list of all time nfl teams, the giants arent that far from the top. you want to kill the jets, fine. the giants…..no. one of the founding fathers of the league and 3x Sb champs….give them their due respect dude. stop with the anti ny bs too….i live in jersey and cant stand ny either….but ny is what people think about when they think of america….we may not like it, but it is what it is.

with that said….people in ny/NJ dont care about this game either. cancel the stupid thing and get ready for week 4 of the pre-season.

Yet the Giants have more NFL championships than any one of those teams.
Not to mention you’re making a comparison of teams who have all been in the league longer than the Jets.

By the way… in case of flooding… Rex Ryan CAN be used as a floatational device.

If you drop all those Steeler “Steroid Era” Superbowls then you get a much different picture.

Maybe the Giants should care… you know, since they’re professionals and all.

Life threatening? It’s a CATEGORY ONE! You’re basically Eeyore with a single rain cloud above your heads. Do they make umbrellas over there? Honestly, you east coast people will never cease to amaze me.

    Hey steelerhypocrite

Whats your problem get turned down for a job on Wall Street?
While I am sure you do not like NY NJ and CT are United States of America
This is where it all happens and the rest of the country follows.

No one attacked Pittburgh on 911 why because there is nothing to attack

Why does it cost so much to live here because everyone wants to

When a Giant breaks the law he is gone when a Steeler rapes a kid he is not touched stay classy Pittsburgh

If you knew anything about the NFL you would know that the Maras have been one of the driving forces behind making the NFL great.
Who’s name is on the ball ?
    Not a Rooney

“While I am sure you do not like NY NJ and CT are United States of America. This is where it all happens and the rest of the country follows.”

Let’s face it, we’re the only country in the world that really matters…however, your statement is revealing- our country is going to he** and you’re leading it. The people of NY/NJ/CT are the ones that promote the ideologues like Obama, and his regime. You probably also think that only “intellects” from an Ivy League school can be President. Next you will take credit for the housing collapse…well, actually that was the fault of NY investors, Fannie/Freddie, and Bill Clinton…you are correct, you are leading us…

  21. jetfanfolife says: Aug 27, 2011 1:15 PM

steelerhypocrite, you shouldn’t even own a computer…you probably kick dogs and bully children.

You’re just pissed off because your team in named after something Pittsburgh hasn’t produced in ages…why? Because your Republican cronies decided to move jobs abroad.

    @jenniferXXX …

If you drop all the steroid-era championships from the late 60s until steriods were banned in the 80s, you get a much different picture: about 20 fewer Super Bowls. Steroids were legal and used throughout the league during those two decades, honey. They weren’t unique to a couple of Steelers. The result was an even playing field, which is all that matters in determining champions

  23. Deb says: Aug 27, 2011 2:05 PM

    @steelerhypocrite …

Are you a Steelers fan? What a bizarre name for a Steelers fan. I’m a Steelers fan and love watching the Giants and Jets play. Please stop babbling.

I don’t understand why people ALWAYS bash the Giants. And to the people bashing NY, oh please. I always find it funny when people say they hate NY although have never went there. I’m just waiting for December 24th.
