No change yet in Jets-Giants game despite mass transit shutdown

newmeadolands

Expect a sparse crowd at Saturday’s Giants-Jets preseason game, assuming it still happens.

The 2:00 p.m. ET game remains on the schedule despite the announcement from New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg that mass transit in New York City will begin to shut down at noon ET Saturday.

The weather forecast isn’t bad for Saturday afternoon, but fans won’t have the option to take public transportation home from the game. Because of that, the Mets have already canceled their game Saturday. (And Sunday.)

We suppose this is one advantage to having two teams ostensibly from New York not actually play in New York. This game can still go on.

We’ll let you know if that changes.

UPDATE: We’re told the teams are “discussing all the issues.”
