He’s still under contract for this season. I’d leave it at that.

He’s really too worn out for them to be thinking long term. They need to start looking at what’s next at that position.

Gore can’t be a 9 if he misses almost 40% of the season. That puts his production in the 5-5.5 range.

I love Gore, but give him and Chris Johnson what they both want. Trade Gore and a 2nd round pick for Johnson. Both players get what they want, the Niners get younger and healthier at the position, and they have millions available to give Johnson the contract he wants

First Im gonna start of by saying Im a 49er fan second Frank Gore is the best player on our team besides Willis. I would love to see Gore retire a 49er as I would all 49er greats but the fact of the matter is hes 29 years old and for a running back we all know that’s 40 years old in RB years. He gets injured at least once a year and with his hip injury last year idk how he thinks he has any leverage at all, if im Baalke im either signing him to a 2-3 year contract worth about 5 million a year and finding his replacement either through the draft or in free agency or i make a sign and trade deal and pick someone up that fits Harbaugh’s scheme perhaps see what it will take to pick up Toby Gerhart.

Ignorant comment. Both backs might be looking for a new deal, but the difference is that Frank Gore SHOWED UP and is being a TEAM PLAYER through the process.

The absolute worst investment any team can make is a long term contract with a running back that runs beyond when the back hits 30. The Curtis Martins of this world are few and far in between.

im seeing alot of ignorant comments in here thusfar. I saw we sign him with stipulations to injury and give him an incentive to work for. you get 1,000 rushing. you get a bonus. you stay healthy. You get a bonus. ETC. Gore is the man and one of the best backs…if not the best back in niner history. Keeping him is a good idea. oh yeah. hes one hell of a blocker too. and with our o-line looking a little shady we could use the extra help.

niners need gore, plain and simple. for some reason (Alex Smith) they dont get enough production out of players they have already (crabtree, vernon davis) and now added braylon to the mix. in all honesty, vernon davis should be a top 3 TE every year and gore (injury nonwithstanding) should be a top 6 RB.

let go of the alex smith experiment, and draft a QB.

I think it’ll be best if the 49ers trade Frank Gore.

1.To sign 29 year old RB to a big money extension, coming off a career threatening injury, with one year left on his 2nd contract….is bad business.

2.He holds their offense back as he never wants to come of the field. Harbaugh will have a hard time implementing his different personnel packages without resistance from Frank G.

Gore is a helluva back, but losing a player of that caliber will have a similar effect as the Packers losing Sterling Sharpe. Losing a great player the you depend on heavily..opens up the rest of your offense. Saw how explosive the offense was when Frank G got injured last year.
