Metlife Stadium in “good shape” after storm

New Meadowlands Stadium Name Football

Although roughly 1.8 million people in New York and New Jersey are without power, Hurricane Irene could have been a lot of worse in the area.  Cleanup is underway on Sunday with the storm passed.

Zach Berman of the Newark Star-Ledger reports that Metlife Stadium is in “good shape” after the storm. (That’s the new name for the Giants/Jets home for those who are behind on their corporate naming news.)

While mass transit in New York City and surrounding areas may be slow to re-start, the Giants-Jets game rescheduled for Monday night at 7 p.m. ET should safely go off.

    Allaying some early concerns that the complex would go down in history as Metdeath Stadium.

    Stadium should be named for the owners of the Giants: THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES.

    Is that the stadium where Charlie Brown tries and kicks the football but it gets pulled underneath him every time? Sounds like a Giants game to me.

    Wow as an Eagles fan I’m disappointed by the new name. Some of the greatest moments in the Eagles- Giants rivalry happened in the Meadowlands and it just sounds weird to call the stadium anything else

    It’s very refreshing to hear from an Eagles fan that actually realizes that the Giants-Eagles rivalry has been going on for longer than the last 3 years.

    @vdaigglesfan:
    Please do a little checking before you post that typical Eagle fan inanity “The Philadelphia-Owned Giants”. Rivalry is all-time (NOT just the last 3 years), and the Giants are 84-72-2 vs. the Eagles. That don’t sound “owned” to me.

    That Giant fan just absolutely owned that Eagle fan and there are no factual stats to argue that point. Talk about getting owned… Ouch.

    Giants Stadium was built to withstand Hurricane force winds up to Cat 3, they said 3 years ago…

    How nice. Only $25k for a license to allow a fan to buy a season ticket. No roof.

    Rivalry? The players are all friends. Grow up.
