Haynesworth won’t be making his preseason debut tonight

albert-haynesworth1 AP

The Patriots play the Lions tonight in Detroit.  One guy who won’t be playing is defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth.

Tom Curran of CSNNE.com reports that, even though Haynesworth has practiced all week, he’s not expected to make his game-situation debut in New England’s Week Three contest.

Acquired last month in a trade with the Redskins, Haynesworth had a 20-day absence from practice.  He returned on Tuesday, a day after pleading no contest to simple assault in D.C.

He is an overpaid, overhyped d-bag that gives the NFL players a bad rap. Here’s hoping the Pats realize this in time to dump him before wasting more money on him.

No contest? He won’t be making his debut for probably another five or six weeks.

    But when he does…..

  7. iflounder says: Aug 27, 2011 5:20 PM

better hope he’s not left at the hotel unsupervised while the game’s going on.

  8. flagstaffphotos says: Aug 27, 2011 5:23 PM

Haynesworth is like Michael Jackson, taunting his legions of fans by taking off one white glove at a time, teasing that he might actually lower his sunglasses for their viewing pleasure.

Except where Jackson had legions of fans, Haynesworth has Belichick, waiting with baited breath to see if he will actually inch his chair back slightly from the buffet table.

Guaranteed hamstring (HIND QUARTER) for HAYNESWORTH. FAT ALBERT is so out of shape

He’s prolly so fat and out of shape he can’t get up the steps into the stadium so he just lays at the bottom and eats donuts and takes naps.

  15. Henry says: Aug 27, 2011 5:47 PM

Man, the old saying, “Haters gonna hate” really applies here!
Bellichick made a very low risk acquisition that has huge potential upside and you guys are hatin’ on him because he’s not playing in a pre-season game?
    Grow the f.u.c.k. up!

  16. wte1 says: Aug 27, 2011 5:50 PM

None of you guys above me have a clue.

Belichick is hiding Haynesworth during the meaningless preseason and will unleash him when the games count.

And he will reign terror on the NFL.

Knowledgable Patriots fans like myself know this.

  17. wizahdry says: Aug 27, 2011 5:59 PM

So how is this different than when Haynesworth was with the Redskins? Other than him making less money for doing nothing. He still looks out of shape and still isn’t playing.

  18. thrillho777 says: Aug 27, 2011 6:01 PM

Who cares. His role is to rush and sack the guy with the ball. It’s not like he needs to learn anything. Haters gonna hate on him not playing in “the preseason”.

BB will unleash him come week 1.

  19. profootballwalk says: Aug 27, 2011 6:03 PM

Randy Moss didn’t play through the entire 2007 pre-season. How’d that work out for ya’?

  20. jmat40 says: Aug 27, 2011 6:08 PM

If I’m not mistaken Albert Haynesworth pleaded ‘no contest’ which is the same as guilty, this week to sexual assault.
The only thing Haynesworth should be preparing for is the 12+ game suspension Roger Goodell should be giving him.
But being as Haynesworth is with New England now this will of course be swept under the rug or burned like the cheating tapes.

Ben Roethlisberger got 6 games reduced to 4 after jumping through hoops for Goodell and having a psychiatric evaluation and he was never even charged or arrested for anything.

Goodell and Bob Kraft are in bed together. Goodell won’t do anything to upset New England.

  21. seanje says: Aug 27, 2011 6:09 PM

  22. mmmpieyummy says: Aug 27, 2011 6:21 PM

Yep…he’s unleashed so much hell on the opponents the last couple years…give me a break.

Typical Patsie fans…thinking the hoodie is always going to bail everyone out from their bad habits. This experiment along with OchoStinko is gonna backfire on him and it will be fun to watch the meltdown in Beanytown.

Any other team makes these aquisitions and it’s a frickin’ joke…but no, not Belichicky – he can cure anything. Man, Boston people are the absolute worst beings on the planet.

  23. RussianBreadMaker says: Aug 27, 2011 6:24 PM

Haynesworth needs to shape up for his kids sake. I’m a redskin fan and just after his signing, I searched his name in google images and one of the first images to come up was one of him and his young son playing together on the practice field in Tennessee. I remember thinking to myself, “this guy looks like a family man, not someone that stomps on other player’s heads.” little did I know what a POS he truly was.

Like someone said above, he just gives NFL players a bad name. No one deserves to make any amount of money acting the way he does.

Couldn’t agree with you more…Belichick runs out his horses when they’re ready. Mr. Hayensworth is no different. No need to thump him up in meaningless games…He’ll probably also rest him in games 15 & 16…you all know why.

He’s getting as much press on that as a certain Steelers’ QB was getting. Give the guy a break for cripes sake.

  29. flagstaffphotos says: Aug 27, 2011 6:35 PM

@Deb – don’t you find it a bit absurd that he gets NO punishment from Goodell after an assault conviction based on sexual assault charges? After what Roethlisberger went through, and his accuser didn’t even stick with her allegations?

    /oxymoron – ox·y·mor·on. Rhetoric.
a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect, as in “cruel kindness” or “to make haste slowly.”

If I were you, I’d would look for another martyr.

  33. chazzmon says: Aug 27, 2011 6:43 PM

The simple assault was that he grabbed some girl in inappropriate places in public. His defense was comical, he said that the girl who made the complaint was black and that doesn’t like black girls so there’s no way he did it. Amazing eh! This is guys a piece work or a piece of something.

  36. jmat40 says: Aug 27, 2011 6:56 PM

It was STILL assault. Plus Haynesworth has quite a history. There is no way he should skate on this but he will since he’s a Patriot.

I wonder how many games Goodell would suspend Haynesworth if he were with the Steelers.

  37. mikecal645 says: Aug 27, 2011 6:59 PM

    jmat40.

Funny you bring up the Steelers. James Harrison literally beat his gf and got no suspension. Putting a credit card in a girls cleave is not as bad as beating a girl.

Keep thinking Godell has it out for the Steelers though.

  38. tlaw21 says: Aug 27, 2011 7:00 PM

    @Henry

I’m not hating on him because he’s not playing in a preseason game….I’m hating on him for what he’s done and what he stands for. He stomps on defenseless players heads, he takes 21 mill from the skins and then holds out just because he doesn’t want to play a certain position, he literally takes naps on the field, he sexually harrases women just because he feels he’s above the law, and he’s been in two traffic incidents one where the crash was his fault and he wont admit it and the other he got out of his car and punched a guy in the face because the guy switched lanes in front of him on a jammed freeway. He has a huge amount of talent but he’s lazy got his money so he thinks he can do whatever he wants. He’s an A-hole and that and the above reasons are why I hate on him. So maybe it’s not me that needs to grow up but Albert Hanynesworth

  39. jmat40 says: Aug 27, 2011 7:06 PM

Ben Roethlisberger has NEVER been arrested or charged with any crime against anybody. You people need to get that through your thick skulls. Being accused is not even close to the same thing. Many women try to pull that nonsense when a guy won’t give them what they want.

Albert Haynesworth stomped on an opponents head and was a locker room cancer in Washington and admitted to groping a woman.
Why should he get a break? Because he’s black and plays for Bob Kraft?

He needs to be suspended but Goodell doesn’t have the guts to upset his butt buddy Bob Kraft.

Now…That is what I call common sense!!!!…Ben walks around a club w/little [ really little ] ben hanging out….and a jet fan thinks thats ok…You must have thought it was a toe.

Ben rapes 2 women, at least…and you find his punishment absurd…yep, flaggie…is time for you to get back to mummies panty drawer…..maybe DEB will have some sizes big enough to fit you.

No reason to risk agravating an existing problem when there are others to be evaluated before the final roster cut downs….these guys are fixtures on the team & neither will be cut as all you haters & scared fans hope….Pats are STACKED with talent & lots of good players will be getting cut…the rest of the NFL is hovering like seagulls waiting to swoop down for our cast-offs….Nice problem to have if you are a Patriots fan….
Can’t wait to see this D-line come regular season games…they are gonna DESTROY everyone they go up against…between the D & the increadibly balanced Offense this team will be next to impossible to keep pace with….

All this is telling me is that Haynesworth is keeping Belichick informed of what’s going on, and he’s doing everything Belichick must be asking of him.

If Bill Belichick didn’t like what Haynesworth was showing him so far, dude would be gone YESTERDAY.

Albert Haynesworth should be suspended. Period.

I was using that as an example since you seem to be out of your mind.

James Harrison beat a woman and was not suspended how is putting a credit card in a girls shirt worse than that and worthy of a suspension? Do you want equal treatment for all players or Steelers treatment vs the rest of the league.

  57. mwcarolina says: Aug 27, 2011 9:56 PM

    @flagstaffphotos …

Goodell is an extremely political, corporate individual. His first priority is the public image of the league. Although the investigative findings indicate Roethlisberger wasn’t guilty of assault–and Goodell’s letter said he didn’t dispute those findings–Ben’s behavior was abhorrent. He’s a star Super Bowl-winning QB for a prominent francise. Tarnishing his image tarnished the league and generated public outrage. That’s why he was suspended. And that’s why Goodell spent a season investigating Brett Favre’s two-year-old junk shots even though no complaint had been filed. Players at that level can’t afford the luxury of being jackasses.

On the other hand, Haynesworth, Perrish Cox, Brandon Underwood, and Vince Young got a pass from Goodell despite being arrested, tried, pleading guilty, etc. That’s because they’re not household names with millions of kids buying their jerseys.

Although I don’t believe Roethlisberger is guilty of rape, I supported his suspension because his behavior needed to be reined in. I don’t have a problem with what happened to him. I do have a big problem with Goodell’s hypocrisy … but I understand how he makes his decisions.

@Deb – VY sells millions of jerseys in Texas, I can tell you. Even now, after several mediocre NFL seasons, he is as big as Roger Staubach or Tom Landry down here.

@Mistress Rachel – you’re a bit of an odd duck, eh? Do you engage in actual conversations, or do you just blabber on about “mommy’s panties?” If so, I would prefer you find someone else to direct your comments towards – that’s just extremely inappropriate and offensive quite frankly.

  63. backindasaddle says: Aug 28, 2011 9:59 AM

If this jerk doesn’t perform in a big way once the games start counting I hope the Pats cut his fat arss immediately. His sense of entitlement, disgraceful work habits, and selfish egotistical attitude are really becoming nausiating.

If he performs up to his abilities during the season then all will be forgiven. If not…I want bad things to happen to him because he is just a real jerk.

  64. Deb says: Aug 28, 2011 2:58 PM

    @flagstaffphotos …

Young’s is the odd name out on that list because he’s been a starting QB. Goodell made so many speeches about revamping the PCP and applying it more liberally that I was shocked when Young wasn’t suspended after his arrest for assaulting a guy in a strip club–especially given his prior history of behavioral issues. Roethlisberger had no prior history of disciplinary issues. I just figured Young had fallen off the popularity radar–it was the only thing that made sense. Guess I shouldn’t be surprised he’s still loved in Texas given the Longhorns’ following.

I really despise the cynical way Goodell does business, but being realistic about him helps. Expecting him to do the right thing would leave me constantly upset and disappointed.
